I like winning matches uninterrupted by hazards and items too much, so honestly I'm a little peeved that Sakurai pulled the whole "Here's FD, now every stage is competitive! This is what you wanted right?"

Sakurai could have not just put forth the effort to make the Omega stages, like in Brawl.
Plus pretty much the only competitively viable stages in Brawl came back in this game anyway (except Yoshi's Island)

Rappy & Demo? Can't say I know what those videos are about.

And hey, regarding Lyn in Smash...
At least she'll be playable in Project M. :D

Can't say I'm exactly pleased with the Wii U version's stage lineup as well. Besides Mushroom Kingdom U, Pilotwings, Jungle Hijinks, and the Great Cave Offensive, I actually don't like most of what I have seen from in-game footage, although admittedly I haven't tried out the game yet, so I'll have to withhold any final thoughts on that part. I'm probably one of the few people out there who unironically likes Magicant as a stage, even with the Flying Men on there.

I'm personally hoping that the development team will put most, if not all of their efforts into making some truly excitable stages as DLC, because I don't imagine that whatever they're intending to do with character DLC will be very promising to what most fans here are hoping for (with the exception of Mewtwo).
you know that spoilers mean nothing without context right.

Thanks...

So I have a habit for playing with someone on For Glory for hours I guess. Ran into another person online last night and fought him for a good 2-3 hours I think. Had some really nice fights with him and pulled off some nice stuff with Robin and Falcon.

But I have noticed that my Robin will tend to make people rage quit I matches sometimes. If I beat their first stock pretty soundly and get some momentum going on the second, some will tend to just kill themselves and quit out. One of the most memorable ones was when I caught this guys roll with a reverse Falcon Punch. After respawning he just walked off the ledge and left the room.

TL;DR= My Robin makes some people online mad. My Falcon has that effect too, but I think my Robin has a tendency to be more disrespectful.

Oh my goodness, this needed to be shared.
AWESOME. I immediately started following the artist who made these drawings as soon as I saw them.

And those OR/AS Miiverse drawings on his/her profile are just splendid.

While I couldn't find any pictures of F!Robin and Pokemon on Pixiv, I did find pictures of Lucina and Pikachu together that I also wanted to share.

I could just see Robin getting into competitive Pokemon after meeting back up with the Shepherds after the event of the game. He'd have to keep the strategy crafting fresh somehow!

I headcanon male Robin as being a metagamer, and female Robin just choosing all the cute pokemon. And getting crazy hax to beat him every single time.

Playing FE7.

Does anyone use Dorcas, Wil, Erk, or Rath seriously? Because I find it hard to have them fight when Florina, Lucius, the two Cavaliers, and Matthew are pulling their weight.

Oh, also, I wanted to say that since I've been using Robin more, I've gotten slightly better with him. It's kinda funny. In a lot of ways, he's Little Mac's opposite.

my Erk was pretty good on my first playthrough, then he was kinda meh on the 2nd and stopped using him entirely afterwards. Never got around using Florina (I prefer Fiora for airborne units), and I drop the cavaliers after the first chapters.

It's been too long since we've had a Chrom joke.

Speaking of, I highly advocate listening to the song below. It's almost a Fire Emblem song with the right context.

As mentioned elsewhere, I'm not too far in FE7 yet (just got Rath) but the cavaliers do 99% of the fighting. Florina I need to use more, but I'm paranoid because I already almost lost her. I actually do use Erk a bit, but I've only had him a couple chapters, so we'll see.

As for Will and Rath, even in Awakening, I barely touched Archers.

Erk sometimes, Dorcas maaaaaybe, the archers never. I also tend to drop Lucius and a cavalier at some point along the way, and Florina when the other pegasus knights turn up (she also has the dubious honour of being the only unit I've let die post-recruitment, and didn't reset the level for).

Also, even for the cavaliers, it's mostly Kent. He does more than LYN.

I honestly find cavaliers in the GBA games in particular really bad, in my playthroughs at least Kent and Sain usually only focus on 1 stat (skill and strength respectively), making them nearly worthless after the first chapters and being better replaced by just about any pre-promoted unit. The must in my teams usually include Rebecca, Canas, Fiora and usually Raven unless he's really RNG screwed. I also like taking Pent & Louise due to their initial A support and because I never have that many units being better fit. Lucius is generally good too, and an assassin might be a good choice (although by the time I can get to promote one I'm almost finished with the game, and I prefer not using Jaffar), I wish I could say I like Dart but I never got to promote him despite getting him to 20 once or twice before. And I usually take the bard/dancer with me, they are actually pretty decent and dodging.

Dorcas can pull his weight for a bit, but is generally outclassed by a large number of units due to his poor speed growth and lack of other redeeming features.

Wil is an archer, meaning he has the whole 'I don't really have an enemy phase' problem. Beyond that, he's also generally considered inferior to Rebecca. He has a more reliable strength growth, but for the Archers, doubling tends to be the more important stat. He's also more defensively sturdy if he DOES get hit, but Rebecca's Resistance is better, making her much more reliable than he is for killing mages.

Rath would be basically a better version of Wil, if not for the fact that he joins in Chapter 22. That's..... pretty bad for a unit that's bow-locked until promotion. If you can get him to promotion, he gains Swords and basically becomes Wil with a speed growth on a horse. Generally you can pass on him, his support options are lacking anyway.

Erk is a fine mage by series standards. At 20/20 he's pretty likely to have solid stats. The problem is he's in the same game as Pent, who joins COMPLETELY RNG-Proof and able to take on the entire rest of the game (complete with A rank Staves), so why bother with Erk at all when they give you Pent? He's passable, but generally not worth the effort with Pent around.

Also, you guys are out of your minds. Kent and Sain (Sain especially) are both RIDICULOUSLY good by GBA Cav standards. Excluding the fact that Sacred Stones has inflated growths for basically every unit, those 2 are by far the best in the context of their game. And they support each other.

(Also, Florina is the best Peg. Farina close second. Fiora sucks.)

Not to turn this into a hipster-battle (I like that Awakening has made the Fire Emblem series more popular, and dislike it when the, 'you're only a true fan of this series if you liked it at this point in time' claim is used), but who here has been playing the Fire Emblem games since FE7 came out in the west? I brought the game over 10 years ago, and am stoked that it has been re-released on Virtual console. Does anyone know if it comes with the content you could only get from that extra disc that came with Mario Kart Double Dash? I thought a few of the items you could get were neat, and to my knowledge you can't unlock all the songs in sound test without it.

I wish I did. As I've said before, I've been wanting to try the series since Melee. I'm trying to make up for lost time now. I don't know if I'll play ALL the games, but I'd at least like to try to play most of the ones released in English (except maybe Shadow Dragon).

I'm an oddball since I actually played FE3 and 4 prior to Melee, among a variety of other amazing games I could hardly read at the time. Did not get back into the series until FE8 and eventually 9. After that, I just had to play through them all.

I'd get around to playing the JP FE games if I wasn't terrified that it would threaten my chances of getting a job with required extensive background checks if said checks happened to find that I used emulators in the past.

Overreaction? Maybe. Still hesitant.

I have at least tried every Fire Emblem game, including the Japanese only titles on Famicom and Super Famicom (technically emulation, but still). The first game was FE7, then I eventually picked up future titles. Ironically, Fire Emblem: Awakening was the title that made me give up on Fire Emblem because of the extensive pandering making the experience unbearable and tainted my views for the new fans and future titles. Hell, I would even play Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon over Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Sorry for not wanting to squander 3 years of hard work because I decided I wanted to play Gaiden.
