If the stage isn't Pokéfloats, I will scream.

Eh, or not. At least Pokémon Stadium was made when Pokémon Stadium was still relatively new, and wasn't just copying a stage from before. Plus, I do have some nostalgia for the original.
If the stage is Pokéfloats, I will scream (internally, of course).

I'm just not fond of stages that are completely made up for Smash and aren't inspired by anything from the original games. Frankly, Pokéfloats doesn't exist; there's nothing even remotely close to it in the actual series. That sort of thing annoys me.

Trust me, out of the stages that haven't returned yet, it's my second lowest. The only reason I have it above Stadium is that at least it's different. We already have Stadium 2.

And that's why I have a burning hatred of Stadium 2. Stadium you could vaguely argue was related to the relevant at the time Stadium spin-offs. It was also a time when the Pokémon world was much smaller and had less locations to choose from. In Brawl, we had Hoenn and Sinnoh. We did get a Sinnoh stage. As for Hoenn... Hey, how about Sootopolis? Cave of Origin? Battle Frontier? Mt. Chimney? Slateport? Nah, just slightly tweak that stage from Melee based off a spin-off no longer producing sequels and slap a new thing or two on it! SSB4 has even less excuse, because now we have Unova and Kalos, plus remade Johto that came just after Brawl and even the Distortion World from Platinum. Imagine a gorgeous Bell Tower stage, or Radio Tower, or Mt. Silver with Red as a cameo!

In terms of returning stages for me, it goes Saffron City>Spear Pillar>>Pokéfloats>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pokémon Stadium>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pokémon Stadium 2 (even though it's already in).
Watch Mewtwo come with New Island.

It's already anime!Mewtwo, may as well go all the way.
I could live with that. They already threw anime references into the trophy descriptions anyway.

considering the "new" flat zone, I'm surprsied they didn't mix both Stadiums into one
Is it weird that I wouldn't mind that, at least over Stadium 2 alone? They could even take it a step further and make a transformation for every single type. Then at least it feels more like it's representing something from the games, even if vaguely.

nah, it's not weird, it'd save up stages slot and make the stadium concept a lot more interesting. Now I really want to see a Cave of Origin stage though, thanks shaymin, have at you

I don't know what you people are talking about. 8 player smash on pokefloats would be like the best thing ever. :troll:

(No seriously though, I would like Saffron city to return)

Making people want things that will never happen is my job!

Shame OR/AS just missed SSB4, though, since it'll fall into the same trap as HG/SS in this game of being too new for the last SSB and too old for the next one.

Because Shaymins are notorious for hating bowling.

Honestly, if you're playing purely for fun, it might actually be genuinely fun. Still better than the Yellow Devil or either Pac-Man stage.

And agreed. A remastered Saffron City would be absolutely fantastic.

Everyone will always agree that Lyndis would be a rad fighter in Smash. Bless. (In fact, if I could ever be honest: Lyndis > Chrom. But I'll always be the guy to pick both types of hot and badass.)

Also @ AustarusIV AustarusIV , watching Rappy & Demo-videos made me think of your duo of :4robinf: & :4charizard:.

On stages, now I'm even more annoyed how some funner choices were put to 3DS-version. No HD Magicant. No HD Arena Ferox. No HD Pac-Maze. Why. We really could use DLC to bring our wished old stages back again.

So I return, after being very ill for several days, to find people talking about Dark Pit, Dr. Mario and Roy. *sigh* I'm just going to try and make this quick as I have a lot of my mind in regards to the subject.

I like the inclusion of Dark Pit, Dr. Mario and of course, Lucina. I never understood this dogma laid out by people saying that, if your a clone, you deserve to be crapped on, spat upon, hated, and your the worst thing since the plague. Honestly, I just don't get it. They're considered bonus characters who didn't remove anyone from the roster or take up any "slots" from the roster, yet people complain about them and treat them as though they are crap characters who are lazy and don't belong. If I were to agree with that, I would be a hypocrite given how much I enjoy using Lucina, clone and all. Personally, I don't hate on any characters because they all have they're own fan bases and as long as somebody enjoys that character being in the game, that's all that matters. I think we all need to respect that these characters exist, are in the game, and that people do enjoy them existing and being characters, regardless of if they are a clone or not. I'm happy they exist as long as someone else is happy they exist, regardless of my own personal feelings on the matter. Who am I to deprive someone of a character they wanted, even if they are a clone character? I think it would be beneficial to all to shed this unnecessary hatred for clone characters and realize that, just because they exist, doesn't mean they are the spawn of Grima or anything as foul as that.

