If it really does make this much:

You can bet Nintendo will get money hunger and be looking at every IP they own.

Get ready for the Chibi Robo Movie in 2050!

Even a Kirby movie, which I think would do alright, would definitely be more niche.

I think the only other Nintendo franchises that are guaranteed blockbusters are DK and Zelda. Everything ranges from decent success to absolute flop.
I think Kirby is a slam dunk no question.

Massively popular franchise, A ton of lore and games to pull from. Beautiful animation already.

Parents will see a cute pink puffball goes on a crazy adventure and go “that looks like a great movie to take my kids to”

Then regret that decision when Kirby fights the most Eldritch horror **** imaginable, scarring those kids.

I would bet 500-700 million on a like 200 million budget if not lower.

A planet robobot movie would go hard though. A large scaled star dream remix would be amazing to hear.

Watch the parents complain if Zero or Zero Two, who are eyeballs crying blood, make it into the movie.

It’s looking to reach a billion by the end of the month and still isn’t even out in Japan. By the end of the year, as crazy as it sounds, I don’t think it’s Impossible.

Holy ****. That would mean surpassing Avatar 1 & 2!

But I really doubt that'll be the case anyway...

Hey don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Pedro Pascal Meta Knight and John Mulaney Dedede on the big screen. I'm just not convinced it'd do huge numbers.

Whose more recognizable, a bunch of blue people who look the same and had barely any development in the first film

Or

The Super Mario Brothers.

I think the answer is obvious and I hope it’s beats it. Then maybe critics will respect all genres of film better.

Iirc I think this also includes home release profits

Though that doesn't really matter too much as the movie is already a mega money maker

True.

Hope this is the case. If any movie deserves to be highest-grossing film it'd be this.

Meta Knight: This is the way Kirby

Kirby: POYO.

But I agree, it’s likely not hitting a billion but I think if it gets in that 700 million range or a little under, that’s pretty solid.

Likely, but regardless that would still best avatars.

As I said, by the end of year, considering the dvd is sold out almost everywhere and number one in sales, 3 billion isn’t that crazy of a number.

If I had to take a garner, here's movies I think would succeed:
  1. Mario
  2. Zelda (more than likely OoT based)
  3. Pokemon
  4. Kirby (until Christian moms get a hold of the surprise villian)
What I'd think has potential to succeed:
  1. Metroid (Automatic flop if Illumination handles it)
  2. Splatoon (series has to marinate for the west but Japan would go cukoo caca)
  3. Punch Out (80s nostalgia is in+Legit just sell it as animated Rocky)
  4. Fire Emblem (just make it appeal to weebs, it'll do well)
What I think is better off as a show:
  1. Animal Crossing (slice of life series)
  2. Star Fox (Can work as a movie but the series has lost all relevancy since the Gamecube days, needs a lot of prep first)
Flops:
Everything else

I don’t know if they fully own it, but as a sort of niche property, dillions rolling western could work for a cartoon if they did right.

I think younger audiences could get into a western show. There’s quite a few aimed at that audience already. I think smaller scale games could also work as a show if done right.

Also worth remember that Mario is the only major family movie in theaters right now until May 26 when The Little Mermaid drops (but I scream in laughter at the idea of it being a threat to Mario)

The anti “woke” and anti live action remake crowd are going to destroy that movies sales tbh.

Which sucks for the actors, but Disney need to learn to stop rushing out these products.

The way I see it, the Little Mermaid Remake is gonna go the way the Princess and The Frog went: Getting hard carried by the black community.

At the least, the competition is an actual good movie this time and not the ****ing Squeakuel, I will never forgive the caucasian species for allowing this

Maybe it’s redundant, but Micheal B Jordon’s anime inspired punch out would go hard.

If he’s up for it, Morgan Freeman doc Lois would be fun.

I dunno about that, Lion King 2019 outsold Frozen and it's sequel, no? The anti woke crowd also are entirely ****ing harmless for movie sales seeing how they're flipflopping on Mario being woke or not alongside Black Panther being the best selling solo MCU movie other than No Way Home, next best selling solo movies are Civil War which has all the ****in Avengers alongside Spiderman and after that, it's Captain Marvel.

Also fun fact, Lion King 2019 has a very similar RT score to the Mario movie, both critic score and audience scores

Agree or disagree? My opinion regarding potential future Nintendo adaptations.

Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby = Movies
Metroid, StarFox, Splatoon, Animal Crossing = Western animated shows
Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, ARMS, EarthBound, Super Smash Bros. = Animes

Then again given Smash's popularity, I can see it potentially as a western cartoon as well. I think a western cartoon/anime is the best approach to that if we ever get an animated adaptation.

Only one that would arguably work for live-action is Metroid but even then I'd prefer that being animated notably as a show from the creator of Samurai Jack.

I think animation is the best approach for Nintendo franchises.

Little Mermaid isn't even the next big family movie release. Or even second.
Guardians 3 and Fast X both come before it.

And it doesn't get more family than Fast and the Furious

I mean if y'all actually think The Little Mermaid is gonna flop, well... 😶
Oh it'll do pretty well, Aladdin did really good in a May that was packed with big movies including Endgame.
It shouldn't be too different for Little Mermaid but it's also followed by a fairly stacked June too.

Aladdin also had the benefit that it was a movie for the Middle East first and foremost. Didn't bother trying to compete with the American market (even though both are Disney).

My distaste for Disney remakes fighting my desire to see another black Disney movie succeed

It looks lame, has no color, and CGI is wack, but...
