There was a problem fetching the tweet

Name a release date and my wallet will spring wide open whether it wants to or not
THE MIGHTY GODS HAVE HEARD OUR PRAYERS

I said to myself that I will not buy anymore Amiibo until a Shantae Amiibo happens.

On a serious note, there's a tiny hurdle to jump over: If you're a 3rd party that wants an Amiibo, you may need another company to make it, as apparently, Shovel Knight's Amiibo was manufactured by a different company, compared to the one that Nintendo use for their Amiibo.

Hey guys! I need some help.

I saw the trailer for the Smash Bros. Crusade update, and noticed a lot of Shantae positivity in the comments below.
A guy by the name of 5th Kie (The rest of his name has ... so I'm assuming that his full YouTube name is "5th Kie...") made this comment:
"SHANTAE MOTHER*******!!!!! FIRST CRUSADE, THEN FOR WII U!!!! #VoteForShantae #ShantaeForSmash"
I joined the hype band wagon, but a couple comments later, some guy shows up and starts blasting us for supporting Shantae. Now, YouTube has been very buggy recently, with comments disappearing and reappearing at random. I've been fending off his arguments (Which have been very bad, but he doesn't seem to think so) but he's really starting to wear me down.
Another thing is that his grammar is very, very bad. I'm not normally a grammar nazi, but this guy is going to kill me.

This was his most recent comment (In response to me generally saying that he should slow down when he types, and that he should stop arguing because I've basically debunked his arguments. He also believes that I've somehow been deleting his comments because I'm scared of him.)

"+Mighty Minotaur lol you talk about my grammar when your grammar alone is ****.You didn't debunked anything instead of showing foolish comment and avoiding most of my comments.1 if you would have debunked anything then you wouldn't been scared to ask for my comments to be deleted but hey,i couldn't expect less from peoples who likes stupid characters lol.I proved your comments are invalid i have the satisfaction .Hell wasted enough time of my life with scared peoples"

I would greatly appreciate help ASAP. Here's the link. (Just scroll down through the comments, you'll know it when you see it.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7HUkK67JFE
If you don't have a YouTube account, I would greatly appreciate some advice on what to do with this guy. Thanks!
I fully support what @Mighty Minotaur is saying on the comment section. He is a really good guy, and I appreciate his support for Shantae. Please make sure that you follow him, because he is a rue Shantae fan! Also, don't forget to follow me too!

I need help:

Apparently, someone decided to argue with me saying that Wayforward has done NOTHING to help Nintendo with, and said Nintendo was helping them the whole time. Acting like Wayforward is helpless, and just there doing nothing. He's NOT a Shantae hater, don't worry. But he decided to bug me and act like I'm some idiot (or some 10 year old). He was even saying that GOKU has a better chance -_-

So I need someone to help me with Wayforward's history when it comes to Nintendo. Yes, I know that they LOVE Nintendo and all, but I need more of their backstory, so I can shut this guy up. >_<

Answer.

Shantae 1 was supported by Capcom.

That is all.

And I believe her games and many other Wayforward products was mainly by their own hands, not Nintendo's.

Tell him to do research.

To be honest, if the game was made by Nintendo's own hands, we probably wouldn't even be having this discussion right now.

It be considered a first party, and she would probably would have already ended up in the roster by now.. lol XD

another thing, that guy blitz mentioned sounds like a troll to me.. only a troll would come up with something hilarious like that... either that, or a moron.

Basically put, if Nintendo had been helping them the entire time... "where" are they? Where is this support? What happened to all of those cancelled Shantae concepts?... If Nintendo "really" had been helping them, Shantae would be considered a full on first party (or second, whatever).. and for that matter, many of the cancelled games would have seen the light of day.. (they probably never did, because Wayforward is considered an INDIE DEVELOPER... (The very definition states "video games (commonly referred to as indie games) created by individuals or small teams generally without video game publisher financial support. Indie games often focus on innovation and rely on digital distribution.)

As for Goku, He was created outside of the game industry.. his origin was outside of a video game (which is practically the only rule for the ballot to begin with XD)..

Considering Shantae originated in a video game, and adding up all of the other things she has going for her... yeah. I wonder who "really" has more of a chance.. >_>

Well, not exactly, unless Wayforward was owned by Nintendo, making it either 1st or 2nd party at least. But I get what you mean, I was thinking the same thing anyways.

Uh, I'm pretty sure if Nintendo was helping them the whole time, Shantae would have to be legally considered a second party character.

Anyway, the thing that Wayforward has done that no other company has for Nintendo is release the best and highest selling games of their online shops. It's pretty easy to see that Wayforward were the ones who kicked off more high quality independent games for the handhelds.

Ok.. so steering away from that, just to get a topic going..

What is the dumbest/most ridiculous argument you have heard against a character campaign you like (including this one)?

