Now I kind of want to make an original character and not just me as a FE unit... I could just rework my Troubador from earlier with a different name and birthday, and maybe a couple of differences in personality.
I've spent little time with it because I was waiting for the micro SD to arrive, but I did fiddle around with MM a bit and can give you some impressions.
The advanced 3D tracking is not perfect, but nevertheless it is a vast improvement and works as advertised most of the time. If you don't use it in an earthquake, don't try to play at a 10 degree angle, and don't have Parkinson's, it will work for you. If you do have Parkinson's, then, well, I'm really very terribly sorry I made that joke.
It's true that you can still take or leave the 3D effect most of the time, but the fact that taking it isn't a chore or an endurance test means that you might actually do so, and that's a full-on win in my book. And yes, it looks pretty, it works fast, and it's just nice all round. Welcome to what the 3D function was supposed to be.
I haven't given the battery life the most rigorous testing, but I can tell you this much. The old 3DS had enough time to drain and recharge in the time it took the N3DS to drain to blinking red. I'd charged both to full prior to the transfer and only used them simultaneously since. That certainly gets my seal of approval. Even with the 3D on, should still be good.
The Nintendo Nipple C-stick works fine but is awkward to get used to, because it doesn't move. It's much like the little mouse button in the center of the keyboard on some old laptops. I feel fine using it as a camera adjuster, but for Smash? Well, guess we'll see.
Stylus placement, SD card placement, power button placement...the layout of this thing is basically insane. Compared to the previous iteration it really makes very little sense - I honestly found the 3DS to be incredibly well-designed in these regards, and no need to move them. I don't know who did. It doesn't feel like anything will come out of place, but it's jarring. Conversely, the headphone jack and power port get much less in your fingers' way now, you won't accidentally jack the volume up full blast in the middle of a quiet event (taking a dump, funerals, etc.) and thank based Miyamoto we have actual little round start and select buttons again.
Boo hoo there's no wifi switch. Let em cry, I never turned it off anyway. It's not much of a drain on the battery.
The light-sensing whatsis in there is doing hard work making my battery life awesome and my ability to see anything in MM abysmal. It skews darker than I'd like, anyway. That may be an issue. I'm sure there's some way to tweak that **** though, I just haven't had time to try.
The transfer process, as you've gathered, can be hell if you need to ad-hoc it via local wifi. Other than the wait, though, it's simple, you only have to do it once, and there's alternative methods. Access to the micro SD card requires a screwdriver now, which blows. If you have to access it often this could be an issue.
Outside of the games that take advantage of it, and the improved 3D, you will see some improved load times and less graphical hiccups, but overall the bottom line is that, for the few flaws the device possesses that its predecessor did not, all of them disappear when you play, and you're left with what is simply a better 3DS.
If you have any other specific concerns I can try to provide more specific answers.
Kinda out of topic right now, but just a little thing I found that reminded of @Moydow
maybe it'll call enough attention that he'll stop lurking and make a damn character already.
Anyway, who wants to support with Yu'Lee first? 8D
I suppose we'd have to create a conversation first to write the support though...let's see how this goes ;p

She is loyal to a fault and will do anything she can to help, even if it's a bit much for her. The army's most clumsiest.

If we are going to ahead with this, I think it would be a good idea to create a thread for a Fire Emblem forum game or something like that in the FE Social Group.
I'd play that ;p
A number of folks expressed interest in taking the custom character thing further. You should all muster up somewhere, whether it's the Forum Games forum or maybe the Fire Emblem social group.

Name: Conán (yay Irish name, and no, I'm not referring to this or this Conan)
Class: Archer
Class changes: Dark Mage, Priest
Stats: Starts out with decent Str, and Mag not far behind (unusually high for a physical class), but his Mag growth is miserable - he can expect to gain maybe 1 more point throughout the game, if he's lucky. His Res starts off similarly strong, but tails off quickly. Other stats are about average.
Recruitment Conditions: Talk with Robin or Chrom
Starting Equipment: Steel Bow, vulnerary
Profile: The only son of some Plegian lord or other. As a child, he was expected to follow the previous several generations of his family in the "noble" tradition of the Plegian dark mage and its worship of Grima, and was forced into studying elder magic against his wishes. One day while walking home from another torturous session of dark magic training, he happened across a wounded archer on the side of a road. Despite trying to help, the archer didn't survive, but he did leave the boy his bow and arrows before passing on. Since then, Conán trained with the bow in secret every day - until he was found by his father while attempting to skip a Grimleal indoctrination class. After an "incident" (not sure how edgy to go with that), he left the family home and has worked since then as a mercenary on meagre pay.
He usually acts open and sociable, and always has an (in)appropriate one-liner ready to go, but it's really a façade covering the scars of his childhood. In particular, he has difficulty accepting how Chrom seems to be comparatively unaffected by his own father's past deeds. He thinks he recognises Robin from somewhere (being the son of a Plegian lord and Grimleal nut), but never actually figures out how. The incident with the archer sometimes leads to him putting himself in danger if he sees any of his friends take even a slight injury.

IceAnt573 -1
Name: Ant (prefers to be called that)
Class: Dark Mage
Subclass: Mage/Myrmidon
Stats: Average HP, Low Defense, Average Res, High Speed, High Skill, Above Average Magic, Low Strength, Low Luck
Recruitment Conditions: Neutral unit, come talk to him before he gets swarmed by brigands.
Starting Equipment: Ruin, Concoction
Profile: Born from a family of clerics and monks, he always had a thirst for knowledge which the ancient arts have plenty to satisfy his pursuit. Unfortunately, his family didn't agree with his aspiration for life and tried to convince him otherwise. He got so fed up with it that he quietly left his family to further pursue understanding the dark arts. A sibling of his was allowed to give chase for him and this one in particular resents him for leaving. Is an eager person to learn, but not much for talking due to shyness.
Tends to get lost in thought which really comes back to bite him when he finally realizes the underground library he's exploring is full of bandits and other ruffians. He could really use some help at this moment.

The_Cardinal
Name: Abelard
Class: Darkflier (why are pegasus fliers only female and warriors only male anyways?)
Subclass: Dark mage (with promotion to either Druid or Dark Knight) and Wyvern rider
Stats: Average HP, skill, and attack. High magic, resistance and speed. Low defense, skill, and luck
Recruitment conditions: Help him defend the villagers from the enemies for 7 turns
Starting equipment: Javelin, elthunder, and concoction
Profile: A scholarly recluse embittered by his excommunication from the Church of (insert name). An arrogant, callous, and stubborn man who insists that the only one understand him is his pegasus, Heloise. Despite all of this, however, he nevertheless has a soft spot for the pious villagers who live near him and often visit him, even if its only to tease him mercilessly. The one most likely to go on a long lecture/rant if you get him started.
Elezir
Name: Yu'Lee (does it sounds like it's from Cho'sin? I don't know...8D)
Class: Is it bad that I wanted him to be a Bishop? It is? Ok then, Sage, then. (light magic needs to come back.)
Subclass:Dark Mage, Mage, Priest and Myrmidon/ Sorcerer, Dark Knight, War Monk, Swordsman and Assassin.
Stats: High Magic, Speed and Resistance; Meh Luck, Skill and HP; Low Defense and Str
Recruitment Conditions: Starts as an enemy on Chapter 17, together with the rest of the resistence members that are forced to attack you. Wait until the resistance members appear (and don't block the staircases!) to get Say'ri to talk to him.
Starting Equipment: Mend Staff, Arcfire and Concoction
Supports with (I can't help but add this little thing): Say'ry, Lon'qu, Lissa, Robin (duh), Libra, Gaius, Stahl, Donnel and Maribelle.
Profile: One of the soldiers in the little resistance that Say'ri formed to fight against Walhart, he was forced to attack Chrom's army after being threatened by Excellus together with other soldiers.
He wanted to learn Cho'sin swordplay when he was a kid, but never had much talent neither opportunity for it, and ended up learning magic instead.
He never liked wars, killing and didn't care for what was happening in Cho'sin, differently of his peers. His father, however, forced him into the resistance, which he resented him for. When Excellus started threatening the resistance's soldiers, he actually found it to be surprisingly easy to switch sides, musing that he probably lacked something the rest soldiers seemed to have. After seeing Say'ri's determination to save her country in Fort Steigner, he found that he was missing that kind of determination and decided to follow her lead, completely smitten with admiration and respect.
Can be a bit sarcastic and lazy sometimes, though.

