Most Small to mid sized ones, yes.(I do). Larger tourneys, like APEX or the upcoming Pound 4, it depends. If the TO has a large tournament staff, he and his staff can go play their matches while other members of the staff who don't have scheduled matches cover for them until they are done.

It really depends on the person and also how much staff they have. So far at most events I have entered. The guitar hero tournament and Halo tournament I did not enter. Mostly because I am not interested in those games. Things do go smoother when I work the event more than playing. At my first tournament during matches and friendlies I kept getting bugged by my own crewmates about what was going.

Lately I haven't had any problems.

If you don't enter your own tournament, you can focus 100% on it and work towards making it awesome.

But, for something you work so hard for, I wouldn't blame anyone for not participating in their own tournament. Like it was said before, you need to have a lot of staff behind you who can keep the tournament flowing.

The organiser around london is lucky enough to have a brother who loves to organise, and likes smash enough to come and help out but not enough to enter, so there's constant organisation.

I think its a shame if a TO doesnt get to participate in his own tournament

usually, a small tourney allows to a chance, and larger ones usually require more than 1 person to organize so to's have a good chance to participate

I used to, but I found that I get more enjoyment out of either just running it, or just entering. Doing both hinders your performance in both areas.
