Hello.

I recently tried out Robin some and really enjoy what he can do, so I have played some matches in For Glory and such, both winning and losing horribly against faster characters and others that can spam projectiles.

Still enjoying it. Otherwise I play Palutena and Ike, and I'm pretty unsure why I end up liking slow characters more than fast ones, and I don't really have a top-tier main either.

I have checked the threads here and learned quite a lot and I'm still training, and still trying to figure out exactly how Robin works.

Like... When I do 'fair' I sometimes get the Levin Sword out, and sometimes not, even though I haven't used all the charges. I'm also horrible at landing hits with the sword, and I can't land a combo either, nor am I fast enough to get to someone when they get stuck in an Arcfire.

Oh, and sometimes I forget if I charged up to a Thoron or not, and forget to check the sparkle around the book.

Finished the second chapter of codename OZ and it was about s easy as the first chapter

Doing your aerial as a smash input will always use the Levin Sword if you have uses of it left. But if your last sword swing was a Levin swing, aerials will use the Levin Sword regardless of if you do a smash input or a tilt input.

occasionally I forget I have Thoron charged up too

When the Levin Sword comes out has nothing to do with a charge of any kind. If you have the bronze sword out, you do a midair smash attack input to pull out the Levin Sword and you put the Levin Sword away when you do a bronze sword only attack like nair or dash attack.

Let me give you a run down of the last couple of days:

A couple of pages of Gurren Lagann

A couple of pages of Ace Attorney and it's spinoffs...again...

Oh, and we had a Jazz-a-thon with a bunch of users, all of whom are named Jazz.


Now: Uncertain, but we'll find SOMETHING.

Oh, and we have Erris here giving Robin a whirl, so if you have any advice to give him, that would be great.

Congratulations on 1400 pages! :D

I should use the Wii-U cstick for smashes more often, but It's just too uncomfortable. :/ I'll take bronze sword aerials over that.

When playing Robin, I find that it helps to think less 'combos' and more 'strategy.' Robin does possess some handy combo tools though, namely Arcfire, Arcthunder, and D-throw. Typically these tools will only guarantee a single follow up though, so you should be thinking more about creating openings to land said tools. Robin is a strategist after all :4robinm::4robinf:

I guess down-throw into something? I did read Avokha00's post though and I should probably think more like that.

Otherwise I have a bit of a problem 'setting things up' for me. Not fast enough to reach the Arcfire, or the Arcthunder, and the down-throw starts to work at a little bit higher percentages (depending on what opponent) but I still got problem to connect things to an actual combo. It becomes more of a string-combo than true-combo.

Not that I mind. Mind games and combo-strings are fun to play with, to make the opponent believe the usual 'uair' is coming but I stead you wait for an up smash or just a forward smash for them to air dodge and land into.

@ SpiralGalaxies SpiralGalaxies Thank you! I'll stay around for sure, since Robin is growing on me. I always find these characters more interesting and fun compared to the incredibly fast ones like Shiek, C. Falcon and Yoshi, and of course Zero Suit Samus which I have so much problem with despite what character I play (Small rant.)
