I think that one of his specials will be to regain the tome unless he has a different up special for when he runs out. Otherwise he's going to be like the controlled IC when the other one falls..

His Nosferatu throw seemed to be giving him health when he would bash the opposing character, I assume its something exclusive to the tome as Nosferatu heals you in FE.

tl;dr, Robin is Platinum.

So you folks better learn the ropes on how to adapt to the tools provided for you, because you'll hardly have control what you'll get next.

inb4 Tharja assist trophy (or normal trophy) that only assists Robin
Honestly, the fact that we've got ALL THREE main Awakening characters already represented honestly makes me believe Tharja might be an AT.

Or perhaps they'll just use Ephraim and Sigurd instead to represent other past FE games. Either way works for me.

For Nosferatu, it's clear that Robin is recovering if you pay attention to the effects. That's what I believe at least. And of course, that would make sense since it IS Nosferatu.
Yeah I was rewatching the trailer more closely and I noticed that there was the recovery 'glow' around Robin when using the move! Having a move that has a vampiric effect and draining an enemy's hp to replenish your own sounds awesome.

EDIT: Also, I don't think Nosferatu is a grab/pummel. Palutena isn't facing him like a character normally does when you grab them.

So is the more powerful sword activated whenever he runs out of uses on one of his tomes?
Is there a way to regain your uses?
Will the Levin sword ever be deactivated when you use it?

This... this reveal was awesome. I'm still super hyped!

Friends told me that supporting Robin was a fools game... it turns out they were spectacularly wrong.

Robin looks like they're going to be fun as anything. Excited to see what customisable moves they'll give them too.

I feel ashamed that I never showed my face in thread before today. I always wanted Robin, but honestly gave up on him really early on because I was so certain that IF we got any FE:A character were to show up they would take the expected route and throw in the blue haired swordsman with MAYBE Robin showing up in his FS or as an IC type duo.

Guess I was pretty much as wrong as possible haha, and I'm damn glad I was.

As for getting the tomes back, maybe you just have to charge any special for like 2 seconds or something

I wonder if Nosferatu is his holding grab attack. (or whatever you call it)
Don't worry I don't know all this fire emblem lingo either ;)

It looks like he has a sort of telekinetic grab kinda like mewtwo. ( which would make sense since both his hands are occupied [Never stopped link though ]) So I'm figuring He'll pick up and hold items this way too.

I wanted some kind of "invisible ties" final smash and basicly got what I wanted. I think it's awesome and adds some more FE: Awakening gameplay representation with the team-up.

So, btw, know the theory about how Sakurai might've changed trailers?

I've checked the dates. Tomorrow is the anniversary of Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Embled for DS, Wednesday is the anniversary of Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword in Europe, and today is the anniversary of F-Zero X.

There is no way the trailer was "replaced" at the last minute. Sakurai just trolled everyone, including the leaker, and the leaker (who probably doesn't have access to any more information anyway because the idiot probably got himself fired) fell for it like the rest of us did.

There is still the question of Sakurai's statement about the roster being defined from the start. If we take it at face value, Sakurai never once planned to make Chrom playable. I mean, its possible he had planned Chrom at first, but I'm not so sure.

The day before Robin's confirmation, I said that one of the reasons why I wanted her in was because I wanted to see how her hair looked in-game, and it did not disappoint. I love the hair textures in this game so far, and Robin's is great to look at.

...also, I never realized this when I played Fire Emblem Awakening, but I have to say this: Robin, um, looks quite beautiful in this game. *blushes*

Yeah, from the sounds of the video, he has his Levin Sword for when he runs out of tomes..

Okay, I'm starting to piece something together in my head which sounds plausible..

The specials work like I just mentioned in my other post. Up B uses Wind tomes, Neutral B uses Lightning tomes, Side B uses Fire tomes, Down B uses Dark tomes. Each has a limited amount of charges.

After using up one of your set of tomes, you'll pull out the Levin sword and that Special move will be replaced with a Levin Sword special. So, say for instance you use up all of your Wind Tomes. You'll take out the Levin Sword and your Up B will become a Dolphin Slash type move. If you use up ALL of your tomes(wind/lightning/dark/fire), all of your specials will be Levin Sword attacks and you'll drop the grimiore like Robin does in the trailer.

EDIT: Your tomes would probably be restored upon dying/spawning if this was the case.

The ironic thing about this trailer to me is how I always paired Chrom up with Robin, destroying everyone with dual supports :p
You spelt "iconic" wrong. They were meant to be together from the moment you turned the game on. :)

Edit - OMG THANK YOU BASED @ Warchamp7 Warchamp7 for including both genders of Robin. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

It references the tag team mechanics of Awakening, so I approve. But yeah, Grima is a huge waste.

Interested in hearing thoughts regarding Robin's design and seeing any pics for palette swaps/costumes you have to share after making them.

Although I'm not sure if they dug super deep into the game to worry about some details, seeing Robin use Nosferatu makes me curious to see if we'll get something like a Sorcerer outfit from FE:A. As for other alts, we could see other classes as options as well.

Feel free to discuss and share thoughts as well as color schemes!

These are all really good ideas and possibilities. Especially since it means Robin could still recover after his wind tomes are used up.

EDIT: that could mean you could CHOOSE to sacrifice your tome ( it looks like its manually discarded in the trailer since theres no move used before it ) in order to gain access to all the Levin Sword specials. This could be a very interesting Gameplay mechanic. Esp if Down special is to regenerate tomes and the dark tomes are saved for grabs and pummels.

It is undeniably epic and way better than any Grima idea.

Edit - In my opinion of course.

Remember when people said Ike would be cut, Chrom would be the FEA rep and we would have only two FE reps as usual?

...Yeah

I personally loved it. After playing Fire Emblem: Awakening and enjoying the relationship Robin and Chrom had, this feels more fitting. Plus, it reminds me of the Pair-Up feature and Dual Strikes, just y'know...x9001 :)

Eh, in Fire Emblem, all ships are canon. Unless they're gay. Or you're trying to pair side characters.

Indeed, but those individuals were incompetent in regards to speculation, let us not pretend as though that was EVERYONE's perspective.

Gay pairings are canon. In my heart.
Yeah, canon a lot of the time is in the eyes of the beholder.. It's just called "Fanon". That said, I've pretty much taken the stance that as long as nothing conflicts, one can believe whatever they want to believe when it comes to the work.

So, here's my reactions:

Isaac would play completely differently, especially if they make him fight with earth Psynergy. Earth magic doesn't even exist in Fire Emblem.
Your reactions are brilliant, and I know them... I know them well, because I was basically doing the exact same thing except didn't record it (Admittedly my coherency would have been no where near as good as yours was). Nice to hear that I wasn't the only one though.

Also I agree, if Isaac was added I think he has enough move pool potential to play differently, especially with the Earth psyenergy.

Though then I'd be have the hardest choice of all who do I main? I already decided that I'd have to main Robin, but if Isaac is added, only an intense battle can decide this. A battle that I will gladly have to go through if the time comes.

Been calling this since before E3 2013 so aaaaa it's nice to have confirmation. No need to convince people anymore. And as a fantastic bonus Gematsu is DEAD. What a great reveal.

Canon is kind of a weird thing to care about, tbh. It is just freaking fiction.
