Have any of you guys heard about "Mii Rules"? In a Iwata Asks for Wii Party, Iwata implied that "Mii Rules" were a strict code of regulations that must be met when proposing to implement Mii playability within a game. Smash is a T rated fighting game, and I could foresee some really F'd up things that could be a consequence of implementing Miis. For example, what if someone used their Mii to beat the crap out of a Mii of a person they hated, and then uploaded it to Youtube for the world to see? I could see Nintendo receiving a lot of bad press for something like that, and for this reason, I think that Miis will NOT be implemented into Smash.

I believe this was touched on earlier in the Roster Prediction Discussion thread.
Smash's rating in Japan is essentially E. I think Iwata meant things more like drowning or melting in lava, more like the character dying rather than them getting beat up. I mean they have no problem have them fight each other in Wii Boxing and Jousting.
I'm sure Miis in Smash wouldn't break any of the "Mii Rules".

So has anyone else tried any of the new Streetpass Mii Plaza games? I see a lot more moveset potential and I think the Streetpass Mii Plaza might end up being a stage for the 3DS Version.

After trying the new Streetpass Games, especially the mansion one, I'm more open to the idea of a playable Mii. Gives him the specter gun, swords, spells from Find Mii, and various other techniques from Mii/Wii related games.

Mii's are not doing well in Rate Their Chances.

People see them as likely, but they seem to be hated. What do Mii supporters think about this?

Personally I'm just neutral with Mii's. I don't love them, but I don't hate them either.

I won't really care much if they did make it into smash and it won't be the end of the world for me.

But that's just my opinion really.

I'm all for it. At first I was iffy, but now after seeing all the new games in Streetpass Plaza, It looks like a great idea.
Ray guns, Swords, Spells, Spears, Bows, Spaceships, and an army for your final smash. Color me a supporter

I agree.... about rumors with no proof.
However this one attained some proof when the Villager, WF Trainer and Megaman were confirmed.
Still room for some doubt but it seems legitimate.
As I recall, the article only revealed that they had been informed about Villager, WFT and Mega Man after the reveal trailers. They claimed they did not publish the information beforehand because they couldn't confirm the validity of their source. It's certainly something to consider, but by no means concrete evidence.

plus the villager already took up miis moveset potential
Not really....no he didn't. But he possibly took up the "CUSTOMIZATION" part though.

Mii's have many other options then what the Villager does. (Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Party, Wii Play, etc all show this)

See, this seems like a reasonable inclusion to me, but since Villager was revealed it just seems less likely to me now.
Not that I particularly want this character.

The only problems that I can find with Miis being playable in SSB4 is:

1) Unless the Mii characters have a set size for each different face, etc, then it would be hard to implement all the different heights of the character. Basically some people's Miis have different heights than others.

2) Having the endless possibilities of the multitude of faces being workable in the game might take up a lot of data.

tl;dr 1) Mii's different heights would mean different hit boxes unless a set height is given. 2) The faces would need to be added in order for them to work on the game itself.

That could be a problem for the 3DS, but that's not a problem on the Wii U.

I like how your tl:dr is almost as long as the original points.

That could be a problem for the 3DS, but that's not a problem on the Wii U.
The problem would probably be none existant on the Wii U, but because the rosters will be the same, then the characters must be able to work for both systems.

Wuhu Island is in the background of the Pilot Wings state. My bet is that the plane you fight on will drop you off on Wuhu Island. Wii Sports takes place on Wuhu, as does Pilot Wings, Wii Fit cycling, and a Stage in Mariokart... all of those games have Miis as playable characters. Therefore, I really believe that Miis are a LOCK for a character addition to SSB4.

I'd love to see a Mii... but if they take up a spot for more important Characters... They would have to move over.

what if Miis were a Charade (soul calibur) like character?

They would basically be a random character option, except it's got someone face pasted on it.
It would not take that much development, not enough for a character. They would only get the things they need from a character (like a buster arm from Mega Man or a shell from Bowser)
Or they could even just take on the forms of the original 12 to make it easier.

This wouldn't actually take up much data at all. They don't have to model every single potential Mii face structure in SSB. At most, all that would be required are models of the pre-existing facial features such as hair shapes and noses and things. The game would then just read from the system how to construct the characters' faces.

Hmm...that does make it sound more do-able, but what about the Mii character's height and what not? Or would there be a predetermined height for all Mii characters?

Basically look at how Mario Kart Wii dealt with it.
Hmmm, well, weight isn't as difficult to balance in Mario Kart.

I think they'd probably have to just make every Mii the same size. It's not that big of a deal, they do it in Nintendo Land. If they wanted they could give Mii some kind of costume instead of the standard clothing as well. They're already going to have to give it color swaps for teams and such.

Otherwise they'd have to balance the Mii character at several different weights and sizes, which is a lot of work for something not very important.
You know why I like this thread? It's the only one with a normal name.
You're right, it should be renamed something like...

"Mii First and the Gimmii-Gimmiiis!"

"Mii, Miiself and ii"

"Enough about U, let's talk about Mii!"

Except that sakurai doesn't like taking away what makes each character unique. He said he doesn't want to give them costume changes like hats/glasses/etc because he doesn't want the characters to feel less like themselves. Miis already have a lot of stuff to use on their own anyways and I am sure some sort of customization gimmick would be implemented (Maybe like a choice of 6 moveset styles or something or it calculates the speed/damage of each attack based on the facial proportions being more normal (To punish inappropriate mii makers))

Okay, Miis are bad. Miis shouldn't be in SSB4. Miis are in casual games, and casual games are bad, m'kay? You shouldn't play casual games, cuz casual games are bad. You shouldn't support Miis cuz they're bad. If you do you then you're bad, cuz Miis are bad, m'kay? So don't support Miis, m'kay?

Sounds very reasonable. I don't see anything holding back Mii characters for SSB4 except for their position on the priority list, possible roster limit, and the game's deadline.
There is Sakurai's dislike for them calling them gimmicky, but He could always change his mind.. (So glad we got villager haha.)

When you say "them calling them gimmicky" do you mean Sakurai calling them gimmicky, or that they are usually called by other people?

He stated somewhere the reason they were not in Brawl was because he saw them as gimmicky. Of course now they are continuously used console to console he may have changed his mind.

I don't recall Sakurai saying that, only that they are "too casual" or something along those lines... Could have gotten my info wrong though. Is there a source of that? :/

That could be it because my google searches turn up really stupid stuff. So either it got buried or gimmick was not the right word.
