Break the Targets....
And, finally, after Nintendo seems to have played Capcom's Street Fighter III: Third Strike, The only fighting game with replay to memory card features, They have decided to take the idea for themselfs for brawl and make us able to record without a capture device. (ABOUT TIME.)

The reason why it'd be 3 minuets it's the wii's small memory capacity of 512MB.
Videos of about 3 minuets uncompressed take up around 300mb at high quality, so Nintendo might have to have a built in compressor to the game itself, WHICH IS POSSIBLE.

where is C Falcon???
Like said in the past by many others, They've left him out so far and they will completely forget about him being in the game until 24 hours before production, Then Sakurai will be like... "Wait... wheres Captain Falcon?" "GUYS! WHERE THE **** IS CAPTAIN FALCON?!?!?!" Character design and code people: Umm, he was too awesome for the game sorry sir.
Sakurai: YOU ALL SHALL PAY! *FALCON.....PUNCH*
Little dude: NOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo..
END and PHAIL.

I'm really curious as to if you can save your battle videos or not. It would be nice to be able to save 3 minute matches onto your SD card and then watch them on the Photo Channel or even your computer.

Items in break the targets? This is one update I'm upset about, break the targets no longer tests skill validly - you can't compare yourself to other say, Samus players, because someone can get a Pokeball and get a Raikou or something, knocking a bunch of targets out.

Note the baseball bat and crate there.

And if there's no longer unique maps, then how do we know what a good record is?

yay, video replays! This limits the ability of fakers and posers to pretend that they're experts. Despite not being a character update, this is a pretty important one.

Accountability ftw.

Only 3 minutes? Darrrrrrrrn...
The 3 minutes PROBABLY has to do with the memory (512MB) since he said "about". If it was an exact rule of the game mechanic he'd say exactly "3 minutes".

I'm sure with an SD card you will be allowed to record much more. But I just love the idea of recording anyway.

I won't need to use it much however since I have a video capture card.

so there's gonna be 5 different maps for each character or what? I didn't get what they were saying with that.
Basically there are going to be 5 different maps for target test and only five.

EDIT: Love the idea of video replays. Sounds awesome. :]

Epic lulz

Now I feel all important! BTW, there were people complaining to a relatively large extent. Maybe you should READ.

Silliness aside, I'm hoping for a character update. Possibly Falcon? I'unno.
...Flamming...arguments..bad...how can I resist?
Oh, I can't!
Hi, My Name Is:
Argument against the amusing n00b, simply as I'm a bored little Adder with way to much time on his hands, and way to much hair on his hands also.

Th DK Video? Not even a double update?

Gosh, I would think that they would give us something other than filler updates seeing as though they delayed our game..
Hardly a really large overeaction.

Everywhere...Subspace Emissary Exclusive #1.
Again, pretty calm.

Well, This is quite gutting to be honest.
I want Falcon...
FALCON...Cry!
Less so, but still not to bad.

I wish they'd just reveal Mega Man already so I can sleep easy at night!
That's not even about the update, and he doesn't seem to angry.

If Sakurai was next to me I'd ***** slap him and tell him to try again
He did go a little over the top. Rawr!

Most epic DKC remix ever. This better be stage music, and not just for the cut scene.
That's a positive comment!

I have a feeling there will be more disappointing updates like this in the coming days... If Sakurai knew that we have already seen them, maybe he could make it worth while and post an old and a new.

What are the current tallies of what has been seen but not officially released? If we figure that out, we can know how many more repeat updates we will get.
Not that negative, not that positive. Just kinda "ehh".

I don't know. I haven't seen it either. To everyone that's complaining about already seeing it: STFU. Not everyone's as obsessed as you, and has scoured the web for every bit of Brawl info. I visit the Dojo, and that's it, as I'm sure many people do.

And, about the update:

...Awesome.
Yep..they should all just STFU. All whining, bitching, lunatics. Dang them! STFU guys! Jeez!
I dunno...SWF these days.

Anyways, replay:
Huzzah! About time we got some of these stuff in the game. Good update.

This update made me laugh, talking about shaving off "a hundredth of a second", I think that was referencing not only to the target test, but to L-cancelling as well, haha.

Well, according to one of the screenshots, there's an "SD Card" button, so it appears that we will indeed be able to save these videos on SD cards.. which makes sense since having all the videos on the system itself would take a LOT of space.

What we'll be able to do with them once they're saved, though.. that's a different story that we don't know yet.

lol at Blackadder calling up 3 day old posts. :p
P.s: I wounder if the video time limit could be expanded with SD.
(Expanding the time, not saving. 3 Minuets isn't normally long enough if your playing in a tournament match)

I guess those of us who guessed that the blurred out tab on the pictures was in fact, a video replay. Too bad its only 3 minuets, but I'll take it.

I'm happy we can save replays, but it doesn't look like we can record a match over three minutes. Target Test however is very lackluster to me, because I only played it to earn what I needed to earn in the past games, I never actually enjoyed the mode in itself.

The last time I played Target Test in Melee was probably the week it came out, back in 2001.

I honestly could not resist for the life of me.
I wonder if Goopy will relise that I'm really only half serious with all that crap I said.

As for expanding the time, I hope we can. I doubt it. But I still hope it! :p

The bottom line, the fact that he said "About 3 minutes" means it's not an exact limit rule. Meaning, it PROBABLY depends on memory space, meaning, you can probably record longer matches with SD cards. There's also the SD card button.

Now when you get this on an SD card, I'm guessing it's either just game code like Halo 3 which is only readable on Wiis, or it is recorded in like MPEG format that can be viewed like video.

I wonder if the old music will stay?
Highly doubt that much, I don't think the Melee music was that great for Target Practice anyways...

Regardless, Brawl better record matches by plotting coordinates like Halo 3 does so the "videos" aren't humongous.