Just my two cents on the matter. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone as that was not my intention. I just want this senseless topic to die out someday, although I know that's probably unlikely to ever happen. I'll just leave this pic as my final say on the topic.

I honestly would not mind seeing Lyn as a "quick-draw" swordmaster like Vergil or Kenshin. You see this sub-type of swordfighters a lot in "anime fighters," so inspiration can be taken from as well. For example, you can make Lyn even more unique by giving her a command dash that both goes a set distance and is cancellable to another dash or regular attacks instead of giving her a regular dash. This would actually still fit with her design and her GBA sprite animation.

To be fair, the literal spawn of Grima is one of the most popular newcomers.

My current issue with some of the clones is that I wish we had more IMPRESSIVE clones rather than carbon copy "bonus" clones we're about to get. They tend to create confusion and well, indignation because at the end they are more weighed by popularity/bias more than an actual gameplay variation (Dark Pit being biggest offender), something that goes against the philosophy of putting in characters to Smash (and how Brawl did amazingly with most of it's clones.)

I mean, it's not that bad, but I find the quality compared to Brawl (with Lucas and Wolf versus Tink) really taking steps backward - because nowadays you can be a "clone" if they slightly modify few specials and then slap an OHKO Final Smash on you.

This is why I see Pittoo as an overglorified Alt Costume rather than a "clone". He's not even doing what a good clone should be: offer a different kind of gameplay experience despite being based on an existing character heavily. Doc and Lucina can do that at least. Few modified specials and and FS frankly is more comparable to a custom character in Sm4sh (which you can even modify stats via equipment.)

It's good for those who like their clones, but I'm quite sad we're gonna just see clones being now merited by favoritism or popularity more, and then get not much work to make them see more than either bonus or fodder, depending on the fanbases. Sadly enough Sakurai himself seems to encourage hate and ridiculing to those thinking they're fodder, when perhaps they are confused of sudden change of quality and criteria regarding playable cast (wow, really). But eh, if we have to have bonus to specific fanbase that might not add much to the game for majority of others, then ah well.

I just wish we had it better than we have now.

No, don't get wrong, I love all of the clones in Smash Bros.
The reason I think Dark Pit was a bad idea has nothing to do with him being a clone, it's the fact he is sort of a worthless addition regardless. That being said, I don't hate him, he is not worth my hate. Although he does nicely as a "training" partner.

Clones are not worth the perceived response from the typical end user.

The fact they add so little to the game is all the reason to not do it. No one would ever raise an eyebrow if they were just costumes.

Edit - Well, I suppose people would still find it odd to see Lucina with Marth's animations.

I honestly would use Lucina more if she was a pure Marth clone even if her having his animation was odd. But as things stand now, she's just Marth without tippers. But I want the tippers so I have no reason to use her. I was mildly hyped when I saw her revealed as a clone because I thought she would either be an updated Roy or play like a hyper glass cannon Captain Falcon with a sword, either of which would have been cool.

Fair enough. I'm glad your at least respectful to those who like they're clones and I respect your opinion and understand where your coming from. To each they're own, my friend, to each they're own. ^_^

I decided to switch up to For Fun since Conquest hasn't updated for me yet. I think it's amusing how most of my opponents tend to ignore me while I charge up a Thoron, and they make fairly predictable approaches. Being one step ahead of the competition, I won all of those matches with :4robinm:.

As for the clones, I've always preferred them over their originals for the most part, the only exceptions being Lucas (Ness>him for me), Pichu, and Doc since I never really liked their main counterpart to begin with. Even with Dark Pit, Lucina, and Ganondorf, they offer enough differences for me to enjoy their fighting style over Pit, Marth (I still love ya Foxy Grandpa), and Falcon. I honestly don't see what's with the uproar over bonus characters since they're just that: additions that wouldn't affect the roster any differently even if they weren't around. I still want Wolf to come back :[

I don't mind clones, especially since these were added super late anyway, but I can't say I'm in love with them, either. I really do wish Lucina was tweaked to be made slightly more unique than just tipperless Marth. Even a different final smash would be okay by me. I expected to use Lucina a lot more since she's a clone of one of my traditional secondaries/comains, but oddly enough, while I like using her and she's reliable, I prefer Robin, ZSS, and Shulk, among a few others.

