I'll never use Japanese honorifics and be genuine about it. It's a form of half-humour. In this case, it was a humourous way to refer to you as a younger man to be held of esteem, much like some people elsewhere jokingly refer to me as "aniki".

I value you dearly, and don't need honorifics or customs to tell you that. :)

Oh @ NonSpecificGuy NonSpecificGuy please like my post and give me a sense of fulfillment and acknowledgment I never had as a child.

Honestly? My first few files, me neither. Let's face it: No one besides Lucina has any consequence to the story. They are all fluff. You're unlikely to use them all, or even like them all. You may recruit them and never hear from them again outside of the Barracks.

Suppose it's nice to have them all at least once just to see how they are like first hand, but that aside... Eh.
We'd get along well IRL. Earthbound, Fire Emblem, and good fashion sense. \o/
We do share those similar interests...

However you must know:

Well, none of us are 'good' all the time, are we?

True and yes. (I'm probably only missing a few though) Just sucks cuz I feel like I'm outside of an inside joke that every hardcore Awakening fan knows about.
I haven't gone to the trouble of simply looking up all the children.

Real talk. You want to see all the kids? You want to see those convos? Look 'em up. Highly, highly recommended. Honestly, the earlier the better.

I had all my child pairings planned out just in time to get Chrom hitched, and although matchmaking felt odd, I did it once and never, ever had to stress again, which was worth the whole mess.

it's also helpful to set up practical pairings if you plan to put the children to work later on. If you're a masochist running Lunatic+, for example.

Great list hong and while "don't speak her name" can not be described in words how beautiful it is, fro some reason, I prefer to listen to Id (sorrow) when I am sad.
It makes me feel like I am saying bye to an old friend :crying:
I also love listen to these to pieces of Zelda music. There just so, breathtaking

aw crap, now I'm sad on Valentines day :crying:.
To me, Fii's Farewell was always a very happy song with hopeful undertones in it. You know, the end of a great opression. The freeing of the shackles that bound us with endless textboxes and unnecessary infodumps.

Ugh. If only every aspect of Skyward Sword was as good as the music and the dungeon design. The two things I will gladly applaud the game for.
But away from my old grudge and onwards to much more fun things:
Since we had music making the rounds:

Just... that beat plus the awesome track itself:

Have some amazing final dungeon (or similiar) tracks:

Since MM 3D got released yesterday (in Europe) I also have a good excuse to post those two:

Oh, and since it's missrepresented in MM, I also get another excuse to show this off:
Sadly, I don't think there's a properly recorded version of this orchestration without the audience noises :{

Not always.

When Robin was revealed:

When we slow things down a bit and talk about our feelings:

When we're talking gameplay tactics:

When somebody is upset:

Whenever we find another Tactician in the fields:
When I see Hong posted something: :3

Um...Ahem.
Oh don't mind me begrudging the game.
If you liked it, loved it: More power to you!
Just because I mostly saw a lot of wasted potential it doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't enjoy the game. I wish I could've.

Thank you Drakonis for putting things so much nicer than I would have.

Normally I am pretty level, but wow whenever I get talking about Skyward Sword... :054:

I still firmly fit in the MM/TP camp myself, since I prefer the characterization those games offer. But other than the rather silly motion-sensitive patience-based combat, I actually liked SS quite a bit.

And I'll condede the dungeon design point any day. TP Temple of Time, man. You want a real letdown, that's got your back.

Thinking of it's flaws makes me pretty livid, too. Skyward Sword felt like a personification of all the problems the 3D Zelda games have had over the years. It was still bearable, thanks of the few things it DID do well, but if it went just a single step farther, the series may plunge into a darkness from which it wouldn't be able to recover.

But I have calmed down about it quite a bit. A Link between Worlds helped with that. Reassured me the developers can still learn from mistakes.
And the promise of an open world Zelda on the horizon? I'm not worried anymore.

I gain nothing from other people thinking the same way as I do about SS. But if they like the game, they gain some joy. And that is something worth preserving.

I felt that skyward sword was more of an atmospheric, adventuring game while, games like Link between worlds are more gameplay and dungeon focused. I should really replay Majora's mask on my wii. I bought it and OoT a long time ago.
I probably like this song mainly to nostalgia playing melee with friends but I still think it's a pretty alright song.

Yeah they went a little overboard with Fi and how she kind of stopped you every single time you went into a new area.

I mean, for a first playthrough, Skyward Sword was great for me, but I am hard-pressed to play through it a second time. Especially when the difficulty is arbitrarily increased (Hero Mode)

I've actually never played a zelda game (go ahead, crucify me now for being a heretic) but I'm thinking about possibly getting the one coming out for wii u just cause. So I've been wondering for a while, which Zelda game is typically regarded as having the best combat, not taking into account of dungeon design and exploration. This is coming from someone whose first idea of an action game is Devil May Cry or Bayonetta as opposed to the more balanced God of War and Uncharted.

Best combat?
Look no further than Twilight Princess.
It has the most "blade to blade" type monsters, has the most involved and diverse swordplay, and if you so please, fight as a freaking wolf.
Wind Waker is close, but it it easier and is lighter on the enemies.

Yep. Loved the special attacks you can learn in TP. The wolf form sadly gets kinda left in the dust later on, combat wise, since it doesn't get any upgrades.
Most other Zeldas aren't all that involved in combat. The 3D Zeldas are usually "wait for an opening and strike" and the 2D Zeldas are surprisingly button-mashy.
Though it's all pretty fun, but I wouldn't compare it to stylized combat games like Devil May Cry/Bayonetta or even God of War.

