EDIT: Introduction will remain until I have both halves of this thread working.

Purpose and Introduction
Alright, guys. News is I should have the game in my hands on or around the 6th of Feburary. When that happens I'll make three videos. One video of me performing all of Wolf's moves with quick vocal explanations of how everything feels, his weight, the animations, lag, etc. Second video of the same thing but direct TV footage, no vocals, just on screen, good quality, action. Third video of me as Wolf vs. one of my Friend's as Fox as a teaser video. A one on one can project the image of how Wolf plays much moreso than a frantic FFA.

Again, that isn't for another week or so, so this thread is reserving that spot.

However, feel free to speculate, discuss, or give any input on his moveset thus far. Also, I would divide the first post up into two, making the first half a compliation of every Wolf video and an explanation next to it (stage, spoilarz, etc).

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by doing this...

So, long story short. Reserved.

*sigh* SO MANY LANDMASTERS.

But I digress, I'm looking forward to play as Wolf. I was never much a Fox fan, I did like Falco a bit, so I'd like to try Wolf. I'm a SWARD guy, m'self.

Yay first post for Kash.

Okay, that took A LOT longer to update than I thought it would, but I went through some 80 Brawl videos and 10 threads and this is what I've got.

If I'm missing any videos, please let me know.

Hey. Here's wolf's entire moveset. You may want to add it to the front of this page.

All of the names are made up by myself. These are not official names and can be changed when we know the real names of the attacks thanks to a Famitsu guide or something.

STANDARD ATTACKS
----------------------

AAA: standard combo
description: Two fast slashes with his claws and then a final hit with knockback.

U-tilt: Sky kick
description: Wolf does a cute can-can style kick over his head with a little hop. Hits above him, pretty standard fare.

F-tilt: Wolf claw
description: Wolf slashes in front of him with his claws. A single hit with a large hittime. Very satisfying to land this attack. It seems very strong for a tilt and has good KO power and range.

D-tilt: Wolf Sweep
description: a low sweeping kick. I've seen this move twice and it looked a bit different each time. Need to see more of it. It could possibly be a claw, too.

Running attack: Setting Sun
description: a running flip-kick. Looks very similar to Fox's up smash.

SMASH ATTACKS
-----------------------

Up smash: Lupus dance
description: a breakdance style vertical drop kick. Like all Wolf's smash attack, this thing has massive range and decent power. Hits slightly to the side as well as he swings his legs.

Forward smash: Fenrir palm
description: Wolf lunges forwards and slams his palm into the opponent in kung-fu style. Covers massive horizontal distance and has crazy range. Good launching power too.

Down smash: Canis Claw
description: Wolf slashes low on both sides with his claws. Great range for such a fast attack.

AERIAL ATTACKS
-------------------

N-air: Spinning Wolf
description: Wolf tucks his legs and arms in and spins his body for a multi-hit cannonball attack.

U-air: Star ripper
description: Wolf slashes the air above him with his claws, ending up in a star jump position. Very fast with decent coverage above his head.

F-air: Hunter's kick
description: a flying great kick to the front. Fast and has great range thanks to Wolf's long legs.

B-air: Lunar straight
description: Wolf does a straight kick backwards. Very similar to his F-air except it seems to have less lag.

D-air: Wolven hammer
description: Wolf swings his fists down between his legs for a two-handed hammer attack. This attack spikes and has a fair amount of startup time.

THROWS
------------

grab attack: unkown

U-Throw: Deadly claw
description: Wolf holds his opponent above his head and slashes them with his claws.

F-Throw: unknown

D-Throw: Feral star
descripton: Wolf jumps above his opponent's head, balances there and then scratches them hard with his foot.

B-throw: Blind star
description: Wolf pulls the opponent behind him, then jumps up onto their face and kicks them away.

TAUNTS
-----------

Taunt1: Wolf throws back his head and howls.

Taunt 2: Wolf does some fancy kicks and says "Doush'ta Doush'ta?" ("what's wrong?")
Taunt 3: Wolf crouches down on all fours and howls.

SPECIAL MOVES
-----------------

Up special: Shooting Star
description: Wolf pauses for a split second and then blasts into the air. Very good recovery move and can be directed. Some people say they've seen him do a spinning kick at the end of this attack. Using this move on the ground causes Wolf to do some kind of massive flying Falcon Kick that covers an amazing amount of horizontal distance.

