For more data, Smash 64 characters have an average score of 53.75 votes, while those from Melee have 37.79 (or 51.3 in counting only SSB4 survivors, including Mewtwo), those from Brawl have 46.44 (or 50.69 for SSB4 survivors), and those from SSB4 have 47.86. The average number of votes for each character is 47.88, or 50.76 if not counting cut characters. We can also notice that older characters are in average more popular than new characters.
In general, people who took my poll were mostly anti-cut, as proven by the scores cut characters managed to hit. For example, Wolf has a score higher than the average, and Lucas got a respectably high score as well. Even Squirtle and Ivysaur managed to hit the 40% benchmark despite them being less missed. On the other hand, people don't care very much about transformation characters at this point, as the concept was beaten by every single character including Young Link and Pichu. Another thing interesting to note, the upcoming returning character Mewtwo thanks to DLC is very popular and on par with many high-ranked long-time veterans. I hope he will eventually become a prioritized Smash staple in the future, because I don't want to see confusion and butthurt in the community about him being cut... again <_<
At this point though I don't think I can really draw many conclusions, so I'd like to see more votes for more accurate and exploitable results!
