Hi everyone! For those of you interested in competitive SSBB you might have already heard about SofB. We first started this podcast in response to hearing the news of MLG dropping Brawl from the Anaheim circuit and have been discussing issues and ideas surrounding the scene ever since. A lot of people thought that this was the nail in the offin for Brawl, but the people who were really passionate about the game decided it was just a wake-up call to start actively trying to grow the scene on a global level. Heres a little tidbit of what we do:

"The State of Brawl is a weekly podcast surrounding key issues in the SSBB community as told by some of the leaders of its scene with special guests from various gaming backgrounds. We hope to maintain a culture of honest discussion and engaging content for the community to join in on and learn from."

You can watch it live here every Wednesday night at 10:30 EST on the Even Matchup Gaming twitch channel.

To stay up to date on the discussion if you're new to the show we also have every episode uploaded to the EMG youtube:

"Lets Talk About Doubles" Episode 7 feat. MVD & Juggleguy + recap from D.Disciple

I made this post not just to help connect people to the project, I'd also love to start discussion for past and future topics as well in this thread. If you have an issue you'd like us to discuss, or something you'd even like to come on the show to talk about, feel free :) this is a community podcast and we are excited to highlight things happening through the Smash scene. Eventually once Smash4 drops we will become The State of Smash and cover both games, as we are also huge fans of the new game coming out soon!

I'm a fan of the program. I think you all touch on important issues and have good production value. You also bring on smart, well-respected players to talk about the issues facing the Brawl community. All of that is working well.

If I were to make a suggestion, I would recommend that you bring on more guests who actually disagree with you guys. I fear that it is starting to become an echo chamber, and I would hate to see an opportunity for a genuine discussion pass the community by. For instance, many people oppose one-stock, but none of them have appeared on the podcast to present that position. Not only would it make the program more interesting, but I think it would better represent the conversations going on in the Brawl community.

Another suggestion would be to use the Smashboards front page more often. At any given moment, Smashboards is estimated to have around 1k people browsing the forums. Lack of content is cited to be a problem in the Brawl community, but what's also a problem is how mediocre the advertising of Brawl content is. Front page coverage is huge because it gives content producers a large audience, which is a huge incentive for new and existing content producers to continue making content. Sadly we only have so many writers, but more are bound to arise in the future.

You should get some more debates going of opposite viewpoints, for advertising, put some content up to advertise this more.

Thanks for the feedback guys! What would you like to see us discussing in future episodes? And by front page posts do you mean news posts for the show? I can ask Alpha Zealot how he feels about letting me post the show on there

Also we just put up ep.7 with Juggleguy and MVD discussing the pros and cons for doubles events

Yeah I mean the News portal. And not just for the show!!! Do it for all things Brawl (even though your show basically recaps all things Brawl).
