Okay so I slept on it and now I'm not as annoyed by it.
I admit, I found it a weird idea when the rumours first surfaced, but I've been open to it since day one. I love occasional canonical crossovers, or even just canonical links between series (I maintain a big list) that work well, and since the Rabbids' gig is invading places, I really like this one.

I'm not a particular fan of the game's alleged genre, but the idea is appealing enough to me to spark enough curiousity for me to at least give it a look. Whether it's ultimately for me, I don't know. I guess we'll see before too long.

Desperation wasn't the right word, it's more like branching out to a wider audience.
That is something I'd expect them to do, really - from the Vans/Nintendo clothing and accessories collaboration a little while back, to the recent Super Mario McDonalds Happy Meal toys, to the upcoming theme park at Universal Studios, to this, they're doing everything I would expect in terms of continuing to keep an evergreen franchise relevant.

I think the thing here is that this wasn't the first crossover in a lot of people's minds!

I'm not sure if the Rabbids reach out to a wider audience than Rayman when it comes to Smash. I still think he beats them in being more recognisable and likeable for the target audience.
Smash is pretty broadly aimed at a family audience, so its target covers a pretty wide range of ages.

In a very focussed place like this, where that audience seems to skew a little older, I would expect Rayman to be more recognisable and likeable, since a lot of us can remember when he was originally relevant, but out there in the wider market, I'd have to side with the Rabbids.

At the end of the day, we have no way of knowing. Nothing we do here really has any influence on what a team far away in another country is going to choose.

You really like the Rabbids don't you? I still find them quite annoying but I'll stop being a killjoy then
I do like them, indeed! The Rabbids are a modern incarnation of the slapstick and absurdism from classic cartoons like Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Ren & Stimpy, all of which I grew up watching, so I've always found them amusing.

Anyway, I'm getting too off-topic here, since we don't know if Daisy is even involved in this crossover game yet, so I'll conclude by saying don't worry about being a killjoy - there's stuff that's not made for me, there's stuff that's not made for you. We all have different tastes, and I get that, and it's what leads to interesting discussions. ;) Some people want Daisy in Smash, some people don't. Some people are going to be utterly horrified if there's an official Daisy-Rabbid, and some of us are going to laugh like maniacs if it happens.

Though I wonder if it's only an NPC, as it is said that there are only 8 playable characters.
If the playable characters are set in stone, Daisy and Daisy-Rabbid's inclusion as NPCs would be better than nothing, I think. It's more exposure!

Agreed. A cameo at this point is better than nothing despite our earlier speculationz

Well with DK that must be eight characters not including rabbids because if it was a character and a rabbid equivalent it would be mario and rabbid, Luigi and rabbid, Peach and rabbid, Yoshi and rabbid... and that would make eight.

So you get four more mario characters...

DK.
Wario.

... then the next two are anyone's guess but Daisy and Waluigi would be decent picks. Or Toad. Or Rosalina.

What I find laughable is Ubisoft trying to sell four cosplaying Rabbids as their own unique characters. They're even dressed as the four actual characters.

We've literally seen a couple of pieces of leaked artwork. How is it possible to draw any conclusions about what Ubisoft are trying to do, here? :p They haven't even officially announced the game!

Also, there's the fact that weird costumes are something favoured by the Rabbids. That's been established for longer than I can remember - it's just a thing that they do. It's clear that all that's on show here is an image showing that these characters for whom dressing up is established, are once again dressing up.

Splinter cell rabbid was different than regular rabbid in the turtles game.

At least Rabbid Mario and his groupies won't be Mario Kart racers.

I'm not sure if it's really food looking. Maybe if I stare at it long enough it'll start looking like a bell pepper or something, but it does look really good though. I'm always amazed at what people can accomplish with sprites.
xD Oops, I didn't noticed that I put the f instead of the g! Goddamnit, I hate my sight!
Me like.

Spritework this good always makes me smile.

Just like that one Super Daisy Land piece I've seen earlier.
xD I can agree, I wonder how people can do something this detailed ...I tried and my eyes hurt.

Another personal favorite of mines from Pixiv.

While not dark enough, it's a pretty faithful adaption of the classic design.

