It's been a long time since I actually played.
That is lame.
Honestly? It's one of the better chapters, and I enjoyed it. Actual indoor castle maps are scarce in Awakening, and for once it reminds you to not over-extend. It feels more like Fire Emblem than most of Awakening does.

I mean, I am pretty sure the Rescue staff you get from Donnel's recruitment chapter is meant to be used on Maribelle's chapter. From that moment, the player is supposed to know about the merits of Rescue.

Use Rescue to delay Severa as needed. You need only one pair and a healer to go down the right passage. Everyone else should SLOW PUSH the central main route. Don't allow over-exposure. Watch for indirect attacks on the side. You can use this to your advantage to attack over the walls to help the Severa escort team. You can't. Severa is only recruited when she talks to an NPC on the map, which causes reinforcements to emerge from the stairs (to no surprise, as that's what they generally exist for).
Ah, right...you can use rescue on allied units, not only ones you control... Well i better get another staffuser then and pack their inventory full of rescue staves... I only got Maribelle and Cordelia as Staff-users so far, lissa just isn't leveled enough to be useful. But i can't do that chapter atm anyway, as i just reclassed my Linfan to thief for that lock-pick and + 1 movement (She inherited Galeforce and the like from the start, anyway), so I'd rather have her back to a "better" class before i attempt it again. I wonder if my units are strong enough to win Bloodlines 2 yet...

Haven't used rescue once yet, but thats what happens if there is 3 Galeforce-users + a nigh unkillable Hero-class (my Avatar atm until i get that Dread Scroll) on your team...

Really, I only used Rescue once on that chapter, and it wasn't on Severa. I used it on a mounted pairing to get a head-start.

Rescue is the only offensive staff in the game. Especially in the hands of a Falcon Knight, who can swoop to the other side of the map and pull over a strong unit. If you have a lot of melee units, you should use it for that purpose.

I just was watching more Robin stuff on 3DS and I was thinking to myself "I wish Robin's cloak had Cloth/Clothing physics." Then I remembered the Robin reveal trailer and watched again. The Wii U Robin has Clothing physics <3

I dont know why but Clothing physics always make me happy.

Oh boy, this escalated quickly...

On another note, is it just me or is the Severa paraloguel the hardest of all of them (if you don't count saving all villagers in Geromes that is)? These Guards with their forged weapons oneshot my 3-times-class-changed offtank, there is seemingly endless reinforcements flooding in every single round, and Severa charges in like a moron so a big part of the strategy you could employ is royally ****ed because you have to rush alongside her... GOD.
For me the hardest child paralogue was Yarne's, i always go for all the loot, so i took on both armies. I suppose it's simple and quick but if you're not prepared you can get teared apart at the very beginning.

For Grinding, I would always just put in one of my Robin-bred super soldiers and let him/her go to town on everyone.

I miss conservative EXP... :(

Rescue is stupidly broken. Fire Emblem, being a turn based strategy game reliant on having proper positioning, is made much easier by Rescue, which allows you to manipulate your positioning. In past games, Rescue was a very rare item that reserved for special turn cutting and game changing decisions. Now that the staff is spammable, you can use it to send in your units to do any kind of risky strategy and simply use Rescue to clean up the risk, earning massive exp in the process. Consider that you have at least 2 competent staff bots right from the start and the staff is buyable after Chapter 13 (you get two of them before then), and you get the drill. It says something when Apotheosis is less "challenging map that requires strategy" and more "kill something, use Rescue Staff, repeat."

It also takes much of the pain out of escort or recruitment missions by letting you corral the VIPs into a defensible position, surrounded by your strongest units, rather than splitting your army to protect them individually.

Considering that everyone who has access to Dark Flier also has access to Falcon Knight, it gets very easy to combine Galeforce with Rescue Staffs.

In short, most broken item ever.

Totally agree with you on Rescue being overpowered. That said, I can't say I'd change it too much as it was incredibly handy for leveling up my priests, clerics, troubadours and the like. :p

Spamming Rescue in the Harvest Scramble is easily the most broken thing I did to level up Lissa.

That and it eased me grinding her supports to marry Ricken.

The only acceptable answer is a gender-specific skill.

So really, Axefaire and Counter are the only real answers. And Counter is only for trolling StreetPass.

(The answer is Axefaire.)
Or, if you're lazy and know you won't use any male-specific skill, just pass Veteran. At least that'll speed things up a little.

I went to like this post and Smashboards asked me if I was sure I wanted to like it... the board is getting sentient!!!
Is that not normal? It always asks me that.

You have to admit his supports with :4robinf: are kinda sweet. This Sigma lookalike falls for a tactician. That and the mere concept of it is hilarious, at least to me.
Hilarious in that SankaRea / I love a zombie sort of way?

Remember that it was literally like some random Risen mook that just magically appeared next to Chrom and attacked him when Lucina appeared. It wasn't really a monumental occasion and it could have happened anywhere.
Makes you wonder why they only ever tried a teleporting assassin that one time.