It's pretty much just gonna be Shantae and a tie between "too risque for the game" and "is indie" for me

I posted a comment on IGN saying Isaac (from Golden Sun) for Smash. Some guy responded to me saying that he doesn't deserve to be in because we don't need no more Fire Emblem characters :/

Ridley's too big for Smash.

But if I had to keep it Shantae, too much of a "sex object" for Smash, despite this and this being in the game.

A part of me is regretting pledging myself to the PS4 version of Half Genie Hero now that a bigger possibility of a Shantae amiibo has arisen.
But eh, I double dip on WayForward games so many times anyway :colorful:

Rayman shouldn't be in Smash because he's more of a Sony character. I've literally heard people say this.

In terms of Shantae, I'm going to go with the obvious "she's too sexy to be in Smash" argument.

You know I think what makes Shantae kind of a notch above those examples is that, well, she actually seems to be enjoying herself and having fun when she's ""sexy""

I'm so used to the bland, stone dead, emotionless faces of characters who are clearly just there for sex appeal. ZSS has atrocious posing, yeah, but even one subtle smile during an animation could've made her at least feel close to a person and not this oddly bendable doll. Shulk kind of but not really because he was animated with actual clothes in mind.

Shantae is always smiling and being playful while she's dancing, it makes it easier to see her in those clothes because 1. They're really not that bad when you think about it, and 2. It feels like she's enjoying herself just as much as anyone who could be watching. And besides, it's innocent anyway. It's certainly not on a level like *shudders* that new R. Mika...

This is the stupidest argument I remember WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BACK after Smash 4 was announced at E3 2011:

"Shantae never appeared on any Nintendo systems ! Plus she wouldn't fit with the likes of Mario besides Goku or Naruto are better and would make it in before her !"

I've never face palmed so bad infact I double handed facepalmed XD

What a silly argument. WayForward and Nintendo are both companies driven by profit, which operate in their own interests. Neither one of them is a charity. That being said, WayForward has consistently focused on developing games for Nintendo systems when they could easily have prioritized other consoles or Steam instead (as a lot of companies have). They have contributed a lot of high quality, exclusive content to Nintendo's eshop over the years. So clearly Nintendo is also benefiting from WayForward. WayForward has also benefited from Nintendo providing them a good set of platforms to develop for. That is why WayForward and Nintendo have such a good relationship with each other. They have been very good to each other over the years. They have a history worth recognizing.

That's about all the history I know of them, but frankly that ought to be enough. If you want more you can look at how many of their games started as Nintendo-exclusive offerings. I know Mighty Switch Force did.

The statement that Goku has a better chance is totally moronic. Sakurai has stated explicitly that the ballot is for videogame characters only, and Nintendo has clarified that any videogame character is a valid entry. So Goku isn't even a valid vote, whereas Shantae is.

But his point of course is really that Shantae is very unlikely. He has a lot of work to do to back that up though, because on the face of it Shantae looks like a front runner. She is one of the most popular characters in the ballot, as measured by pretty much every online poll in the last two months. She has a long history with Nintendo and has appeared first and foremost on Nintendo through the entirety of it. She would represent the indie scene which Nintendo has been pushing on its consoles. Plus her games are critically acclaimed, full of personality, and absolutely dripping with potential for cool movesets. If you are going to say a character like that has no chance, you better have some ironclad evidence. Of course, no such evidence exists. He is going to need to provide an argument for thinking a character with that much going for her has such awful chances. The fact is that nobody really has a reliable way of estimating a character's chances, so by the mere fact that he is so confident that Shantae won't get in, we can be sure that his reasoning is flawed. To point out the exact flaws would require knowing more about his reasoning.

Thank you, everyone. I really learned a lot today. Sorry I had to bring it up in the first place.

As for the guy I mentioned, he pretty much left. While it was unnecessary for him to butt in and say that "Wayforward is a helpless company", he at least admitted he also wanted Shantae in Smash. Not as much as us, but still.

And we're getting close to the end, so let's keep supporting! Even if she doesn't make it in, let's at least hope a Shantae Amiibo happens!

Dumbest arguments against a character I like?

"Shantae is too slutty for Smash" even if no one but a total prude would think Shantae is inappropriate. We already have ZSS and Shulk. Grow up. Deal with it. This isn't Bayonetta here.

"K. Rool would be garbage tier" because every character needs to be Melee Fox or Brawl Meta Knight. If K. Rool is a projectile/trap based character like Snake, like everyone wants and asks in the ballot section, he has a good shot at being mid or even high tier.

I would say "Mii Costume deconfirms K. Rool" but I can't say for sure what their reasoning behind that is, but the "trash tier" one takes the cake on dumbest arguments against K. Rool.

And basically Sakurai's entire address on Ridley.

Because Ridley is down for the count, I'm counting on either K. Rool and/or Shantae to make it in Smash, the characters I actually voted for. I also want Wolf in, because he should have been in already along with Lucas (still can't believe Roy got in but not Wolf).

Here's a paraphrased version of Wayforward's history of titles made for Nintendo, and Shantae's history.

