I agree, his long absence is starting to turn into an advantage, and a lot of people aren't sure how to deal with him since he's getting rarerNess is fairly decent these days. Mainly because he's used so rarely people don't have much match up experience vs him.
I always feel like I have a huge advantage in match up knowledge. He's not going to win any tourneys. But I'd certainly break him out in tourney vs someone who doesn't play vs Ness.
pls change your avatar back this madness has been going on far too longNess is like Justin Bieber. Just get him off the stage.
I can't believe I'm saying this but "That's a very good idea, cane"We should do different tier lists. First, what does this tier list measure, the characters abilities to be good? What about a tier list for characters difficulty to use, one for new player tiers and experienced players tiers, so on and on.
Sooo in other words, Ness is good if you know how to use him? Or in this case, if you're not burnt out?Assuming we are doing dreamland only, (which I really hope we are - I don't think anyone likes peaches castle or congo, and they don't really do anything besides exacerbate already difficult matchups), ness isn't great, but to put him last I think is too much.
Ness vs falcon, ness vs yoshi (I'd argue for a slight ness advantage on Dreamland for this one), ness vs mario are not unwinnable matchups. Ness edgeguards them all fairly well, and these characters should have just as hard of a time recovering as ness does. Considering how often I was able to recover at zenith (at least a couple times per match when I was far from the stage, if I had to guess), I don't think recovery is a dealbreaker here.
The real problem for ness is kirby, which I think is one of the hardest matchups in the game. Pikachu is also awful but not as tough. But if we are basing a tier list atleast somewhat on tournament results, we should see some DK, Link, Luigi, Jigglypuff players enter in tournament. I can't see how ness can be last when some characters get no representation. Unfortunately we don't have too many tournaments these days. Jigglypuff in particular I suspect would be good on a dreamland only ruleset if more people played her.
I think another issue deals with execution - as a tournament goes on characters like kirby or falcon that have more leeway in combos and approaches become more viable. I can really only play ness for so long before I get burnt out mentally and my hands hurt - my play at the beginning of the tournament was definitely better than in later rounds. Keep in mind I played fox vs cobr_evolution and fox/falcon against battlecow. I wasn't feeling confident with ness and my hands needed a rest after that intense set with fireblaster.
I'd like to see more people play characters low on the list - I find it to be quite fun. Maybe we should do a low-tier tournament?
Absolutely. During the earlier days of melee, fox literally did not win any majors for the longest amount of time until mango started winning with fox. Yet, during all that time fox was constantly placed as 1st in their tier list.but really, like i said, tourney results shouldn't be the determining factor of tier lists.