I love this create-a-character game.
Delta Fist
Name: Cel (pronounced like Kel)
Class: Soldier
Subclass: Mercenary
Stats: Good Strength, Terrible Magic, High Skill, Average Speed, Moderate Defense, below average Resistance
Recruitment Conditions: Defeat me in the arena
Starting Equipment: Steel lance
Profile: Grew up in a small village where his mother served as a pegasus knight. Cel honed his skills through training and became the best fighter in his little town. Cel told his village that he was going out to test himself against the world, but in reality he wanted to go out and find himself. Has a strong sense of fighting for justice and detests killing unless it's necessary. Strives to protect people after growing up with a younger sister named Korcia. Still has the "big brother" mentality and will look out for the younger troops. Cel has a tendency to isolate and talk with himself, but he's pretty sociable and friendly. Has a soft spot for cute things, but doesn't like many people knowing about it. Can be often found pondering.
((I spent like 10 minutes trying to think of a name...))

Profile: A kind aspiring swordmaster in Valm. He seeks to defeat Walhart to bring an end to the conquering going on in the land. Raymond is gentle, loyal and caring to his allies but has trouble asserting himself. Has a grudge against Excellus, and wishes to kill him/her (I honestly have no idea what gender excellus is).
I hate thinking up names too.
KenithTheGatherer
Name: Kenith The Gatherer
Class: Archer
Subclass: Mercenary
Stats: + Skill
+ Speed
+ HP
+/- Defence
- Strength
- Magic
- Resistance
- Luck
Recruitment Condition: Clear the map with five or more unmarried (female) units alive.
Starting Equipment: Towering Bow
Profile: A lonely travelling hunter with a dark sense of humor. In contrast to his appearance, Kenith has poor combat skills, instead using his brooding voice and famously large bow to intimidate bandits and discourage conflict. He is, however, very friendly once you gain his trust.
Claims to be searching for a certain "special" someone, however no one knows what that really means.
IceAnt573 - 2
Name: Corrick, more famously known as "The Monster of Valm"
Class: Assassin
Subclass: Mercenary/Pirate
Stats: High HP, High Strength, High Skill, High Speed, Low Defense, Low Magic, Low Resistance, Low Luck
Recruitment Conditions: Start of Chapter along with Alith
Starting Equipment: Killing Edge, Killer Bow
Profile: Corrick is complete scum. He is the man responsible behind the infamous massacre that plagued one of the dukedoms of Valm. Eventually, he was caught and brought before the Duke. In a move that surprised everyone in the room, the Duke spared him and let serve a life sentence in prison instead. However, Walhart's plan of conquest soon found its way to the dukedom and in the Duke's final act before his death, he ordered his most skilled Sorceror to plant a curse on Corrick that causes him to protect the Duke's Daughter, Alith, until peace is brought back to the dukedom once more or else he dies should he fail. Corrick was promised freedom and exile into Regna Ferox if he fulfilled the curse. Corrick likes to get into people's heads. Infuriate them yet also manages to intimidate just through his words. Corrick doesn't understand or value other people much at all. However, the more time he spends with Alith the more he finds a semblance of humanity left in him. The one most likely to stab someone else.
Yeesh, I didn't mean for the profile to last that long, but I've always wanted there to be a playable character that's truly not a good person. I guess maybe Walhart falls under that, but even then he still has good intentions.
I also took some freedoms on how curses work in Awakening.[/quote]

Anyways...
Name: Xeno
Class: Tactician
Subclass: Any one of them
Stats: Completely balanced, except I have higher magic than strength.
Recruitment Options: Start of some chapter.
Starting Equipment: Thunder, Wind, and Fire
Stats: Medium HP, Good Strength, Great Speed, Medium Defence, Great Skills, Good Luck, Low Magic, Low Resistance, Great hit rate and dodge rate, good crit hit, 7 space moving
Recruitment Conditions: He is very neutral on the war, preferring to fight on his own side, not cause he is an egotis, but cause he isn't convinced either side is good. If payed the right price, he will fight for the paying side (though only if he considers them the good guys) or he can be convinced that the side he is fighting on is the good guys. He will know that he is fighting on the right side, not the winning side.
Profile: He is a very childish person, especially as he is only very young. He can be very cheerful, but also quiet at times and likes to send as much time by himself as with others. While people classify him as an assassin cause of his skills, he see himself more as a range. He doesn't fight in the thick of the battle, but rather sneaks along the side of the battle to the general, taking out anyone he crosses, though he prefers not to kill when he can. He has an eye for gold and treasure, stealing from anyone or thing expect the poor, to which he might give a small profit of his gold. He is very cheey and cocky, enjoying pickpocketing for his friends and hiding there stuff. He has a pet Fox name Vinx that always follows him and watchs his back. He uses his cockneys in battle to annoy and distract his enemies. Over all, he he is a great asset not only battle wise but also as a friend to cheer you up when you need it.

