Link to original post: To be a true fan...
I actually have been wanting to write a few blogs for a while. So, here they are. The first deals with being a fan.
A Story: Being in GA, one thing that I am used to hearing is how everybody hates Mango for some reason. for god knows what reasons (he's too cocky, he's not that good, blah, blah, blah...). I really feel that I am a lone wolf here in that Mango happens to be my favorite smasher. You can easily imagine the flak I get for this, most of which goes around the these words: You're just a front runner/fair weather fan! The moment he starts losing, you won't be his fan!
While this is an incredibly silly comment, it also made me realize the difference between a true fan and a fair weather one. A true fan feels the pain of whatever person or team that he happens to be cheering for. Every time the Patriots lose, I feel a little crummy myself (not the entire day, but for a little while @ least.). The same applies for the Southern Cal Trojans & The LA Lakers.
A fair-weather fan only feels for their team when they wins. So, if a team wins 15 games in a row or something, they will claim to be a fan. Such actions are truly perfidious.
However, always remember that true fans have nothing to be ashamed about cheering for their team. So, keep on cheering, true fans. And go, Lakers, Pats, Trojans, and Mango!