Wayforward has been making games since the start of the SNES era. While their first few games started on PC with the "WayForward fun pack", they later started to develop games together for the Game Boy and SNES. Believe it or not, for liscensed games, Wayforward had a suprising start, taking on some of the biggest names in media, like the Muppets and Mickey Mouse. Matt seemed to most excited about getting games he made for the Game Boy and SNES on the shelves, seated next to Super Mario World and Tetris.

Matt Bozon was in college around this time, with Wayforward being somewhat of a part time job. Erin, who was his fiance at that time, came up with an idea for a Video Game character: A genie girl who uses her long hair as a whip, and can dance to summon up magic, which she later trusted with Matt. (In Nintendo Power, Matt jokingly claims that their marrige was based on the act of trust that was Erin passing down Shantae to him. :p)

Liscensed title after liscensed title, Wayforward was hard at work, and Matt really wanted to get Shantae going. There were many design pitches, one for the SNES, PC, Playstation... But almost every time, they got the exact same response: Video Games starring female characters don't sell well. What a shame, really. This was shortly before Tomb Raider made it's debut, and sold like hotcakes.

Around the Game Boy Color era, Wayforward had a bit more money to burn, and started to make original titles like Xtreme Sports, which was recieved quite well. They later decided to finally make a full Shantae title, to be released on the system. (Erin Bozon, now married to Matt and recently came back from animating the first few season of Futarama, also helped with the game. She actually animated the sequence where Shantae enters a building in the towns.)

Published by Capcom (with the rights being bought back to continue the series later), Shantae did extremely well critically, being considering one of the best games on the GBC, as it pushed the system to it's limits. However, it didn't sell very well, as it was released too late in the system's lifecycle.

Wayforward continued developing games (one of those original titles being Sigma Star Saga for the GBA), which I eventually want to play), they tried a few more times to make a sequel for Shantae, and they were all on Nintendo platforms. There was the cancelled GBA title, a full 3D game for the Gamecube (which was shortly canned), and Wayforward even tried to make a sequel for the Wii. The only original game Wayforward made for the Wii was LIT, which was... Okay.

However, this story has a happy ending. When Nintendo started up DSiWare, Wayforward fully realized that they could self-publish games onto the system, and got to work right away, building up a fanbase through Mighty Flip Champs, Milky Way, and most importantly: The incredible amount of love and support from Nintendo Power!
And there is was: Risky's Revenge. Released for the DSiWare service, it was also critically acclaimed, and considering one of the greatest games to come out on the DSi.

With the release of the Wii U and 3DS, Wayforward decided to keep the ball rolling. Mighty Switch Force was one of the first games made for the 3DS eShop, and also became a hit, getting an upgraded version for Wii U, and a sequel... And do I even need to bring up Ducktales Remastered? Remaking one of the best games on the NES library? It also got an award for one of the best titles for the eShop upon releasing for the Wii U. But what did this mean for Shantae? ... A lot.

Now, with Wayforward's widespread recognition across the gaming community, Shantae came back with full force. Pirate's Curse was revealed on Nintendo Power, and was so big that it actually was a cover story! (If you were subscribed, anyway.) The Half-Genie Hero kickstarter came along, too, which got Shantae new fans, and gamers everywhere hyped up for our Half-Genie Hero.

I'll stop here.

Right behind you.
I'll admit I was somewhat worried about Shantae's ballot chances when the Shovel Knight amiibo was revealed, but after seeing that Nintendo was ready and willing to do more third-party and indie amiibo, I realized that my fears were unfounded. If people are already clamouring for Shantae and Quote amiibo after this reveal, then that speaks volumes about their fan following. and as @ conTAgi0n conTAgi0n said a page ago it has completely and utterly shut down all notion of indies having no business or presence with Nintendo - and after having seen that argument so many times, it makes me happier than I can describe to finally have a way to shut them up.

With Shovel Knight's big break comes the chance for Shantae to have hers as well. If ever there was a time to promote the Half-Genie Hero, this is it; get those #Shantae4Smash and #Shantae4Amiibo trends rolling.

Rayman shouldn't be in Smash because he's more of a Sony character. I've literally heard people say this.
The funny part is that Rayman has had more games on Nintendo platforms than any other, mostly on the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance (which had the only good version of Raving Rabbids)

Heck, the original Rayman was almost an SNES game... Yes, I'm going to act like the Atari Jaguar doesn't exist.

I posted the link to the poll itself in the comments, but if he never updates it in the OP, this could turn into a flop.
Yeah I can see the results and with my vote Shantae and SK are tied lol.

EDIT: Actually the tie is between Issac(from The Bindings of Issac) and Shantae. Shovel Knight has two votes so far.

That poll has way too few votes right now for the results to mean anything yet. At a minimum we've gotta wait until the top vote breaks 50, which it may never.

Y'know, Nintendo, a lot of us would've liked another "Nindies@Home" event... More people want to play this than Axiom Verge.
