Opinions are opinions I suppose and I respect yours. However, I implore you to replay both, they are fantastic games that are outcast because of the dedication required to be invested alone. Give them another shot, is all I'm saying.

I've honestly grown to hate the term overrated. If you dislike something popular/acclaimed, that's one thing. We all have different tastes, and not everyone will love the same thing. But, usually the word overrated is used in a way that makes the person saying it look smug, plus it's usually a "get out of actually criticizing something free" card.

Sorry, but when I think of 3D platformers, DK is not up there with the likes of Mario 64, Croc and Croc 2, and Sonic Adventure.

DK64 was just bad, but it had some fun ideas in there ruining it. It was actually playable.

The Croc series was a series released on the Saturn and Playstation(?), they weren't that good but they became cult hits because they were so strange.

Take your time, not right now. But, seriously, do a replay of the 90's platformers. I suggest playing in this order, Croc, Croc 2, Sonic Adventure, Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie (yes, I know it hasn't been mentioned but still), then DK64. Trust me, it will change your view on platformers.
Congrats on aceing your Cal test and Lab, by the way.

DK64 wasn't technically a bad game, it's just that...there were so many damn collectibles to find that I got sick of playing it.

That, and the Donkey Kong Arcade game you had to beat twice was a product of Hell just plain unbeatable.

I absolutely LOVED Croc 1, it was the best. Never got to paly number two and lost my copy of number 1 .

As a big Sonic fan since 1995, I can attest Sonic Adventure was garbage at best. Sonic Adventure 02 had decent Sonic/Shadow levels, but the Tails/Eggman and Knuckles/Rogue levels were garbage as well, only serving to drag down the quality of the game.

In fact, as far as 3D platformers* are concerned, SEGA only managed to make a truly good Sonic game with Colors on the Wii (the day stages in Unleashed were great, but the night stages... Geez, SEGA), then with Sonic Generations... and then they sort of went downhill again with Lost World.

*3D Sonic games are very loose on the platforming aspect.

With that being said, if you liked/like SA and SA2, more power to you. I wouldn't call those games "good" even if I liked them, though.

When were the last you played these games? Believe me, the reason I think Sonic Adventure was bad was because of EgoRaptor telling JonTron in a playthrough of Sonic '06 that Sonic Adventure was just like it, I didn't believe either of them when they said it was so I went back and replayed it. I was surprised at how bad it actually was. And I didn't make it through Croc 1 or 2, only got like half-way.

I much prefer playing the Sonic Adventure levels than anything in SA2 and Unleashed.

aka I like playing a Sonic game than I do Corridors: The Game.
