Alignment: Dark-Law

Origin: Roman mythology. The god of agriculture, wealth, and seasons. His reign was considered a Golden Age of prosperity and peace. After the Greek conquest, Romans conflated him with Titan Cronus. He has two mistresses that represent his two sides: his sister Ops, a goddess of abundance and the mother of Jupiter, and Lua, a goddess of military destruction. Saturnus’s festival Saturnia was one of the most famous in the entire empire.

Skills: Akashic Arts, Ragnarok, Fire Dracostrike, Ice Block

Saturnus’s heavy association with fire always struck me as a bit odd. It’s a pretty cool design otherwise and would make for an amazing sun deity. Same with his Vile classification. Saturn is actually a revered god but his association with the Greek king of Titans probably made him suitable for the race. I don’t need to tell this but Saturnus focuses on one thing: clearing everything not immune to fire damage with sheer force.

This is frustrating. I won't lie and say that there weren't issues in what we gave to Sega, but what is in Origins is also not what we turned in. Integration introduced some wild bugs that conventional logic would have one believe were our responsibility- a lot of them aren't.

This is frustrating. I won't lie and say that there weren't issues in what we gave to Sega, but what is in Origins is also not what we turned in. Integration introduced some wild bugs that conventional logic would have one believe were our responsibility- a lot of them aren't.

They still haven't learned their lesson from Sonic 06, and they think that they need to rush out a game in time for an anniversary even though that's rarely if ever worked for them. (though I don't even think this was an anniversary game; last year would have been Sonic's 30th anniversary)

• Sega broke the game themselves (cause they suck)
• The big bug fixes aren't in place because Sega said no delays (also resulting in crunch, which they knew would happen)
• Nobody on the team was satisfied with the product
• There's a good chance this burns bridges and no more Sonic games from them (but he just wants to get the word out)
• (In a seperate tweet) most of his issies come from Sega Of Japan, Iizuka not being one of them

It was that Sega made major changes to the version they did submit, not that they used a different one, but yeah still bad either way of course:

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this... I did not say that there was another build from us that they didn't use - what I was trying to say was that they made major modifications to the build we did submit, Some Origins-related, some not. It affected some of our work.

Cuttlefish out of nowhere starts racially profilling Marina, Pearl was somehow was completely unaware that Marina was a different race, but then starts threating Cuttlefish that if she would kill him if he were to hate crime her, and the Cuttlefish goes, "I LOVE MINORITIES! I DON'T SEE RACE!"

They may not stop you from emulating their old games they don't sell anymore, play and make fangames, or other fan works and preservation works, but like...They ain't saints, lol.

One thing I want to say, which is NOT in defense of Sonic Team or Sega; I noticed someone from somewhere say they have not learned from Sonic 06 with Origins. That may be the case, somewhat, but for Sonic 06, they just moved the release date to an earlier time, giving no time to fix the physics, gameplay and everything else. For Origins, it seems mostly that they edited most of the things Headcanon and the other non-Sonic Team workers did, which backfired. It is possible they could still learn from that in the future.

Not trying to defend anyone here, I just wanted to point out one thing about how Sonic 06 ended up and how Sonic Origins ended up are not entirely the same thing.

Sonic has pretty much proven he's unkillable at this point so the unfortunate truth is that they're seeing the current model is working and getting them money at faster turn arounds, soooooooo


Sucks eggs but them's the unfortunate breaks. I love this series, but I've come to just kinda take the good with the bad: Its devs are crazy talented, but it seems they will forever be doomed to management that still hasn't learned the lesson that needed to be learned all the way back during the Sega Saturn launch: "Hey, maybe video games are HARD and need TIME! What a wacky idea!"
