The Game Awards 2024: All the Winners

The Game Awards 2024 just wrapped up yesterday! As always it was quite a show, featuring a plethora of jokes, music and announcements. And most importantly, the show also revealed which nominees won their category! Here's who won:

Author’s Note: Personally, I think 2024 had a quite a few neat games. And I'm pretty happy with Astro Bot winning, I think all the GOTY nominees were good but Astro Bot and Balatro definitely stick out the most to me. But what do you think? Please let us know in the comments below!

do you ever get the feeling even the people running the awards don't know what these categories mean?

 

Another year of useless awards, cringe music (snoopy doggy) and skits (muppets). The reveals were cool though.

 

Video gaming is genuinely dead. What a soul less corporate fest. Land of shareholders and investment portfolios.

 

Did anyone else find it weird that a singleplayer won Best Family Game? Not that Astro Bot isn't a good game, but you'd think a "family game" should at the very least be a multiplayer game so multiple members of a family can play at the same time, right? Feels more like the "Kid-Friendly" award honestly.

 

Probably one of the better shows to be honest. Astro Bot winning is definitely a big moment. It’s obviously extremely flawed (and geoff keighley has like no personality lol) but it had some good reveals too

Constantly. I still remember Dave the Diver being in one of the indie categories last year, which like, yeah it had a small team but it was also a Nexon game. Nexon is definitely not indie and I'm fairly certain the director of it also felt it wasn't indie either. I genuinely think they just assumed it was one because it had pixel art lol.

Yeah, agreed. I think they have a very different idea of what "Best Family Game" means than we do. I also take it as a "best game to play with your family" but they definitely treat it more like it's the kid friendly award like you said. Which is a shame, I'd like to see them make a separate award for a game being for all-ages. Because like, the best couch multiplayer game of the year is absolutely something that should be rewarded at an awards show.

Now that is something they should have checked

 

Nintendo won nothing and revealed nothing welp.

I mean they could have saved the Xenoblade X reveal for this instead of just dropping it in a stand alone video, would have brought lots of exposure to a game that needed it... but I guess they don't give a s*** about this (for better or worse, looks like a lot of people here have strong opinions on it too lol).