There seem to be Smash switch leaks starting. Time for them to offer both Daisy outfits shown.
Take them for a grain of salt at best.

Remember the Rayman leak? Plus, there are several inconsistencies with said leak.

But if the leak is true, we are probably going to see the same Daisy trophies and colors at best.

It's all too easy to fake (hacked Wii U consoles and 3DS emulators that can upscale see to that), and it doesn't line up with what Bandai-Namco were hiring people for in the "Smash 6" job-listing from three years ago, too. (It's also noteworthy, as an aside, that we know that Super Mario Odyssey went into development three years ago, and that it's also been claimed that Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle did, too.)

The real question is, why does one bother with 4Chan in the first place when they always had a history of fake leaks? Let alone Smash ones.

Yeah, I've always preferred Daisy's original design over the new one. Yeah, I'm used to the new design but the original design always appealed to me.

Salt, take everything they say unless it's from a reliable source with a grain of salt.

Just two weeks until E3. Everything will be worth the wait.

Not that we can expect Daisy there. I don't see Nintendo announcing another Mario Party like the last time. It would only be a reminder of the worst E3 of all time (2015).

I'd argue 2008 was far worse. Nothing casual fodder (Wii Fit, etc), a cringeworthy performance for Wii Music (the worst game Miyamoto was ever involved in), and few games that targeted gamers.

Though I'm not going to pretend that 2015 wasn't severely flawed for Nintendo. If we happen to get another Mario Party, then it's probably going to be another "Fair Share Car with No Challenge" Mario Party.

You know there's something wrong when a Wii U port is the only good thing to come out of Mario this year. I wouldn't count Odyssey since that's not out yet, even though we'll obviously get plenty of coverage for it at E3. It would be foolish to expect Daisy to appear in that type of game.

Agreed. Daisy appearing in a non-spinoff Mario game is a pipe dream at best. The best shot she has is her own personal spinoff. Better than nothing and it won't stop Odyssey from being good.

Glad I've long accepted that Mario Party just won't be good as it used to any more. Not even Daisy's pretty face would get me to play them.

Man I got so many ideas for Daisy art.
(And by so many I mean two)
First the Daisy amiibo is revealed to always summon the Dread Fighter in Echoes, so I thought about making a Daisy Dread Fighter.
Then there's Padparadscha, a gem who kinda looks like Daisy from the latest episodes of Steven Universe.

I wish they made a Mario Party All-star game where the fans chose the majority of the maps, items, and minigames they wanyed to see. Also, get rid of that wagon thing.

Yep. Being able to choose whichever you want for your Mario Party experience would be a nice deal if they have the resources.

I can get that they want to make things fair for Mario Party, but the car is making sure everyone suffers equally.
Like the only time you would see the characters walk is during minigames and not on the overworld maps anymore. Even the addition of Bowser mayhem in 10 barely changed a thing.

You know what I'd like, Mario Party classic, with amiibo support. And not that nonsense where you have to tap it to the controller (though with Switch's much smaller controllers that wouldn't be as much as a problem.) I mean kind of like Smash's amiibo where they get better at the game as they're used more. That way you can make your own custom foe, to cover your crippling lack of friends.

That would be an interesting addition to Mario Party.

Smash's Amiibo functionality was great because it provided Ai that can learn and challenges you better than a CPU player would. This function is a must for Mario party, even if it would ruin your friendship with that Amiibo. Mines had been collecting dust due to not playing with them lately.

Even my Daisy Amiibo is there for novelty when she's compatible with mediocre games like Mario Party 10.

Maybe... the amiibo should be used to add extra playable characters in Mario Party.

It would be interesting to play as Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Duck Hunt, Captain Falcon, etc. in Mario Party.

Nintendo needs to give us good reasons why we should get amiibo and use them in their games.

I wouldn't mind this at all.

But then that would cause more "Amiibo is locked DLC" arguments.

This remains my favourite usage of Amiibo, to date. I just wish that they'd included similar functionality in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, building upon both Smash's Amiibo functionality, and Mario Kart 7's StreetPass feature (which built an AI based on how you play, which other players would receive via StreetPass) - that way, I could've put some worthwhile data on my Daisy Amiibo, already.
