Meanwhile I'm at home trying to improve my Xander Mobus impression announcing Shantae in Smash. But I hate the sound of my own voice >.<

I understand you're excited, but please do not do that in caps. It can be considered spam, and that's not allowed here.SHANTAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Sorryyy I'm just extremely hype to see so many supporters. XD

Also; still nothing new from the Japanese Smash Bros Twitter or Sakurai. I am however, still hoping for an update from them later today.
It's ok. I understand what you mean;Sorryyy I'm just extremely hype to see so many supporters. XD
It's pretty sad to watch people claim that the gender imbalance is somehow completely fixed now. Here's what they're missing: Five of the females in the series are basically princesses (or come across as representing that archetype). You know, the usual "Damsel-In-Distress" character type that everyone is tired of?I used Shantae being a new female protagonist as a reason in a discussion, and someone just completely changed what I said.
Me:" Samus has been the only female character who stars in her own franchise since the debut of Smash Bros in 1999."
Them: "This isn't 1999 anymore. Smash has a lot of female characters."
Did everyone just forget what "protagonist" means?
I'm gonna break down what I'm talking about for you newcomers to the thread or guests who're on the edge of being a Shantae supporter (you know who you are):
-Take the entire roster
-Break it down to all the characters who are the protagonist of their own franchise (Or at least 2+ games)
,,,, /,,,,, /, ,, and
Okay, now let's seperate them by gender.
Male:,,,,,,,, /, ,,
Females: /
Does anybody see my point yet?
Hm, as you brought up before, I think a Freedom Planet/Shantae crossover would be more hype.(give us a crossover game plz)

Or a 4-Way "Nindie" Girls crossover game supported by Nintendo starring Shantae, Lilac, Giana, and the princess from Chariot.Hm, as you brought up before, I think a Freedom Planet/Shantae crossover would be more hype.
Well, maybe "hype" is pushing it considering how much more popular SK is compared to FP, but still.
Easy there, there's nothing wrong with damsel-in-distresses and not everyone is tired of them. Now, no character should be added just to fix a "gender imbalance", but ofc it would definitely be nice to see not just females, but female leads. I'm a Shantae supporter, but I want to see her get in on her own merits, not just because she's female. It's pretty sad to watch people claim that the gender imbalance is somehow completely fixed now. She does have her own qualities and good reasons to be in Smash (I can name plenty), but in a time where diversity in media matters, Shantae being a protagonist certainly plays a large part.Easy there, there's nothing wrong with damsel-in-distresses and not everyone is tired of them. I... wasn't speaking literally for "everyone". I'm referring to how one of the primary causes of people (vocal minorities or not; though hopefully the former) crying sexism at gaming is how there's almost always been a "Save the Princess" scenario and the hero is a man.Easy there, there's nothing wrong with damsel-in-distresses and not everyone is tired of them. Bayonetta's hype dropped like a rock within weeks, so yeah. :TThat is true. Apart from Samus and her ZS counterpart, Smash has no other female protagonist in it's roster.
Kind of sad when you think about it. That is why Shantae NEEDS to be part of the DLC of the Smash Ballot. She is the only female protagonist that is on the top list of almost everyones wish list. I think?
That looks very nice. Japan is SOO lucky to get a physical copy of Pirate's Curse.View attachment 75698

That reminds me of an idea I had to draw Shantae as Batman and Rottytops as Robin.
Aww, how adorable. Very nice, great job. :3So guys, what do you think of my fan art I made recently. I hope you like it
LOLOLOL So true. Shantae and her friends can easily blend in for Japan lol.So guys, what do you think of my fan art I made recently. I hope you like it
I remember seeing some ads and a review of pirates curse in otaku USA magazineOut of all the western characters being voted, Shantae would most likely recieve very little backlash from Japan if she got in Smash. (Unlike Little Mac, who got in, and Shovel Knight, who people want in)
Along with Pirate's Curse getting released in Japan, she's a character that'll be easily appealing to Japanese gamers, especially the "otaku" crowd.View attachment 75706(From Linzbot)
cuz she kawaii

Nice Mii!I just wanna play a POC female in Smash that isn't my Garnet Mii lol, is that too much to ask?
Which btw looks like this:
Well it did a while ago I edited it recently so the visor covered a little more of the face, but eh?
She's my favoriteI honestly feel that Rottytops will be Japan's favorite character.View attachment 75712I don't know why, it's just a feeling.
(I'm sure people will love a cute zombie girl, especially with how popular zombies are now )
You mispelled Bran-Son.My favorite is the genie herself! Followed by that handsome beast Barracuda Joe.
nO DON'T DO ONE RIGHT BEFORE THE BALLOT ENDSNot Shantae related but a new Smashified video was posted. They are doing Dixie Kong.
