This is the cutest thing I've seen yet this year.Forgive me if posting art is discouraged in the new social thread, but I thought this picture was too adorable not to share:

Feh.Famitsu will have a preview of M&S at the Rio games Wii U version, but sadly it still only shows Rosalina doing gymnastics.

You said it. They add lots of characters and then will do half of the job. My hopes are low. Really low.Feh.
Things aren't looking good for this game.
They certainly just wanted to show newcomers and took these two. It's a definite that Miis will at least be playable. No reason why they wouldn't be.
But the console versions of these games generally don't even attempt to have a story mode, we will probably just get Legends Showdown 2.0. I would imagine characters like Rosalina will just be rivals in that mode and then when you beat them, you unlock them to play as in that event.
Which is dumb. Why are Rosalina and Rouge on the front cover if they are going to get such a small role?
It sounds like even the Wii U version will have character restrictions if Rosalina is only allowed to participate in Gymnastics.Famitsu will have a preview of M&S at the Rio games Wii U version, but sadly it still only shows Rosalina doing gymnastics.

And if that happens, new outfits will also be cancelled. I know that Rosalina, for one thing, isn't restricted to aquatics because that image was leaked and unfortunately was removed. It sounds like even the Wii U version will have character restrictions if Rosalina is only allowed to participate in Gymnastics.
I mean, no reason why they wouldn't.Geez, that sounds like the laziest thing they could possibly do. Character restrictions would make no sense at all on the Wii U version especially with fan favorites like Rosalina. Maybe they're just using her as the poster girl for that particular event in their advertisements and we'll see more of her close to or after release. They wouldn't be that lazy with this game, right? ...Right?
If Ultra Smash has anything to say about this matter, then yes, Nintendo can potentially become lazy with the Wii U version of the Rio 2016 Olympics as well.Geez, that sounds like the laziest thing they could possibly do. Actually, SEGA make the Mario & Sonic Olympics. Nintendo just gives them the license to use their characters and assets. If Ultra Smash has anything to say about this matter, then yes, Nintendo can potentially become lazy with the Wii U version of the Rio 2016 Olympics as well.
The only problem with THAT game is that it entirely misses the point of what people expected it to be...Well, at least TMS #FE looks packed. There ought to be plenty of Super Saiyan Marth and hopefully we'll have more Olympics Rosalina. And of course the cuteness that is Mini Rosalina.
You can blame the Japanese fanbase for that, I think. Either that, of I'm extremely ignorant. The only problem with THAT game is that it entirely misses the point of what people expected it to be...
...seriously, I don't know what Nintendo does be thinking sometimes.
I just think it's Nintendo being tone deaf. You can blame the Japanese fanbase for that, I think. Either that, of I'm extremely ignorant.
The game's been in development for how many years, now? Four? Possibly even longer than that. The Japanese fanbase, as well as the niche American fanbase, anticipated this game for YEARS. Unfortunately, for both sides, the game is exclusive only on Wii U, which means there's little to no chance of ever reaching even a smidge of their target audience.I just think it's Nintendo being tone deaf.
Either that, or Atlus wanted to make a new game with original characters, and realised it could sell better with the SMT and FE names (even though it still did terribly in Japan despite that).
Well we don't know that for sure, because things went quiet for a good while. The game's been in development for how many years, now? Four? Possibly even longer than that. Either way you put it, it's very likely the game won't sell well. Considering the fact that Nintendo isn't using Atlus at all aside from some development help here and there, they've made a bad decision on their part. Hopefully with the NX, things can change.Well we don't know that for sure, because things went quiet for a good while.
I honestly think the game went on a hiatus for a bit, and that's why it took so long to come out. Either that or it went through development hell and they started over or something.