Let's see what we can do about this character stuff now.
Recruitment Conditions: Locate the "Imbiblis" tome in Chapter 6, then deliver it to Red in Chapter 7.
Starting Equipment: Imbiblis, Steel Sword, Vulnerary
Profile: Relaxed, with penchants for tinkering, philosophy, and drinks - pursuits that compliment each other surprisingly well - there's more to him than meets the eye despite his initially capricious nature. Although his actions occasionally make sense only to himself, his motives and kindness are ultimately genuine. Long nights working late into the evening have made it so that his eyes have trouble seeing in bright sunlight - or any sunlight really - leading him to use specially-made tinted glasses to compensate. An overall rather easygoing individual, he joins primarily for the entertainment.
His signature weapon, the Imbiblis tome, is a device of his own creation. Appearing as a locked tome, when the clasp is pressed a hidden flask is popped out from the side. In combat, after the casting animation, Red leaps forward and uses the tome's thickly reinforced cover to bash the enemy. Strangely, this deals Magic damage. Though generally very weak compared to other options, it is unique in that it bypasses resistance, which makes it a viable option against high-Res foes. Its damage is calculated based on level rather than its user's Mag stat - which is good, because Red's Mag stat, while higher than most fighters initially, increases very little overall.
With all this said, his talents as a fighter are generally preferred. His Str, Skl and Spd growths ensure he'll hit fast, accurate, and hard, and he doubles enemies fairly easy. However, his defenses are only average, and his poor Luk limits his useful skills and makes critical hits unreliable at best.
BindingShield
Tomas-
A former Plegian Bandit who's turned over a new leaf. He's surprisingly pleasant to talk to, despite his former profession, but will often speak sadly about his own past and ideas. The most easily lost in thought.
Base Class: Archer
Possible reclasses: Archer, Thief, Cavalier.
Roster: A former bandit who turned a new leaf after being given the opportunity. Although he manages a cheerful facade, some say he seems a bit off in his words and actions. The most talented at baking cakes.
Ixa:
Possible Supports. Chrom, Robin, Luso , Henry, Stahl, Yenfey, Tharja, Cordelia, Cherche, Lissa, Emmeryn, Sayri
Base Class: Dark mage
Class List: Dark mage, Cleric(When in these class lines, Ixa wears Robin's tactician robe. She is a Grimleal Cleric, not a priest of Naga), mercenary.
Roster: The second born daughter to a minor Plegian Lord, and a devout Grimleal who has a burning grudge against Prince Chrom after a near death experience during the Ylisse-Plegia war. Her skill at magic is undeniable, but her sociability is up for question. The worst at reading maps.
Young Horsetail
Name:Aika (A-e-ka) Class: Monk
Subclass: Troubadour, Myrmidon Stats: High Luck and Resistance, Decent Magic and HP, Average Attack and Speed, Low Defense.
Recruitment Conditions: In the map she debutes in, she's captured, while the enemies in the map will take "Desert Star", an ancient pendant from a throne inside a tomb. You have to steal the pendant back, though that will have Aika will pursue YOU in the map in fury despite the orders of the ones who captured her, and attack your units on sight. You'll have to talk her down with MU and tell that you're not in there to steal the artifacts inside the tombs, which will have her join your side reluctantly.
Starting Equipment: Lightning, Silence, Babylone (A rod which makes the unit covered around in sandstorm or other terrain, giving more avoidance like in the games when stepped in a forest or similar terrain)
Profile: A rather hot-headed yet very intelligent priest who guards the tombs of the ancient in the faraway desert. Aika has rather peppery temper which can have her act easily on impulse and hatred due paranoia of people wanting to raid the tombs as far as she had lived. She also has a tendency to try impressing people by showing her vast knowledge of their culture and living, yet has eccentric, strange ways and words to express them. However, it's implied that she has underlying hope of goodness in people of other countries she has come to despise...
The one to always make goofy impersonations of other people to her, and others' amusement.
Went for an "egyptian" girl here. IDK why, maybe because I played Cleopatra Fortune lately.
Moydow
Took out all the quotes so it wouldn't become a quote fest, too
And ye, I know not everyone will want to play, but it's still nice to keep all ocs in one place.
