tbh fam I personally think that as long as she ain't in a sexy pose it'll pass. I mean, there's ZSS and Wii Fit, and they're both curvy.

The best approach for Shantae merchandise of any kind to avoid "being offensive" to the general public is selling it at a comic book or anime store.

Online geek/gaming stores also are a good method.

Quiet's pretty tame in comparison to the rest of the MGS series. And there... is a given story reason for her looking like that.

If you bought the first game and it's a little too aged for your tastes, please give the second game, Risky's Revenge, a shot as well.

RR is very cheap and short, the gameplay and graphics are obviously way more polished, and it'd give newcomers to the series a far better idea of what to expect overall from future games.

There's a load of factors, some obvious and some people don't even bother looking up for some reason.
She's all in all very pleasing to the eyes (take that as you will), and has quite the story behind her (mainly WayForward), alongside being an indie (in the sense that it's independent, and not so much as some cheapo, modern "indie") that has the most loyalty to Nintendo, dating back from the GBC, and it's only recently that her games have been on other consoles. Even then they're still on Nintendo first.

Her games are great to the bone, even if they're a tad brutal at times. Great music, great visuals, and (mostly, depending on which game you play) tight controls and gameplay. Even if it's in that Metroidvania style of thing, it's as original as it gets, and for Smash there's so much you can work off of with her.

Which Shantae game did you download? Pirate's Curse, I assume?

Oh yeah, and if you're into that PC stuff, she's a strong, female, 'Arabian' protag who don't need no man. even then she still ticks off some PC guys, but let's not get too deep into that.

Bayonetta's hype dropped like a rock within weeks, so yeah. :T

I love Bayonetta, but I couldn't bring myself to vote for her. She just does not fit in Smash Bros. Even next to the more realistic style characters like Link or the FE characters, she looks out of place. Shantae, on the other hand, would not.

And I just had an urge to see Shantae playing with the Duck Hunt duo. That could approach critical cuteness levels.

Just downloading the update on 3DS (I'll get a Wii U I swear). Dunk Hunt and Mario Maker stages should be fun. And we're really getting up to the end of the ballot guys. Where did all the time go?

Other random things I thought about more potential attacks if Shantae got in:

First being the possible inclusion of the schimitar boot dash for PC, and how it would work in the same way. Basically with running around, it can come up and you get the invincible dash attack. Obviously it could maybe need the same amount of time to build up like in PC, but was just thinking that'd be unique, though there should be a way to cancel it if you don't wanna use it.

Other thing I randomly thought of was Smash Attacks again. Like, I still think it'd be cool if the charge animations were the dances if they went that route, but depending on how long you charge, you get a different smash attack. Like, do only the first part, and she doesn't transform, but charge until the second dance and she'll transform for a stronger smash.

Though since all the first dances are the same, that might be really odd unless they made them different enough. Just random thoughts.

Just played Super Mario Maker Stage and I have to say I really enjoy it. The return of the Pirate Ship from Brawl is a great welcome. Created 2 Mii Swordfighters using one male for Rathos' armor and one female for Viridi's outfit.

Like Mega Man, her overall design will most likely be based on her sprite. So the Smashified version comes to mind.