Looks like 3D World modding might be gearing up.
I hope we get to the point of having a level creator like Galaxy and Galaxy 2 had "Anarchy in the Galaxy".
I want to make courses designed to exploit Rosalina's attributes.
Hope they can bring us something good at E3, or else...Well, it's no surprise Nintendo were being lazy AS USUAL with games like those. It's them we're talking about here.
I honestly don't care about those kinds of games, anyway. I'm only interested in the AAA games.Well, it's no surprise Nintendo were being lazy AS USUAL with games like those. It's them we're talking about here.
Frankly, I feel like she should more be the All-Around-type, since the Power-type is often cursed with having poor speed, and Rosalina definitely doesn't look like a slowpoke.I just want the Rugby Rosalina to come true...
We need her to keep being the Power Class gal!
I highly doubt it but we'll see if it's gonna be any better than last year's.Hope they can bring us something good at E3, or else...
Her speed isn't always her best attribute... Even in MK8, she has a lack of speed for more acceleration. I would prefer Rosalina being a power-type (isn't she by the way the first lady of the series to be power-type?). And I want her to fight Bowser in the boxing event right to outer space! Not just doing... rythmic gymnastics...Frankly, I feel like she should more be the All-Around-type, since the Power-type is often cursed with having poor speed, and Rosalina definitely doesn't look like a slowpoke.
Just in case you've forgotten, Rosalina has the second highest speed, and the second lowest acceleration in Mario Kart 8. Yes, Rosalina is slower than the likes of Bowser, Wario, Morton, and Dry Bowser, but her speed stats are still above average. Her speed isn't always her best attribute... I've not forgotten, I wasn't aware of this, that's it. Doesn't change my mind though, especially when the 3DS game states her speed and technique are average, while her power and stamina are above average. Minus stamina, she's got approximately the same stats as Wario (just a bit faster and a bit weaker). Unless those characteristics are changed in the Wii U version, she's got more chances to be power than all-around (or technique). That's why it's weird for her to be stuck with gymnastics with such characteristics.Just in case you've forgotten, Rosalina has the second highest speed, and the second lowest acceleration in Mario Kart 8. Yes, Rosalina is slower than the likes of Bowser, Wario, Morton, and Dry Bowser, but her speed stats are still above average.
Anyway, I just think that making Rosalina an All-Around character would enable her to fare well in just about any event. Most Power characters tend to have poor speed, and almost all of them have poor technique stats as well.
I think that there is a compromise here. Traditionally Power characters have lower technique/ speed stats. Similarly to how Knuckles is a more rounded out power character in terms of Speed, Rosalina can have relatively low/average power and stamina for a power character in exchange for having higher technique at the cost of acceleration and/or speed (by SM3DW logic).I guess when I think about Rosalina's typing, she seems more like a Technical-type or Tricky-type character. If Rosalina was a Tricky-type, she could've easily make powerful curves that can make even Boo feel jealous.
Anyway, Rosalina and Power-type just doesn't mix for my tastes, because she lacks the physical bulk that Wario, Donkey Kong, and Bowser are known for.
IIRC, people say she still has decent speed in Mario Tennis despite being a Power character, so I think they should just make her specialise in Power and Speed, mostly power, without lowering her Power stat much. They are the most tangible stats she would be associated with. Power for her physique, powerful magic and status, and heavyweight status in Mario Kart. Speed because long legs or floating, and because she's fast in Mario Kart. She's got the slowest speed STAT in 3D World, but that game took great liberties with her anyway for obvious reasons, and she still works out as technically being the fastest character in the game due to the wide versatility of the Spin Attack, especially chaining it with Long Jumps or using it to Mega Man X your way across walls.I think that there is a compromise here. Traditionally Power characters have lower technique/ speed stats. Similarly to how Knuckles is a more rounded out power character in terms of Speed, Rosalina can have relatively low/average power and stamina for a power character in exchange for having higher technique at the cost of acceleration and/or speed (by SM3DW logic).
We don't exactly have that many female Tricky-type characters either. Yes there's Baby Peach, but frankly, I find her status as a Tricky-type character to be quite awkward as a whole. We don't need another female character that's All-Round, Speed, Technique, etc. There are absolutely no female Power types in most Mario spin-offs to my knowledge, and Rosalina makes the most sense to be a Power type out of all of them anyway. Might as well make her one.
