To Many "Big" Events

I feel as a casual brawler that there is to many "big" brawl touries being scheduled. Im fearing if i choose to go to one, not as many players will attend since there is another huge tourny coming up that people are saving for.

I think there needs to be a tourny back room for T.O. (even though im almost sure there is private group for them already) so they can cordinate for a true big event so we are assured everone is on the same page to attend.

RIght now we have a "big" event once a month which to me doesnt give enough time to get the out of region players people are aiming for. Leaving the event to be a normal or a bigger than usual regular tourny.

I dont know if anything i just said made sense but i think you get the idea.

Noraa,

I respectfully disagree. As a casual player, I see you going to maybe 1 big tourney a year, and maybe doing 2 locals a month. This shouldn't interfere with that. I've broken down the community into 3 types:

Regulars: Will be at a tournament every week or almost every week if there is one
Standards: Go to 1-2 tournaments a month, with the intention of getting better and being competitive, but it's not their life
Casuals: Go to 1 tourney or so a month, only goes to locals, not interested in national events. Goes mostly to hang out with people.

As a TO, I have to cater to the wants of these 3 groups. For nationals, Casuals aren't going to show, period. So the nationals don't affect them at all. The Regulars will show no matter what, so the only convincing that has to be done for nationals is the standard players. Ideally, you should pick the best events to go to, and the ones that have the most of those players will be the most successful.

My point is, Noraa, you are probably a "standard" player. You're not interested in EVERY event, but you definitely want to be better and be competitive. So you control their business- the events that get the players like you to go will be the most successful.

Just ignore the "big" tournaments. Not everyone can host nationals all the time. I can tell you one thing, between Showdown, GAMME, MLG, Airship, APEX, GROAT, and others, something is going to have to budge. Sorry guys, not every tournament can be a national.

yeah...idk how its all gonna work either.

i just know i hope airship works out...cuz thats probably the one i can get to.
This also brings up the point of:
What is the main event of said tournament? And which part will get more entrants?

Obviously, some of those tournaments have much more potential to be Melee, and others are potentially mainly Brawl. Pick the Melee one that you prefer most.

Sure someone could managae a BIG event, but an event would only be big if the players made it big.

So one just has to think how to make it big. First impressions matter, and so does convenience. Everything boils down on how how monees is needed to join and how one can get there and how one will stay there.

As a TO your ultimate goal is to try to make the event as big as possible. You can hype it up and call it a "big" tournament, but ultimately how many people show up ultimately decides its status.

As a casual player I just say you go to whatever tournament is most convenient to you, whether it is who goes, price, or how close.
