Oh my gosh I spent so long thinking the same thing.

Anyway yes, Flabebe and its line is a dang good introduction to the Fairy type. Part of why I like it so much is cuz I'm fond of flowers and floral aesthetics. It's part of why Grass is one of my favorite types.

And my first Flabebe was named after Caitlin Cooke, and I'm pretty sure it was the very rare white one, so yes I'm biased.

I tried Clover not long ago, so far yeah most of the jokes suck but I do like the nonoffensive stuff in the game. I haven't even tried the second gym yet, though, so I'm not very far into it.

There's also some...gross stuff...in the game, though, and I don't really like any of it either, besides the design of one fakemon but I wish it wasn't...what it was... It just somehow looks cool minus the gross thing it's based on (you could assume it's something else if it had a clean name).

Honestly, Vinemon seems much better for funny and cool fakemon, especially since Clover seems incredibly hard as well (I mean, I like challenge, but combined with the offensive + gross "humor" and me being used to opponents not having overpowered EV-trained Pokémon you may need to grind a bunch to beat...I'm not sure how much I'll like the later game xD).

Really sucks since it could be an excellent hack if they had just took out all the offensive stuff and left in the good memes/jokes and other cool, original fakemon, replacing all the bad ones (for some of them, they could even keep the general designs, just make them nonoffensive. The Fire starter, for example; it's very cute, but then you notice its name, what it is, and what it's wearing on its head...just change its name and headwear (+ its evolutions) and it'd be good to go).

It’s been a few years since I played it, but from what I remember it was mostly edgey jokes, and I don’t think they truly mean most of what the dialog lines are in that game.

There’s definitely a lot of passion put into the game. World design stands out while also staying familiar to Kanto. The OST is really good for no reason, battles are challenging but I never had to ev train. There’s also some pretty funny jokes and references.

Like how the trainer tips signs have some pretty great commentary on how pointless they are and some of the mechanics like comp play. Or the random reference fights like the double battle with Walter white and Jessie.

Remove a few of the fakemon, touch up a few of the jokes, especially when they are outdated like how they have Kanye as a gym leader. With some weird meme about him having Ebola. You had the perfect chance to modernize that if you really wanted to keep that in, but they didn’t.

They make use of the upgraded fire red engine in interesting ways as well. Like how you can trigger different endings/story dialogs, based on your choices.

Like how skipping Brock as the first gym, leads you to come back letter and his team power scales to current level cap and he has dialog talking about how pissed he is that you did that.

Or how using cheats will give you the bad ending where you get to the league and get arrested, thrown in jail permanently unless you delete the save.

Overall clover has its moments and if they dialed back the “humor of 4chan” a bit more, it would probably rank amongst one of the best designed hacks.

At least we still have Sage, which is also made by 4chan but meant to be the anti thesis to clover. A more traditional and fun adventure through a new region with new fake mon.

Which is slow with development but their discord still posts updates. I believe they are closing in on finishing content up to the 8th gym currently. So the game may be finished before we know it.

Pokémon just has too many good options because they never really stay from starters/main marketable pokemon of that gen.
Still it had some of the bigger heavy hitters in there, so I think you did a good job with it.

The Wii balance board was also a pretty funny choice.
