If our community grows (that's the only situation in which I could foresee us needing a BR, and it would be AWESOME) We'd be able to renegotiate. It's not like the admins are only roused from their slumber when the stars are right or something; if things change (which WILL take a while) we can change with them.

looks like we'll have to pay people to play, kidnap high profile brawlers, or get by on our competitive credentials alone
just kidding that last one will never work since we don't have competitive credentials, what with top players saying 'lol online is fake' and the world outside california completely lacking n64 tourneys

I'm not saying that I know how to expand our scene. I'm just saying I know that a BR won't do so.
And I do think that there are ways to get the info out there, a section being the easiest and possibly more effective. A slower way to do it is just the old fashioned way: tell a friend. I've brought two people into the online scene seriously, and a bunch more casually; they're working on getting their friends and relatives to join, and on it goes. It's not perfect, but we have a serious advantage: a really ****ing awesome game. As the scene grows, we get more recognition and respect and tourneys. The effects are limited, of course, but I do think improvement is possible.