Step 1) Choose Ike:4myfriends:
Step 2) Forward Smash:4myfriends:
Step 3) Hope for the best:4myfriends:
This is how I won the Brawl release tournament I went to. Plus, we had to use the awful Wii-Mote controls, so his simple attack pattern worked wonders.

If Manakete Robin was a thing...

I would still keep Robin as a Tactician/Grandmaster because it feels weird to permanently stay in any other class. :ohwell:
Plus, you know, class changing just puts heads on default bodies unless it's a Master class of your default (and even then sometimes not). So I REALLY wouldn't want to see male Robin or male Morgan with Tiki or Nowi's Manakete body.

Honestly, I've wondered this for a while now. Wasn't sure if you were being a hipster or something. :b

Go into your browsing preferences. Scroll down until you get to Post Background. Play with that.
I literally had no idea they implemented such an option. I'm no hipster. :4robinf:

Welp, it should be back to Lucina now.

Hilarious in that SankaRea / I love a zombie sort of way?
No idea what you're talking about.

S/o to all the people who selected different mains for 3DS and Wii U.

Unless you're actually using using a different main depending on the version :surprised:

I wish. For the Robin threads, credit goes to @ LIQUID12A LIQUID12A , as for my signature and Shulk thread stuff, credit goes to @jaeohjae. I just throw out the info and then these sorcerers help me out.

I'm sure those that have been maining the same character for awhile are thrilled that they can have so many icons for their character :p

...Oh my.

Not only did some people believe that Roy and Lyn had a better chance than Robin of getting in, but that it was more ideal for Robin to be an AT.

I just...Wow, I mean, I gotta say that's a huge waste of potential. Imagine if we actually went through with that, and we were left with Marth, Ike, and Roy as the FE representatives?

I understand that there are people who legitimately like Roy, but a magic-wielding, black robed, brilliant tactician will easily one-shot "ordinary swordsmen" any day of the week in terms of uniqueness.:4robinf:
Exactly... especially since you're able to use customizations to makeep both Marth and Lucina play like Roy.
I find it rather ironic how a lot of people complain at Gamestop's business practices, yet here at México, Gamestop's prices would be considered cheap. Economy i guess .
I have never had a bad experience with Gamestop. At least the ones that I've been to have been extremely reliable. I wish that I could say the same for Best Buy and Walmart...

I prefer diversity over consistency in my character selection.

And for once, I'm maining more than 2 females in a fighting game. That's a milestone for me.

It can also indicate loyalty to a main. You know, like those people who list their "mains" and it's like half the cast.

As for myself, I like having two Robins because I'm just that serious about playing Robin.:4robinf::4robinf::4robinf::4robinf::4robinf::4robinf::4robinf:

True, and although loyalty is good, I prefer to switch things up a bit.

Unless, of course, Mewtwo were in all Smash games after Melee. Then my loyalty would be in full force.

Hell, I never had a single consistent main in any fighting game with the exception of Doctor Doom in UMVC3.

I can only main a character so many times...which is why I carry my secondaries! :4robinm:

But really, I just stick to my favorite franchises. Though, I don't use Ness...it's because I can't :(

Well, for once I'm deviating from my favorite franchises in Pokemon and Metroid for mains because Fire Emblem has caused me to do a 180. Even I'm surprised. I thought that Greninja would end up being my only true main.

Look how wrong I am.

Secondaries.:051:
are overrated.

I'm deviating from Star Fox for the first time. I still have Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda (always Ganondorf), and Mario (always Bowser) though. And well, Xenoblade now :4shulk:

Walhart's a Risen by the time you recruit him. Risen are zombies. Sankarea is a romantic comedy manga about a girl turning into a zombie.

I may actually use different mains. The controls are very different, after all. But that's also why I haven't listed any yet, because... they aren't mains until I actually use them at least once.

I'm not sure who my main will be between Robin and Dedede since, you know, I haven't played the game yet, but I will main one of them and keep the other as a secondary.
Robin just looks too fun and interesting to pass up while also "representing" something I find significant.
And Dedede is my Brawl secondary and one of my favorite fictional characters of all time.

There's also several other character I'd like to try out to see how I feel about them. Perhaps make some of them "pocket" characters, but those two I'd like to be my go-t(w)o unless it turns out I really end up hate playing as them

So... Am I the only one who was under the impression that "main" implied only one character? :4dedede:

are overrated.
are completely necessary if you want to do well competitively unless you main Meta Knight in Brawl

YA REEEELY FEEEELING IT MUHNAHDOUGH BOOOOOOOOOOOOI

Nope. But plenty of people do believe that any character you use actively is considered a main.
So logically, only :4lucina: :4robinf: and :4samus: would be my mains out of active use.

Heh.

Oh, right.

Awkward. I suppose it fits.

But I don't compete, so still invalid :troll:

I'll see. I've been narrowing it down more and more.

Potential Mains: Link, Duck Hunt, Robin
Potential Secondary: King Dedede, Charizard, Ike

I have pretty clear-cut expectations for who I'll main and who I have as back-up. I know I won't really like rush-down types, for example.

If Smash 4 will be the same as Brawl I won't have a proper main and play a lot of different characters whenever the mood strikes me.
Variety is the spice of life after all.
