So I did finish Gobi's Valley last night. And I think I have a consensus on Banjo-Kazooie, and that is
I am genuinelly having a good time with this game. The biggest thing for me is how easy it is to pick up and play; I hop in, start a new world, and an hour-hour thirty later, complete the world and move on. Early on, I complained about how sluggish the game felt at the start (and tbf, it really is, I first dropped it at Clanker's Cavern for a reason), but after playing some more and unlocking the abilities, this game flies by fast. This game knows what it wants to be, a collectathon in bite sized worlds and not like the sequel or that one DK game, where they did way too much.
But beyond that, this game looks good for the N64 and it's oozing of charm. Some of the songs are catchy too.
Now is it the best platformer of all time? No. Is it the magnum opus of the N64? Also no.
But it is like one of the 12 games on the N64 that's actually good so no wonder why the Nintendo Millennials ate it up; there was nothing else to play.