I used to dislike Dark Pit strongly, but using him made me grow on me. Mainly, Electroarm. I wish he was less of a clone just so the rest of his moves could match the awesomeness of his Electroarm. I'm not fond of using normal Pit.

Rappy & Demo? Can't say I know what those videos are about.

And hey, regarding Lyn in Smash...
At least she'll be playable in Project M. :D

Can't say I'm exactly pleased with the Wii U version's stage lineup as well. Besides Mushroom Kingdom U, Pilotwings, Jungle Hijinks, and the Great Cave Offensive, I actually don't like most of what I have seen from in-game footage, although admittedly I haven't tried out the game yet, so I'll have to withhold any final thoughts on that part. I'm probably one of the few people out there who unironically likes Magicant as a stage, even with the Flying Men on there.

I'm personally hoping that the development team will put most, if not all of their efforts into making some truly excitable stages as DLC, because I don't imagine that whatever they're intending to do with character DLC will be very promising to what most fans here are hoping for (with the exception of Mewtwo).

I can pay 43$ for a Duck Hunt Kirby amiibo, or 53$ for a Robin Kirby amiibo. Should I go for either of them?

So I'm not too pleased with many of the stages either that's in the new Smashes. I feel that Sakurai made a lot of the stages that weren't previous installments rather ridiculous due to the fact we now have the FD variants.

Oh you want tourney legal stages? Here, have a whole list of FD stages and Battlefield. The concept is a good idea so we can at least enjoy some other music, but the fact that there seem to be so few stages legal that aren't FD or Battlefield is rather disappointing. Granted that some stages were made to cater to 8 player Smash, I still think that we could have had some other stages that don't have crazy hazards or have so many walk offs.

As for the actual designs themselves, I was impressed by stages like Orbital Gate Assault and Kalos Pokemon League. They look amazing, but they are almost not fun to play on due to the hazards. One of the only few stages that I was really excited about was Arena Ferox, both Unova and Kalos Pokemon Leagues, Boxing Ring, and Mute City (SNES). The others weren't too impressive or just that I wasn't a big fan of the series. There were more stages that I don't like over the ones that I I do. I'm still salty over the fact that we had so many stages from Brawl return.

Frankly, I don't care weither a stage is tournament friendly as long as it's fun to play on. And in that light, Smash 4 is by far the best entry in the series yet.

I like most of the new stages and love a handfull of them, like Gerudo Valley (kinda sad it's not on the WiiU version).

Well, I'm the opposite way. Smash Wii U has by far my favorite stage lineup in the series.
I've always mentioned the ones I like, but even the ones I don't like (with exceptions) have something redeeming about them.

Frankly, now that there's so many stages in this game, especially if you count the Omega versions, that in almost every match it is a new experience.
As a person who doesn't play competitively (yet) I don't really care if a stage is "legal" if it's fun.

I'll agree on the whole legality thing of the stages, while I wouldn't call every stage on WiiU necessarily good, what I look upon a stage is something that makes it stand out from the rest through one way or another, that's why I find boring the likes of Colosseum, because what actually happens is incredibly boring and hardly changes anything. It's one of the things I like about Smash Bros, choosing a stage actually matters instead of being just a boring random change of background like in almost any other fighter ever, and if I want a normal battle with no obstacles in between, that's what battlefield and final destination are there for (although there's always a limit as to how much a hazard should affect a fight, and I haven't seen a sidescroller stage been done right in smash yet).
Edit: also fully agree on what hong said on clones, if you like them more power to you, but I feel they really add nothing of value a reskin couldn't have done. If they were at least more defined like the clones in Brawl I wouldn't mind so much, but the ones introduced in Smash 4 (or returned in case of Doc), feel like an artificial way to make the roster look bigger to me.
