Plainview, eh? That's not too much farther. If I ever have a free weekend, I could see about making a trip up.

Well I know that this weekend is a holiday weekend but I may be going to Corpus. If not, I can see if I can make some excuse to go to Lubbock.

If anyone wants to play my friend CJ from Dallas, he's in town. He plays Diddy and he's not bad.

JRA you should come up to tech to play tomorrow, and bring CJ and julias as well :)

anyone have any suggestions as for where specifically we should have it? If not we can just do it same place, gates hall study lounge 2nd floor.

FYI I plan on having melee/brawl, and I'll use my setup for brawl and melee.

This is happening today? I'll probably be pretty busy today and tomorrow since we are going to be moving a lot of **** to the new house. I did play a little Melee and Brawl when CJ was in town, though. Man I have lost so much of the ability to combo on Melee. I want my Captain Falcon combos back =(.

Hey Ryan (Abella), here's something you might find interesting:

http://www.youtube.com/user/Glavenopolis

She plays a lot of game music by ear; I'm sure you'll recognize some of the stuff she plays.

On topic:
We actually had enough people come to deem two setups necessary. (one Brawl one Melee)
Sorry we didn't play with you much, Jeff.

Hey thanks Adam! I'm glad you posted that. Plus she's easier on the eyes, unlike a lot of piano people on YouTube =D.

So what have you been doing Adam? It seems you're at least still interested in piano =D.

Hey both Ryans and anyone else Shawn and I are going out of town Feb. 6th & 7th, but on the way back Sunday the 8th we are driving through Lubbock anyone gonna be willing to Brawl? Shawn would probably like Melee, but I wanna Brawl Felix, Ryan, Adam, Raiken <_< correct if I am wrong. Also anyone see Roy lose to Azen?

Ryan (Abella) Hey I was looking at some forums where they said it is better do an air attack than to airdodge when knocked off that air dodge is useless and that doing a f-air espicaly with Snake is more effective true or not?

I have a discussion class at 5, but I'm not sure if I'm going to it or not. It depends on whether the guy I do homework with is going.

I should know by around 4-5 if I'm going.

I'd say at lower levels air dodging is effective because some of those players like to attack. When people starting waiting to punish the airdodge, then you might as well attack. I think the bigger thing to pay attention to is the timing of the airdodge / attack (your choice). If you whiff, you are going to get punished, but if you can anticipate when they are going to attack, your airdodge / aerial attack will benefit you.

Yay internet is back up =). Oh and I guess I can play when you guys drive through Lubbock.

I can play on the 7th, but what time are you driving through Lubbock on the 6th? I have an exam that day.

EDIT: Link me to Roy VS Azen?

@sefe - sure sounds good. I can try to get a smashfest together, or maybe even a tournament who knows.

@yumcha - alright sounds good. call me or post or something when you find out and then I'll try and call people to see who is available.

I agree with you ryan. once your opponent begins waiting on the air dodge (so that you whiff air dodge then they attack you), that is when you have to come to realize your options when in the air, and that you are really limited to doing an attack or dodging. air dodge is still a very good choice for a lot of different reasons. you shouldn't limit yourself to only attacking in the air or only air dodging to recover, your goal should be to use everything you can to your advantage in the least predictable way possible while reading your opponents moves as best you can.

in some ways doing an attack can even be thought of as a shield, that is if you know when you expect your opponent to attack. (I mention this to be thought of as a third option in the air sort of (works as an option on the ground as well though), so you can attack, air dodge, or use an attack with the purpose of canceling out another attack) often times with fox in melee I'll put out an utilt in anticipation of an attack so I can cancel it out instead of putting up my sheild. in the same way you could put out an attack (depending on the character and the attack, fox utilt in melee is disjointed and high priority which is why I opt to use it sometimes in the way I described). so with characters like Lucario in brawl, you can think of it in the same way. his fsmash or dair both have huge disjointed hitboxes that can be used specifically to cancel out attacks.

Oh, I have no idea... I do both of them, but I haven't tested at all which would work better. For Snake I'd say the f-air would help. Aerials that change your momentum (like Rob's b-air) pop up in my mind. I can't think of any more at the moment.

snake fair and dair are good for di but airdodge is good sometimes too. just depends. for rob that is dair or bair and sometimes airdodge. again just depends.

edit: we're playing melee at andrew's, give me a call if you want to play.

As far as i know there is no difference between air dodging and attacking for DI, unless the attacks change momentum. Even still not all the momentum-changing ones help with DI...

Hey, do you all play Brawl often? I live at Bledsoe, if you want to play at Sneed or something let me know. My name's Alex, I've been to a couple of tournaments here at Tech and to the Midnight Gaming tourneys too.
