Even though I REALLY want him in the game, at this point I would be fine with him being shown as a boss/hazard. Palutena and Mii (don't like the concept but the gameplay looks awesome) reveals had me jumping around screaming and Ridley's reveal would probably kill me. I just hope he gets announced as something soon, cause if I have to wait until OCTOBER 3RD (NOT SUMMER NINTENDO -_-) to find out he's just a stage hazard, I WILL NOT be a happy camper.

You only need to look at the revealed list to see that just about every character announced pre-release so far is a much more mainstream representation of their series.
Ridley is a very obscure rep. Definitely not starter material.

And "The Goddess from Kid Icarus" isn't?

I'm not gonna make a call yet since we know E3 isn't over, but if people were right in saying that Sakurai was teasing Ridley in the April Direct as a fighter, E3 would be a good time to reveal him- or hell, at least before the game is released. He's a very popular character on the internets, and not something that big (tee hee) would be saved as a secret unlockable.

He is not disconfirmed but they can still announce him during the tournament and we would not see him on the pyrosphere if he is a boss during because it will be set in the final destination format. He needs to announce him already or just say he is not in it.

But guys, this is even more weird than ever before. To not show him but teasing lots of the game content is really REALLY weird. Palutena had lots of chances (imo, she had the most) so it's not surprising for me to see her. But here, we don't even know if he's deconfirm and you know what? not hearing about him solidifies even more his 50/50 as it wasn't enough. It sounds like Sakurai want to save him for later but the only event worthy to announce such thing is the invitationnal.

Your toughs? There's no way we're not going to know before release. It made too much noise for that.

Because the "coach" character of a fitness series is much less "obscure" than the primary villain of one of Nintendo's biggest and most storied franchises.

Right. The game sold a lot, but nobody -- nobody -- gave a **** about the Trainer. It was the game itself.

-Why was Link being pursued by some kind of machine?
-No metroid or star fox, even when star fox is official
The good news is that X is confirmed to be part of the xenoblade franchise and therefore increases Shluk chances of being in smash, oh and Bayonetta 1 is coming to the wii u with extras

He's not very obscure at all. Ridley himself is a Nintendo icon, it's not for nothing he stood alongside Bowser and Ganondorf when they had that villain E-shop sale, he's a very recognized face. But I do agree, I wasn't expecting him at E3, I'm actually at a loss for words that Pac-Man isn't here yet instead of Palutena. Ridley can very easily be a hidden character though, I agree with that, but if Palutena can be revealed at E3 so could Ridley.

As others have said, I really hope that the Mii doesn't end up being considered 3 or 9 characters (don't remember which) due to their special movepool. I would be disappointed if they decided this Mii idea would suffice as a replacement for additional characters like Ridley. I would hope that instead of having multiple colors for the Miis (alternate costumes, pallet swaps, etc.) they decide to group all 3 classes together so that what would normally cycle you through the colors of a character would just cycle you through the Mii classes. I feel if it is done in this way it will help other character's (like Ridley's) chances since the Miis would then only take up one spot on the roster screen.

I don't think his chances have changed at all. If anything, they're slightly better since we saw more Pyrosphere and still no Ridley. Try to be patient, there's still more Smash stuff to come later today.

Sal got another email last night. Mii's were listed as "Mii Fighter". What did we get today? "Mii Fighter". Is that another lucky guess?