Yeah, although really it's still really effective against certain types of enemies and I enjoy travelling and exploring as a wolf much more than human.
Mortal Draw is still really OP, though.

Oh yeah. It's quite hilarious how often I sheathed the sword mid-combat just to pull it off. :D

I also LOVE the victory sheathing animation Link will do after you defeat a bigger enemy and immediately put away your weapon. It's (I believe) his up-taunt since Brawl for a reason. :3

That's my favorite dungeon in any Zelda game...
If it's for a nostalgia factor, or the expansion of a well-beloved area, or the gorgeous art design, or the fact that you can command giant ****ing statues to drop the hammer and dispense some indiscriminate justice, I can get behind that.
The Sacred Grove was...eh. But the Door of Time? Magnificent. That was magnificent. Magnificent entrance...and then we arrived.

And prepare yourself, cause it's full blast from here.

The Dominion Rod was woefully underutilized, the backtracking mechanic just a way to make half a dungeon stretch to a full dungeon length, and having to wander those statues around was just godawful. Direct control transfer would have been preferable in my opinion. And the music, while appropriate inasmuch as you could nearly hear a clock in it, was one of the more forgettable themes I've ever heard in a dungeon. And all the other things it did well, other temples did equally well. There were some solid combats, for example, but there was spectacular combat all over the place - that's something the whole game excelled at.

If it makes you feel any better, I truthfully felt that, after the Arbiter's Grounds, most of the TP dungeons went noticeably downhill. Snowpeak Ruins was pretty nifty in theory, and competent in execution, but neither the Temple of Time nor the City in the Sky really blew me away The Arbiter's Grounds was. And more than anything, I'm just immensely disappointed, because they all were awesome concepts and I feel like a little more refinement might've done the job. And don't get me started on the Twilight Realm. Goddammit that was a massive letdown too.

TP is still my second-favorite Zelda, but that's for its atmospheric qualities, storytelling, and especially its combat, more than its level design.

Yeah they went a little overboard with Fi and how she kind of stopped you every single time you went into a new area.
Fi was just...not a good companion. They had a long string of solid companions - Tatl, King of Red Lions, Midna, Linebeck, Spirit Zelda, possibly Ezlo (never played Minish). Then Fi. They played that probability-calculating AI angle way too goddamn hard,

Agggh.

Dear Based Miyamoto. Please just make the companion in Zelda Wii U not suck. Thanks, sincerely, Red.

[EDIT]: And now that I've spewed all my words out, something positive.

Best combat?
Look no further than Twilight Princess.
Yes.

****ing.

Sir.

Literally every game in the series needs to take some notes from TP's swordplay. That **** was beyond top notch.

Sure, Mortal Draw is OP, but I'll take that for all the other fun toys we get in return. Helm Splitter is just. So. Satisfying.

Yes, yes, yes! I was around 9 when I played TP and that one animation blew me the **** away every. Single. Time.
It's so cool. Although it has less of an impact in Smash Bros. as Link in Smash 4 is really lifeless.

It's the statues.
It's actually not my favorite Zelda dungeon, that is the Shadow Temple.
With the Water, Spirit and Earth (WW) Temples being honorable mentions.
But I really like the music and the statues.
I want a whole game based around the idea of the Dominion Rod.

After additional consideration, I think Forest Temple from OoT takes it for me, for sheer atmosphere. But that said.

The statues pissed me off due to execution. With all the backtracking, yes, a statue that followed your movements was probably necessary, but if they didn't have that? Imagine direct control. Hell, swap between them for all I care (swapping between characters gets just as tedious sometimes), but give me the option to desync.

Honestly, if that was included, I would totally go for a Dominion Rod based game.

...hmm. Having thoughts now.

Even as probably the biggest fan of TP on this forum...City in the Sky can go **** itself.
Most annoying, obtuse, and boring dungeon in a Zelda game.

Not to mention it's supposedly where the Dominion Rod originated and you don't even use it there.

Sounds like someone wants to increase their support levels
Oh my, but isn't that what we do the most?:troll:

Welp, people talking about Zelda already.

Well, the only Zelda game I've ever finished is Twilight Princess.
The other I never finished because...well...I lost interest midway, I suppose, mostly because I'm not a fan of dungeon crawlers with puzzles, and always liked the traditional (read: turn based) rpg's better.
Plus most of Zelda's storyline never got me interested, nor the characters did, with the exception with TP, and even in that one I'd say it was because the battle system got me hooked more (and Midna is awesome).
Another thing that always annoyed me in Zelda games is the fact that Link is a silent protagonist, and this kind of protagonist just works when everyone else around him is so much bigger, imo. Say, Crono, from Chrono Trigger, for example.
He's a silent protagonist, but everyone else in his little group of misfits has so defined and likeable personalities, with little quirks and traits, that it just doesn't matter. You can pretty much guess his relationship with everyone else by their reactions to him.
Yes, I use this game as an example a lot, because it was what got me into games and rpgs for starters. that's why I'm so salty about Square enix just damn forgetting this game exists sometimes If it wasn't for Chrono Trigger, I'd probably not be here right now
Now, in Zelda's game it's a bit more complicated because most games have Link alone in his journey, and when it gives him a partner, they almost always give a, oh dear :4palutena:, Navi of sorts *shudder* (I swear, Navi made me give up on Ocarina of time. I wanted to murder that little annoying thing so much)

Never played SS, though, so can't say anything about that.

If Navi annoyed you so much you quit playing OoT, for the love of whatever you believe in, don't play SS.
Fii would make you hang yourself with the Nunchuck cord.
