The MD/VA Online Smash Community Poker Thread

So I got really high and had an idea (shocking).

I know a lot of us from the region (off the top of my head alone theres myself, greg, hat, travis, chu, chillin and im sure theres tons more) who love to play poker. The thing is getting all in one place, getting chips together, passing the dealer chip, blahblahblah it gets old.

Also paying for poker online is a ****ing *****, they don't even take straight credit cards because the laws for gambling are really gay.

So why don't we just play online on pokerstars free accounts in rooms just by ourselves? Use smashboards or any other forum as a means of setting poker days up where everyone will show with a predetermined monetary value. For example

Time: Wednesday 10/29 at 10:00PM

Money Amount: $5

Buy-In's?: 1

Attending Players: (players, players, players)


Etc, etc with whatever details need to be worked out.

If a player participates in a game, they MUST pay at the next tournament attended. If you are not a regular tournament attendee, you can't join. If someone plays once and doesn't pay up next time, they can never play again++will be shunned by the entire md/va smash community for being a douche (i expect HAT to be the first to infringe upon this rule).

The payouts could be for top 2 players or whatever, it just all has to be determined online through a third party forum (probably a thread here).

If there is interest I would have no problem starting this and taking command and keeping a very updated organized list and stuff, and the smash community seems like it would be a great way for smashers who love to play poker to do both :D

Playing online gets old. I used to do it all the time, but staring at a computer screen for hours playing poker wears you down. Besides, you don't get the **** talk and ability to read your opponents in real life when you play online.

I'm pretty sure I'm better than all of you in poker, so how's about we get a game in REAL LIFE going at a smashfest. I'll take heads up matches against any of you for virtually any amount. A cash game would be perfect so you can be dealt out of hands at any time to go play a tourny match and you can cash out whenever you like.

We play in person from time to time, you can play sometime with us im sure, and we would see then.

Thats not what this is about though, it would be all the time just select tournaments of 7-8 people on like random weekday nights when we are all bored as **** and CANT get together in person.

Ya see, I would be up for this except I'm not comfortable with people owing me money from a fake online tourny. You've already even stated that Hat will break the rule of payment at the next tourny he's at so I'm not even going to bother.

Everyone's going to be at Chu's Halloween biweekly right? Let's get a game going then. We can do it after everyone who's not dressed up gets kicked out. Or, really early before teams if you like. Poker in person is just WAY more interesting.

****, I won't be there at Chu's, otherwise I would join :/. And really, I agree about online poker. It just isn't nowhere near as fun, nor can you give people fake tells or read people. Though the real problem for a game of poker after crews is time... Chu will have to let you guys stay pretty late, don't you think?
