Ok but the switch is more powerful than the Wii U. How could a Wii U game be too technically demanding for the switch?
XCX had extra downloads to help with load times and the like iirc and that bumped the file size up to 30gb which is almost the entirety of the Switch's regular memory space and would necessitate more expensive cartridges for the physical game. It's a matter of compressing it down well enough to even fit on the system and then making sure it still at least runs as well as the original did.

Ports and remasters are never as simple as "It's on a stronger system so it runs better" as shown time and again by the likes of Lollipop Chainsaw. You still gotta put the work in otherwise you end up with a complete mess that pisses everyone off. And X is a huge game to go over so it's also just a lot of work and money being spent.

The Rex stuff is funny cause like

On one hand, yeah it defo comes off as "Hey what"

But on the other hand, I can hear the "God I wish that were me" kinda people from my window.

i just realized i never got to post my 10 year Smashboards retrospective back in july due to work and other stuff

idk if i should even as there are some... bittersweet memories with some people i'm no longer close to. they were the first friends I made here in fact... and now they're not.

I'm feeling the same thing, actually. the investor meeting is Nov. 5 i believe, and i imagine they wanna also drop big heavy hitters the fans have been clamoring for

since anything goes this "Twitter direct", I'm calling them announcing F-Zero GX HD and/or GC NSO with cloud streaming sometime today. bookmark this post.
That’s also fair, I forgot that’s soon. The switch was also announced like a week before one.

So I’d say that makes it likelier that they dropped this now because the switch 2 is around the corner and some of these ports and newer games might stand out more on the new console.

Tora and his family is typical Japan anime humour, not bad writing.
I'll be real I have no horse in this race as I will never spend a penny on Xenoblade ever again due to how badly I've been burned by the games and how much I've been given death threats or been stalked but "typical Japan anime humour" is a weird thing to say. Like, people in Japan aren't gonna slap their knees and smile when you joke about how you're sexually attracted to a child. Mind you, it's not a Japan exclusive thing either with how much pigtails, schoolgirls and teenagers get sexualized in western culture either. People are allowed to find these things uncomfortable, it's not 'hilariously bad' to not vibe with this

Wait. Lollipop Chainsaw got a remaster? And it was bad?

It came out like a month ago and everything was just godawful from how it was handled iirc, a lot less stylized, none of the creators having worked on it, the works. Real embarassing when Suda's been working on a much better looking remaster of Shadows of the Damned

Well… I’m gonna buy it anyway so it’s not stuck on my 360.

I’ll take an inferior remaster on modern platforms over willingly using my 360. Maybe if it was one of the backwards compatible games.

I'm not gonna tell you not to do that but I think it's worth noting that Repop is 45 bucks while Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered is gonna launch for 25 bucks in 2 days

When will Bamco remake the Cross games?
I really wish to see a collection for Switch with WonderSwan's Namco Super Wars, Namco X Capcom, the two Project X Zone games, and maybe Compile Heart's Cross Edge (the one with the Darkstalkers.

And now I have Armaggedon amd suddenly combat in this game is just. Completely invalid
Getting Theurgy does make it a bit of a hassle again but I don't think it's a coincidence that by the time you get it, you have access to Life Aid and that the ultimate Persona in 3 starts with Victory Cry, which fully heals after all fights lol

Finding episodes of Jackie Chan Adventures is hard...

There's only a few episodes uploaded to YouTube, and not all of them even feature my boy Valmont, who I'm definitely not hyperfixating on I swear.

I just wanna see the greedy crime boss be his callous and cowardly but pitifully cute self.

Reason #500 M.E.R.V. is my new thing: Valmont and Emma Russell would get along nicely. They've both been screwed over by big evil golden dragons.

Mostly talking about how Armaggedon always one-shots the reaper and how that grants a **** ton of EXP, almost my entire party is extremely overleveled now and I don't really see a reason to engage with normal battles anymore. I didn't find 4 and 5 particularly difficult either but at least I couldn't skip 10 levels from one shotting three enemies.

That being said my strat for endgame P5 was "Hassou Tobi go brrr" so maybe I'm playing the wrong series if I'm looking for a challenge

I have now officially finished my PLA living/form/gender Dex....

....and I'm still 1500~ or so points off from hitting rank 10. Cyrus' ancestor is stingy.

Oh yeah no it's super busted, I'm just thinking of how abusable it seemed to be in the OG where you could use it as long as you had Satan and Helel in the party

Base P5 you could just wait for flu season and farm the reaper that way because it'd kill itself from despair. Royal changed this so you actually have to engage with it but base P5 was a trip with the reaper farming.

God maybe it's just from me watching Disney vs Non-Disney Villains and getting in a mood for baddies, but Valmont has just COMPLETELY stuck in my mind. Usually I don't tend to really 'stick' to villains - Lila Rossi and the Deadly Six being the exceptions - as opposed to other characters like silly goofy girls, but something about Valmont REALLY drew me in.

Is it the accent? Maybe.
Is it the entertaining greed? Perhaps.
Is it him being a great antagonistic force towards Jackie and co? Possibly.
Is it him becoming absolutely pitiable in the later seasons, turning from a vicious crime boss into a completely pathetic and adorable loser who I just wanna hug? ...It's probably that. And also the Riya shipping.

Feedback on this would be appreciated btw

I know basically nothing about game design but I'd say you did pretty good. Love the aesthetic and sound design, deliciously retro!

-Art style is fun so far. The cat is amusingly edgy, and the enemies are doofy which I enjoy.

-The one-tone blood red sky doesn't feel great on the eyes. Even just a gradient could add some more color. If I may, I'd suggest violet, which is adjacent to red on the color wheel and could add some much needed variation.

-Wall jumping looks quick and fun.

-I like the boost you get when you jump on an enemy, that could make for some fun platforming. I feel like a similar effect could be applied for when the cat attacks an enemy on the ground, maybe they surge forward and if they keep hitting baddies they can keep that flow going. Just an idea.

Overall good **** so far, you're off to a rad start. Can't wait to see more 👍

Which would you prefer as a boss to represent the "Post-Generations" era of Sonic Games in a hypothetical expansion to Sonic's Campaign?
  • The Deadly Six from Sonic Lost World
  • The Hard Boiled Heavies from Sonic Mania
  • a Titan from Sonic Frontiers
  • or the Black Dragon from Sonic Superstars

Unironically, Infinite

Other than that, one of the titans I feel fits the best, I'd personally go with Giganto or Supreme

Minor Pokemon gen 10 leaks

A leaked document for Pokemon Worlds 2026 mentions something about "Project Mistral

A mistral is a type of wind, which lends credence to the theory that the games will be called Pokemon Wind and Wave

It's been really fun looking at Pokémon leaks the past couple of weeks but with hearing 30th anniversary plans being included, I think it's time I start blocking words on Twitter.

I have a limit on leaks.

I mean

What do you think is my answer?

I think the best option would be to have the Heavies as a Classic Sonic boss and the Deadly Six as a Modern Sonic boss

Trying to avoid spoilers for up to 2 years is definitely gonna be tough. Beta stuff and vague details about future projects is cool but I don’t wanna see anything that would blow the lid on the game(s) just yet.
