The last votes probably mostly came from this sites users, and guests. Some FB votes, and then a few various other sites. More recently I took the poll to Serebii, and a buncha guests that view this site have been voting as well.

And remember, most people who don't know who the **** Shulk is.

K. Rool and Ridley deserve it. They are among the very few All-Star characters that have yet to be playable in Smash.

This is, in essence, a popularity contest- and there's no point to a popularity contest if popularity isn't singularly handled. For all we know from this poll, Mewtwo is the most requested character. But is that actually true? Maybe most people who voted for Megaman also voted for Mewtwo, and most people who voted for K. Rool also voted for Mewtwo. I think there should be a re-poll with a singular vote system. I think that would yield far more interesting results.

The poll isn't for your single most-wanted character, it's for "who you want to see in Smash". What if people want to see more than x amount of characters? What's wrong with people's second choice, this a poll for every choice you want to see. The point of the poll is not to be limiting, it's to see how many people want a certain character, even if it's not their first choice. There's nothing wrong with this kind of poll, the way it's being handled is fine for its goal, to pick whoever you want to see. Yours is also a fine idea, it's the way Sakurai's Brawl poll sort of worked (except IIRC there wasn't a list of choices - you just filled in who you wanted to see), and nothing is stopping you from creating a poll your way, but unlike that poll, this one isn't to give Sakurai or determine the roster, it's just to show who people want, and how ever many they want.

It's not my poll though, so I can't really defend it much past this.

The poll isn't for your single most-wanted character, it's for "who you want to see in Smash". What if people want to see more than x amount of characters? What's wrong with people's second choice, this a poll for every choice you want to see. The point of the poll is not to be limiting, it's to see how many people want a certain character, even if it's not their first choice. There's nothing wrong with this kind of poll, the way it's being handled is fine for its goal, to pick whoever you want to see. Yours is also a fine idea, it's the way Sakurai's Brawl poll sort of worked (except IIRC there wasn't a list of choices - you just filled in who you wanted to see), and nothing is stopping you from creating a poll your way, but unlike that poll, this one isn't to give Sakurai or determine the roster, it's just to show who people want, and how ever many they want.

It's not my poll though, so I can't really defend it much past this.

Yeah, I understand. I'd personally much rather see who most people want (at least on smash boards). I don't know, I might make a poll like this myself at some point in the future.

I'm looking for general popularity of all choices. You want to know what woulld happen with a single vote system? Mewtwo, King K. Rool, Little Mac, and Ridley would get the majority of the votes, and every other character would have few. Does that make those characters unpopular? No. They would just not get voted on because the MORE popular cgaracters would get the votes. This way, we get proper votes. We see just how popular everyone is. Not who is most popular specifically. But even with this poll, you can still see who is most popular. Mewtwo.

I think all the characters are getting exactly the love they deserve. If they deserved more, they'd get more, and vice versa. This is why Shortie's voting options are ideal for such a poll.

First off, I said I would make my own, so you don't need to reaffirm that.

Secondly, just because Mewtwo is the most popular here does NOT prove they the majority of people would want him over someone else. This poll's top voted characters are simply a list of characters that most people wouldn't mind seeing. For all we know, everyone who voted for the bottom 20~ percent also voted Mewtwo, but the top 80~ didnt vote for Mewtwo. Of course this is not necessarily true, but that does not mean this is wrong. The point is: your poll doesn't prove Mewtwo is individually the most popular character. And that's fine, because that's not what your poll is for.

I actually think the results are very interesting and the fact that there are 1300 votes cast on it sheds some pretty good light on the general popularity of most character. However, it can NOT be used to indicate the individual popularity of characters, and I would personally much rather see that. Just my two cents.
