I read all seven books and I've seen all 6 movies so far.

Either way, I can sum up this thread in one word:

Not to mention you left it up to us to find this social group if we have any interest in joining it...

It's not really against the rules if it's a SWF based advertisement. >.<

If you guys have a problem with a blog...

DON'T REPLY!

When did I say it was? I agree, it's not against the rules. I just felt like pointing out that it's an advertisement. If it were actually against the Global Rules, I wouldn't reply to it to say "LOL LOCKED" since that would be rather hypocritical.

I don't understand why I'm a villain for posting on a blog if I don't like it. I enjoy expressing my opinion on things, positive or not.

Yet we have to go into the Social Groups and find it if we wish to join it. Which is inefficient advertising. It would be much more efficient to link to it.

If you can actually close a blog for advertising...then what?

You can close a blog if it violates the Global Rules. This type of advertisement doesn't; however, don't go around thinking that blogs are immune to the rules. They are much less subject to the rules than the other areas of the forum, but not immune.

I didnt say blogs were immune to GRs. If a ****load of flaming is involved of course youll close it. What I meant is that you couldnt close this for advertising something here... if I wasnt clear enough

...Uh, "that guy" hasn't disappeared from SWF, so you don't have to refer to him as if he got banned or something.

If people weren't yelling at me I wouldn't have felt the need to post any more than once.

Also, contrary to popular belief, I don't care how my opinions make you feel. I'm entitled to whatever opinion I want to have.

Alright guys. I think we need to get back on topic here. What I think Firius was saying is that I narrowly avoided closure. But he did point out its advertisement........ so I really have to say this: Just get back on topic and drop the stupid fight. Its feuling lots of hatred right now

In other words, you decided to be a troll whilst telling me I'm a jerk?

Fail.

No, I really was just pointing out that it was an advertisement and I'm not a fan of most advertisements...but you're right, there's no point in arguing. I don't really like being the target of everyone's anger.

Anyways, the group looks interesting enough, despite my dislike of the advertisement itself. I can't guarantee how much I'll visit it, since Social Groups are a little inconvenient to keep up with...but I like Harry Potter.

I never said or thought you were being a jerk, don't put words in my mouth. It was just my opinion that you came off as high strung, and with the agenda to get a rise out of people. But I can see that you aren't now. Be my friend???

They went downhill fast, the last book was just bad.
Yes! Someone else who doesn't like this godawful piece of fiction. Seriously, people act like she invented fantasy because she happened to write a bunch of mediocre books when the genre was becoming popular. The best thing you can say about these is that she knows how plot twists work.

It occupies the same level as Twilight in my mind.

Although the third one was kinda good.

You can't put it on the same level as Twilight. The Twilight series are just all around bad, and are written specifically at the 13-30 female audience. The Harry Potter series is a pretty average fantasy book, but the author undeniably excels at plot twists (as you said) and characterization.

I'm not going to say Harry Potter is a masterpiece by any means. Just that Harry Potter is average while Twilight is just bad.

Peregrine, I don't think that the HP books were groundbreaking or anything; we just like them because they're good books in our opinion.

Also, HP > Twilight in every way IMO. That's probably the consensus, as a matter of fact, as I recall more critics receiving HP positively than they did Twilight.....

And even though the more recent HP movies are terribad, the Twilight movie has dreadfully bad acting.

The real issue here isn't with the books themselves, but their writer.
Now that the book is finished, JK is going around, telling people, Oh the book was about acceptance of homosexuals, the book was about the beauty of atheism, Dumbldore was gay. What, did I forget to mention all of those things in the book themselves? Doesn't matter, that's what I say now.
You are NOT allowed to do that in Literary criticism (no, its not the book review people).
From doing this, she has showed me that she doesn't understand literature.

Twilight wouldn't exist without Harry Potter.

Agreed, that really pissed me off. She didn't need to go around spouting **** like that, it had no relevance to the story at all.
