I know there are vid threads, but I haven't been to a tourny---nor more importantly, haven't posted vids in a LONG time so I wanted to make my own thread, ha ha. Mods may delete if you don't want me taking up space

Anyways I was only able to record 2 sets out of my 5 sets today due to camera dying! But both sets are against great smashers on these boards---Champ, and the deadly BoA.

NOTES:

- BoA matches on the way, those vids are on a different memory stick at the moment so I'll get 'em up tomorrow.

- Camera sucks I'm sorry, but my camera man was standing in a very crowded room, so just pay as much attention to the game as you can.

- Some people tend to only post vids they win in, however I am not doing that. Champ took a round on me, and BoA beat me senseless, but I like posting these vids however because I'm playing for one main reason, and that's to be the best Luigi player I can be. It's the reason I try my best to contribute to our Luigi community when I can...and the reason why I NEVER, and I mean have never switched characters during a match. Even today with my Luigi vs Metaknight, DDD and Marth. I play Luigi, to be the best I can. I'm not there simply to just counterpick. Sorry.

- Today was a great day to be in the community, and a great reason for you guys to also keep up the good work as Luigi. There's only one other professional/regular Luigi player in my area, so when I show up, it's always nice to meet new people (And old friends alike) who have heard good things about me because I represent the man in green.

Lesson here is....don't give up Luigi boards. We may NEVER beat MK/DDD or whoever, but it's not always about that. It's about doing your best, and making others glad to be playing him.

Like I said I met lots of great new people who follow my tourney hops, and I really appreciate the support you guys give me during the matches. Luigi's dash attack is too easy to punish, and doesn't have much knockback, so I don't want to be caught in that attack by mistake. Also, one of the bigger advanced games of Brawl most players don't utilize, is that while you are running you can only turn around by pivoting which can take time.

However, if you're walking, you can instantly dash in the other direction without a pivot animation, so it's insanely faster, and leads to huge mixups. If you watch in one of my vids (I THINK it's the first one vs champ) there's a moment where I walk towards Fox, and as soon as he gets near, I instantly dash the other one and pull an upsmash out. Two birds with one stone---I avoid a near grab/hit, and since Luigi's leans so far back with his upsmash, I catch Fox and whoever I pull it on every now and then.

You can avoid both problems by canceling your dashes with shields. The turn around is just as fast, and you can pull any move out of a dash, not just a DA.

Walking still works out best for me, because if my opponent reads my shielding he'll just grab when I approach (Which happens OFTEN).

Pull any move out of a dash??? You sure? As far as I know I can only usmash, Dash Attack, grab, and of course my specials. Or am I misunderstanding you?

He meant out of a Shield Canceled Dash. I'd love to get used to walking instead of dashing, but I have trouble being gentle. I'm working on it though.

Walking gives the advantage of range of a dsmash because of how low traction's.

Shield cancel dashs are great. You can instantly powershield any projectile or attack as well.

also you can just basically shield cancel dash to a ftilt approach.

I still like walking more, whats the rush . Lol hippie, it seems ftilt is the answer to everything for you xD. Not saying it isn't

It is the answer :3 look at how many shield dash cancels are here espically by boss's mario. He goes into beast mode, with the reverse upairs and bairs, and still powershields.

I think it depends on the situation, but I find walking to be more reliable than shield dash cancel. I find myself to use both in one match though.

One way or another I think it's important to get very comfortable with a shield cancel. Especially for a luigi.

I understand the argument for walking and the dsmash. Mostly to make it less easy to read. But I really think the added speed of dashing really is an advantage.

The Fox looked pretty flexible with his lazers.

The first match, imo i say you need shield cancel dashs. on 2:57, could have been game if you used bthrow instead dthrow but either way you would have won.

I'm not that good anymore since my mind set is on SF4 now. So take this as whatever you like. I got 3rd with edrees in teams if that matters.

The only reason I still play at smash tourneys is to keep the Luigi scene alive because the guy's too great. Other than that...piledrivers all day son. I've got a vid of Alex Valle's Sagat against my Gief on the first day I tried SF4. Too good! THAI GER THAI GER!

i'm not mad at u man. Internet is too hard to see people emotion haha. I have no remorse at losing to you. You are a great player. I just feel that if I knew what Luigi can do to fox, I could have done much better. Why do u think I play cat and mouse after I found out I couldn't combo you haha.

People say crazy stuff about me because I use fox/sheik/falcon. I mean I'm good with them (before I stop playing and start playing SF4) but a good fox/sheik/falcon player is just an average brawl player if you know what I mean =(

Also, yeah I'm glad you hype about SF4. That game is toooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. julian, me, and you should go to AI together soon hehe. I just love how Sagat say Thai-ger KNEE now haha.

This probably sounds really noobish, but WOW, BoA said that about me??? I'm just super shocked because he practically 3 stocked me on his MK. Good ****, tell him thanks for the complement if you see him.

Julian's tight, yeah we should all ride to AI fo sho. We both play Gief, but my advantage is that I've been playing Gief for years, while Julian's been playing Hugo I'm a Super Turbo player btw. I love SF3 don't get me wrong, but I've been playing 2 for what seems like forever.

Oh and Marsulas, SF4 = Street Fighter 4.

I don't want to turn this thread into sf4 discussion (every1 should go play it) so I'm going to stop.
