So I did finish Gobi's Valley last night. And I think I have a consensus on Banjo-Kazooie, and that is

I am genuinelly having a good time with this game. The biggest thing for me is how easy it is to pick up and play; I hop in, start a new world, and an hour-hour thirty later, complete the world and move on. Early on, I complained about how sluggish the game felt at the start (and tbf, it really is, I first dropped it at Clanker's Cavern for a reason), but after playing some more and unlocking the abilities, this game flies by fast. This game knows what it wants to be, a collectathon in bite sized worlds and not like the sequel or that one DK game, where they did way too much.

But beyond that, this game looks good for the N64 and it's oozing of charm. Some of the songs are catchy too.

Now is it the best platformer of all time? No. Is it the magnum opus of the N64? Also no.

But it is like one of the 12 games on the N64 that's actually good so no wonder why the Nintendo Millennials ate it up; there was nothing else to play.

On that note, I would enjoy a Banjo Remaster. While I am having a good time, there are a bit of outdated/archaic mechanics. The biggest one is the collision detection, no idea what it is but it can be wonky at times when hitting enemies or trying to grab collectibles and it's really apparent with levels like Clanker's Cavern.

Also yeah the combat is not great either. Attacks are slow and also have the aforemention collision issues. I don't think I ever used the Beak Barrage or Claw Swipe cause they take forever and leave them wide open for attack. Forward Roll is a godsend that said.

Also also, egg shooting kinda sucks with how the camera works. Rear eggs are worthless.

Also also also swimming controls are putrid. N64 games could never get that right aside from like Mario 64.

I’m actually surprised they never gave Banjo a nostalgic mid-2010’s revival. Crash, Spyro, even Bubsy got one.

Yeah, I was already aware of Eliwood, I just didn't really know which game I was playing because the English version of this game is literally just "Fire Emblem."

First international release.
Legend has it that it was marketed by the same dude who decided to call Mother 2 “Earthbound” :4pacman:

Okay but Earthbound is a pretty good name tho
I think it’s better for Mother 1, which was the original plan before they decided to axe that NES port. Mother 1 had more to do with aliens and Giygas as a character than Mother 2.

Yeah I kind of think the original Earthbound release would be even more of a flop if it was called "Mother 2" in the US.

Or it would sell to the wrong audience.
That’s valid. I don’t even know why they named it tha-

Or even if it was just called "Mother", because I don't really think anyone would get the John Lennon reference.

JOHN LEMONS FROM THE BEATLES?
True, would be better for the first one.

And yeah it's a 100% certified Don Lemon reference

on a date with Pauline based on what the shippers have told me
Why do Luigi looks like his design from that one fan animation where he's accidentally thrown to the Sun, merging with it and turning it green, and causing a zombie apocalypse, but instead it turns everyone into Luigi?

Media where two old men can't settle their petty squabble so they get 12 year old children involved, resulting in one getting sealed away for a good while. Also involves triangles and making deals by touching it, with the main villian getting tricked, turned into stone, and gets wiped from history whilst trapped in a blue hell that he can't escape.

Close but I think you’re stretching what the King and Ganondorf had as a “petty squabble” :thedorf:
