EDIT: Also hot damn my FE: Radiant Dawn copy just came in the mail as well today so all I need now is a physical copy of FE7 and I will have all of the U.S released FE games till fates comes out in the U.S .

For the first time in my life, I'm ashamed to be an American.

2016 can't get here fast enough, and even that probably won't do anything.

So much for State's Rights. So much for this democracy. So much for the will of the damn people.

I've had it. I've absolutely had it.

Everything I've ever held dear for whatever reason has been trampled on for these past six years and I can't take it.

And today? Today really doesn't help.

Finding some isolated island in the middle of nowhere and living out my days as a hermit seem better and better.

Why the hell do we have this constitution and all of these amendments (good and bad) if everything just gets handed down unilaterally by the damn Supreme Court? Let's just trash the very core of our government. Someone once said that: one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress! Clearly 9 is a Supreme Court. That doesn't give a **** about its country's constitution.

This isn't about gay marriage anymore. It's about precedent. And keeping what makes this country great intact. And it just isn't happening.

God help me because no one else is.

To be perfectly blunt, the concept of States Rights should have been done away with the minute we perfected flight travel and became a nation that could be traveled across in less than a day.

And besides, no amount of states rights should take precedent over the 14th Amendment of all things.

The Judicial Branch's job is to interpret laws. They interpreted a law. They are literally the final say in the legal process. Blame the Consitution for that.

They probably wanted everyone to be Bi. So you could have as many or as a few same-sex couplings as you wanted. That's as inconsiderate and bigoted as having everyone being straight.

State's Rights was to maintain the original viewpoint of a small government. One who's purpose was mainly to provide a common defense, and deal with foreign governments. Everything else was left to the states to do with as they see fit. I think even with commercial flight, State's Rights should be maintained. It allows people to gravitate towards states that fit their beliefs, regardless of if they approve of the current government majority/policies. Thus keeping people happy and preventing unnecessary secession

As for the 14th Amendment, it shouldn't have even been necessary. Something about "We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal". The same goes for civil rights. It shouldn't have been necessary.

Now, I've vented long enough. And this isn't the Debate Hall, so I'm going slink back into my state of hiding and allow you all to return to your customary activities.

Not that it matters. You've probably all put me on your ignore lists for having a vastly different opinion in a vast amount of different things.

Someone once said that politics, religion and finances are the best three topics of discussion in the world for losing friends.

Hence the reason I try to avoid it 99 times out of 100.

They're complaining about the fact that if you want the male same sex marriage, you HAVE to get Nohr, and if you want the female one, you HAVE to get the Hoshido. Which is a perfectly justifiable complaint. I mean, sure it wouldn't have taken them THAT long to make one of each on both games, but hey, It's their first time treading in this territory, they probably don't want to offend anyone.

There's another reason, but that could be considered spoiler territory, plus it's a pretty old argument, and it's empty directed at one of the characters :L

I'm gonna shut up about my opinion on gay marriage only due to me being from Texas and Christian. This kinda weird a me out and I kinda not a big guy in this situation

I will agree that making everyone bi is extreme. Especially considering this is the first time Fire Emblem will have this option. I consider the three people (your avatar, the one male, and the one female) we have a more realistic scenario.

They're complaining about the fact that if you want the male same sex marriage, you HAVE to get Nohr, and if you want the female one, you HAVE to get the Hoshido. Which is a perfectly justifiable complaint. Perhaps a one male and one female for both sides would have been better but it is the first time we're getting this feature. Belka's description does say Camilla prefers strong women (with Belka as her favorite). So if Nohr needed a same sex female option, make it Camilla.

I've seen the complaints about the characters in question. Mostly about of their personalities and her.

I honestly was surprised that the potential partners for same sex marriage in Fates were not neutral units. It just makes more sense to me that way since the options would always be there regardless of what path you're doing. But oh well, I will take what we have.

This is what I've seen most of, and don't understand it. I mean, I understand that their personality traits are common among gay/bi characters in video games, but it actually makes sense in this one, at least it does for Her. The male in Nohr is a different discussion though

In all honesty, tumblr complain about literally everything and I find my activity over there decreasing tremendously. I understand their argument, however they've always wanted same sex marriage in the Fire Emblem franchise and usually support same sex couples in other video games such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age. But when they do get the option in Fire Emblem Fates, they begin to groan about it. Like what @ Milo AKA Papa said, it's their first time and they don't want to offend anyone. They can't appeal to everyone, and at this point, they're asking for too much.

Only follow fandoms you like and avoid all the constant complaining there and Tumblr is a decent place. Otherwise, you'll only find this.
