I('m like other people here. Dixie is currently my most wanted (now that Ghirahim has been announced AT but that's still pretty good) moreso than K Rool, Issac or anyone else.

Dixie's presence here on Smashboards is quite humble compared to Ridley or K Rool. I think people seem to not want her as much because she can be a Diddy clone or she doesn't seem as interesting as the others. Although I don't share the same opinion I can understand it.

Right now I think she is one of the most likely for DLC.

I'd be so disappointed if Nintendo chose to be lazy with Dixie and just make her diddy with a ponytail cause I'm pretty sick of everyone that hasn't played a DK game BUT Returns thinks of her in that way. :L She better at least use her ponytail helicopter and have her red hair/purple clothes outfit and THAT would make me happy even if they made her a poor fighter xD

but seriously, I really want Dixie. :c and I hope there's a lot of nostalgic DKC music on the Wii u. Brawling having the map/ special stage music made me cry happy tears when I 1st discovered it. :')

I think we'd all be disappointed if she ends up being a clone. However, I'm pretty sure that Sakurai would at least explore the possibility of her hair as a weapon if he makes her a fighter. I think he'd at the very least use it in her recovery.

As far as alts go, I agree that the purple clothes/red hair alt is a must, as well as a "Diddy" alt (Brown hair, red clothes). After that, I'm good with anything.

If Dixie gets in and ends up being terrible competitively, I'd be sad, but I'd still main her. At this point, a lot of people say that Palutena is bad, and I still main her because I like her as a character. Besides, I don't play at a high enough level for that to really matter.

I'm sure Dixie Kong was at least considered. Aside from the near-clones, perhaps she was pretty low on the priority list (by priority list, I mean deciding the newcomers from the beginning.). She is an important character now, perhaps she just wasn't unique enough to get past through the inclusions of Duck Hunt and Robin.

She has plenty of potential to be unique, though :)

In a general point of view, the concept of a hair-based fighter probably just doesn't catch enough attention to make me play as her IMO. If she was like Bayonetta though, she probably would been very high on the priority list. :p

I've been thinking. Dixie was shown as a trophy with an effect in Smash Tour, and we've seen the effects of most of the trophies except Dixie's. Have we seen what Dixie's effect is yet? And would this affect her chances at DLC?

Mewtwo has been seen as just a trophy in the 3DS version before DLC is announced.

Back during the days I'd play DK as a kid, she was my FAVORITE character. And I didn't even know she was a girl. I just loved her hair thing.

And I doubt she'd be a clone, as her hair would make her very unique. As far as hair-based fighters are concerned, I'd prefer Shantae, but Dixie would be sooo cool too X3

I think you can get a Mewtwo trophy in Smash Run.
The problem being brought up is that Dixie Kong is confirmed to have some sort of effect in Smash Tour, which means her trophy actually does something, as opposed to her trophy just being a collectable item. I don't really know what that means if anything... At the very least, it probably means she was never planned at any point to be a playable character. I don't know if that affects her chances as DLC, though. We don't exactly know how it works, but she'd probably have to be removed from Smash Tour if she was playable because you collect playable characters and trade them.

Wait, I'm confused here. If she's DLC I don't see why she can't be a fighter as well as an item, It's not like it makes any impact since she's an optinal character and the characters never physically appear on the board, hell we don't even know if DLC fighters appear in smash tour

The thing is, we don't know how anything works, but in general, for the most part its assumed characters can only have one role. If they're given a role in the game itself, it makes things iffy if they'll be considered as a DLC character later.

As far as Smash Tour having DLC characters as collectables... why WOULDN'T it? If the DLC characters can't be used in every scenario every other character in the game by default can be, what's the point in buying them in the first place? The DLC characters should, and will, be available for any mode than any other characters are available in.

The main confusion stems from having multiple versions of the same character on screen at once, a precedent set by Conductor Link. Yes, there is Donkey Kong and Classic DK, but its not the same situation because they are easily differentiated from one another.

As a whole, most have come to the conclusion that characters with a role greater than a mere collectable trophy cannot be DLC. This is kinda bridging the line, so its a question that needs to be legitimately discussed...

I way I see it, it only matters if both characters physically appear on screen, moving and everything

This talk about Dixie's trophy having an effect in Smash Tour... Damn, if she isn't a DLC character and other DK character is, I will be salty xD
I will admit, when I first saw Zero's hair I thought he was a girl, and it blatantly, completely totally reminded me of Dixie Kong.
Weird, Zero looks quite masculine even in his 16-bit sprite form.

Actually, maybe I'm not thinking right. I'm pretty sure I always knew that he was a guy, but his hair threw me off.

As far as a DLC character for DK goes... well, there's really only one other viable candidate. I still say they should both be DLC, though, and be released in the same pack. :p

I just realized something, A lot of the smash run character items are assists (Tingle, kat and ana, darkrai, magnus, latios and latios) and sakurai also claimed that they wanted to add more cause it would factor into "all-star mode".

I think I'm about really to give up at this point

Takamaru isn't on this list nor is Skull Kid or others.
Plus, Sakurai said there will be roughly the same number of AT's between versions. And the white look too many to be "roughly" the same number.
There's probably a lot more trophies in Smash Tour that aren't on this list.