F-Special: Wolf illusion
description: a dashing illusion attack that angles upwards on a 20degree slant. Great for recovery and attacking opponents in the air.

N-Special: Blaster
description: Wolf fires his blaster. A single green bullet comes out that travels slowly for a mid range projectile attack.

D-Special: reflector
description: Wolf's reflector is red and has a bladed design rather than a hexagon. It has similar properties to Fox's reflector, but much more range when hitting opponents. It reflects projectiles back at twice the original speed.

FINAL SMASH
----------------

Heh...LANDOMASTAAAAAAA!!
Wolf's read landmaster is easier to ram people with, and the blast seems to come out a bit quicker.

Hah, "What's Wrong?"

Anyone who's been tailed by Wolf in SF64 knows that line well.

Some interesting tidbits I noticed while playing against him:

- His reflector is different in that it doesn't just reflect projectiles - it reflects them back at double their speed when the projectile hit. Samus once shot a super missile at it and when it reflected back it ZOOMED back at high speed, taking Samus by surprise. We tested later and found this to be true for anything it reflects - it reflects but doubles the velocity in the other direction. It can attack too, but I don't think it does anything special when it hits (didn't seem to shine spike).

- His Side+B has two effects - it works like Fox's while warping, however, when he gets to his destination it counts as a VERY powerful shoulder slam attack. So, if you aim it just right so that you end up directly overlapping an enemy at the end of the warp, it is a VERY powerful attack and one of his best kill moves. Great for when you are going to recover - instead of warping to the ledge, warp directly into the guy standing on the ledge trying to guard you and BAM, they are flung away. Good stuff.

-His Up Special is different than Fox/Falco in that it does many hits and drags the opponents in instead of a single hit.

- He's oddly slow moving on the ground, but very fast once he's in the air - like the opposite of Sonic. His attacks come out quick though, he can juggle and combo well, and has several great finishers.

He seems very likely to be top tier though, I'm a bit worried he's the next Fox/Shiek for Brawl. Anyone playing as him tended to do very well, all his moves flow together nicely and he seems to have no real weaknesses. He's slower than Fox/Falco, sure, but his power more than makes up for it.

I think you mean GOD tier.

Thank you Nessbounder. I'll update my thread with the moveset and credit to you, though didn't the Star Wolf Squadron descide on some different names? Ie dash attack = Crescent Moon and not Setting Sun?

Also, Thank you Zauron.

I don't mind if you update the attack names. The ones I made up are just placeholders for the official names. And Crescent Moon is much better than Setting Sun.

Oh, by the way: I know what Wolf's reflector does.

It has an unimpressive close-range hit, but it reflects projectiles back at double the speed!

I lost it, sorry. Gamefaqs moves like Sonic on crack.

I think it was also said on the "impressions of a competitive player" on the general boards, but I'm not sure.

You don't have to believe me, but at the least we've seen Wolf's reflector hit Falco in that recent competitive vid. Weak knockback, but he'll probably be able to shine-spike.

Ah, so THAT'S where I saw it!

Lol, silly me! You're right, it was you who posted that information.

Hey, Wolf's reflector seems to have some startup time. Did you notice this while playing him?

Lol.

I didn't notice, but it wouldn't surprise me. In general Wolf is slower than Fox, and I get the impression that his reflector was intended to be used primarily just for reflecting things, and not so much for actually attacking. Next time I get a chance I'll try to pay attention to that detail.

Wow, Wolf is really that unbalanced? I just hope your impressions don't turn out to be the norm in the long run. I knew Brawl wasn't going to be perfectly balanced, but I was hoping there wouldn't be anyone as good as Fox, Sheik, and Marth.

Brawl is more balanced than Melee...

Except for Wolf. :) He CLEARLY looks like the best character.

HOWEVER, from watching more vids, I've discovered some weaknesses that can help balance Wolf out: A lot of his attacks, especially the ones where he doesn't use his claws, are unsafe on block. He does get a lot of lag on his smash attacks, and will be vulnerable to dodge and roll manuvres.

Oh, and every time you try to use his Fsmash against skilled Marth, Ike, Peach and Lucario players, you will take damage.

I hear that some of his moves are more powerful, and he generally has less lag and delay on his attacks, though. Have you played him yourself?