I'm pretty sure he said the wii u version would have more, that list only has about 10 that could actually be assists

Also this either confirms or deconfirms new pork city, which either hurts or helps lucas

I don't know why people assume this is the full list. I agree, there's probably a lot more, this is just the few we know about.

I don't think it's really that big of a deal at all that Dixie has a trophy item effect in Smash Tour.

Like, include a patch with Dixie Kong that turns the Smash Tour trophy into Tiny Kong. Problem solved. :/

Agreed. This situation can be resolved with very little difficulties. It's not like replacing or removing an Assist Trophy or anything complex like that. If they want to make Dixie DLC, I highly doubt this would stop them.

I made this moveset for Dixie Kong!

Dixie Kong has high air speed so she can float around the stage with ease. She also has a sweetspot like Marth, just at the tip of her ponytail.

Jab
: Dixie slaps twice, then does a roundhouse kick. Total 8%.
Forward Tilt: Dixie jerks her head in front of her, hitting with the ponytail for 7%, 10% with sweetspot.
Up Tilt: Dixie balances on her ponytail and kicks upwards twice. Total 11%.
Down Tilt: Dixie swings her ponytail over her head to hit the ground in front of her. 9%.
Dash Attack: Dixie charges forwards, spinning her ponytail in front of herself like a helicopter. It hits four times, 6% per hit.

Forward Smash: Dixie Kong balances on one hand and spins, first kicking, then smacking with her ponytail. 8% on the kick, followed by 15% on the ponytail hit (24% with the sweetspot).
Up Smash: Dixie curls her ponytail like a spring, then bounces up and does a scissor kick. 20% and excellent for KOing.
Down Smash: Dixie Kong spins around like Donkey Kong's up special. 16%.

Neutral Aerial: Dixie twirls her ponytail around herself like a ribbon. 13%.
Forward Aerial: Dixie spins and smacks with her ponytail. 12%, with 17% at the sweetspot.
Back Aerial: Dixie spins her ponytail like a helicopter. 17%, and it propels her forward.
Up Aerial: Dixie does the classic ponytail spin. Hits five times for 3% per hit, and it slows her descent.
Down Aerial: Dixie swings her ponytail downwards. Very quick, for 17% (21% at the sweetspot). It also meteor smashes at an angle.

Grab and Pummel: Dixie whips out her ponytail to pull opponents in. She headbutts for 4% per pummel.
Forward Throw: Dixie spins the opponents once and flings them forward. 18%.
Back Throw: Dixie spins around and flings the opponent behind her. 14%.
Down Throw: Dixie slams the opponent onto the ground, then bounces off them with her hair. 16%.
Up Throw: Dixie grabs the opponent with her feet and pushes them upwards. 13%.

Neutral Special--Ponytail Punch: This move works like a combination of DK's Giant Punch and Marth's Shield Breaker. Dixie winds up her ponytail and lashes it forward. 28% full charged, 36% at the sweetspot.
Side Special-- Bubblegum Blast: Dixie takes out some bubblegum and begins to chew it depending on how long the player holds the button. When released, Dixie blows a bubble and pops it, stunning anyone in range. No damage, this move is for set-ups.
Up Special-- Ponytail Copter: Works similar to DK's Spinning Kong. After using it, Dixie slowly descends. 15% and pushes people
Down Special-- Rocket Bongos: Dixie equips a pair of Rocket Bongos from Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. On the ground this move does 14% and sends Dixie upwards. In midair, the move is a meteor smash.

Final Smash-- Barrel Cannon Combo: Dixie Kong whistles and four Barrel Cannons appear in four corners of the screen. Dixie flies to the nearest one. You can tilt the cannon to face another, then press the button to fire Dixie into one of the cannons, taking out anyone in her way for 40% damage.

I made this moveset for Dixie Kong!

Dixie Kong has high air speed so she can float around the stage with ease. She also has a sweetspot like Marth, just at the tip of her ponytail.
Jab: Dixie slaps twice, then does a roundhouse kick.

Wow! Amazing moveset! I really hope Dixie's DLC for Smash 4!

Dixie's trophy having an effect kind of hurts her chances IMO. As for whether or not she's an AT, if it's true that Chunky is an AT, it seems unlikely that they'd have two Kong ATs. Given how much Sakurai hates/doesn't care about DK, that just seems like way too much content for him to give us.

Apart from veterans I think Dixie is the character with the best shot at being DLC.

But if somehow she doesn't make it, or she's a clone, she really should've been the character to make it as a slapdash clone over Dark Pit.

I actually think newcomers (Dixie included) have better chances than the cut veterans, lol

That said, I agree that her trophy having an effect in Smash Tour definitely hurts her chances. I am preparing myself for the worst.

The only thing I'm clinging to is that Suckerai seems to have started acknowledging Tropical Freeze late on in development. A Spanish journalist also claims to have seen a moving model of Dixie, but that could be bad news in light of this new trophy news. If they gave her trophy an effect, then it means she was probably never intended to be playable, so to see a moving model that early on probably points towards her being an AT.

At the same time though if she was an AT it'd almost certainly have to be hair-related, and I can't think of what she could do as an AT, as in her games so just uses it as a means of self-transport. Then there's also the potential Chunky AT, and I don't think they'd give us two Kong ATs.

I need to stop thinking.
