For what it's worth, Reverse Neutral B into B-reversal isn't very difficult without C-stick since most special moves lock air mobility where it is. It just takes a quick flick, muscle memory, and another flick to zip back rapidly. The aerials, buffered rolls and dodges, and DACUS are much more necessary functions for a second analog stick.
I personally wouldn't risk doing a B-Reversal with a space animal, nor with any character that has a sideB that leaves them vulnerable for a good amount of time. It may not be too difficult, but the risk of failing and putting yourself in unnecessary danger sucks pretty bad, which having a second stick circumvents by making it easier to do such techniques.

maybe the controls can be like holding the wii mote alone for brawl but diffrent

L for shield
R for grab
CIRCLE PAD for movement
A for attacks
B for specials
D-PAD for smash attacks
X and Y for taunts like the wiimote and knunchuck

Problem solved

you can also customize your controls so also done

Why did you and Derpy go back in time to resurrect this thread?

Good bye c-stick, we knew thee well

Hopefully have some kind of alternative in the next smash game or something. Like sure, you could learn to flick your control stick back and towards for retreating fairs/bairs, have a monstrous time trying to fast fall and uair at the same time, and forever fail to do a non FF-dair without starting in the middle of a jump (though, come to think of it, Brawl already took that option away, which is kinda dumb LOL).

Actually naw, let's not have c-stick. Too cheap and dumb, why is someone able to flick a yellow nipple and get a smash attack? I'm such a ****ing badass, I use smash attacks by pressing a button too. Oh lordy look at me, pro MLG status right here *******.

N64 controller didn't have a c-stick either. So isn't 3DS the same?

It could be fine so long as the smash attack timing is well implemented and easy to execute even using a 3DS slider. (Hopefully the game makers test the 3DS controls exhaustively.) Smash attacks unfortunately are something I never really got the hang of. (At some point while playing Brawl I actually forgot that smash attacks even existed.)

But hopefully the Circle Pad Pro and Circle Pad Pro XL are supported.

Smash 3DS will be casualized like brawl, and I mean that to say it will be floaty and lighter controlling in a way that you probably wont need a second stick. The WiiU version of smash 4 will definitely have better options.

So help me understand this. C-stick is used to do smash attacks. But smash attacks can be charged up by holding down the A button, right? If that's true then how can you charge up smash attacks using C-stick?

Smash attacks can be charged up in both ways. Just like the X and Y buttons can also be used to jump. Have you never seen the controls in-game?

How can it be charged up with C -stick?
The only way I can see that working is if smash attack only happens once you let go of the C-stick. So I will assume that's how it works.

This would be a good opportunity for Nintendo to bring CPP XL over to the west.
You could even bundle the game with it although that would be just a little odd.

Yeah, that is how it works. If you hold the C-stick in a particular direction, the corresponding smash attack is charged. The character releases the smash attack once you release the C-stick.

The D-pad could either be used for taunts, or for smash attacks. If they went for smash attack though, taunting wouldn't be possible. Although they really shouldn't focus on competitive for the 3DS version, so none of this should really matter.

The 3DS version's multiplayer experience likely won't be the same as the Wii U version.

Given the fact that the 3DS doesn't have a second circle pad (unless you buy the Circle Pad Pro), Smash attacks will likely be limited on A + direction.
Of course that I'm expecting that the 3DS versions will support the Circle Pad Pro to have the same amount of buttons as a GCN controller.

The controls on 3DS without Circle Pad Pro will likely be this, as default:
A - Normal, Smash and aerial attacks
B - Special
X or Y - Jump
L or R- Shield
L/R+A - Grab
Circle Pad - Move (Up to jump)
D-pad - Taunts

With the Circle Pad Pro...:
A - Normal, Smash and aerial attacks
B - Special
X or Y - Jump
L or R- Shield
L/R+A or ZL or ZR - Grab
Left Circle Pad - Move
Right Circle Pad - Smash attacks
D-pad - Taunts

Of course, knowing Sakurai's previous two games (Smash Bros. Brawl and Kid Icarus: Uprising), there will likely be an option to customize the controls to your liking.

I could actually see Smash 4 3D having a Smash 64-esque control setup. So it would go something like this:
A - Normals
B - Specials
X/Y - Jump
L - Shield
R - Grab
D-Pad - Taunts

I'm surprised no one has thought of using the touch screen on the 3DS for executable short cuts. Not saying it is the best way to do it, but it's certainly one possible option without packing every 3DS copy of Smash Bros with an add-on. Not to say there cannot be a bundle SKU, but having options is always ideal.

Not being competitive doesn't necessarily mean there shouldn't be options.

If anything there may exist an inverse correlation between competition and options. (i.e. competitive = everyone has to use the same controls) Competitive balance is usually posed by gamers as a reason why console shooters shouldn't have keyboard/mouse support.

On 2nd thought I'm actually not even sure I would get the CPP XL if SSB4 supported it. But either way I should probably be in favor of it, otherwise I would be selfish.

but it's certainly one possible option without packing every 3DS copy of Smash Bros with an add-on.
That would be bad for those who own a CPP already.
I had an idea which was:
- SSB4 3D sold by itself
- either or both: CPP XL sold by itself, or CPP XL bundled with SSB4 3D.

It kind makes sense since most people who have an XL and want CPP XL would probably want SSB4, and vice versa. (The only people who get screwed are those who want CPP XL and don't want SSB4. But those people will have no problem finding someone to sell/trade/give the game to.)

I probably could've worded that better: It shouldn't be focused too much on competitive, but yeah, you're right that there should be options.

You still have two joysticks on the Wii U Controller, so who says that there won't be a C-Stick with it?

They could have four "C buttons" on the touch screen, resembling the C buttons on a N64 controller. These could serve as a replacement for the C-stick.

OF COURSE, that wouldn't stop SSB4 from being compatible with the CPP. Touch screen controls could actually work for both versions of SSB4, thanks to Wii U's gamepad with the touch screen.

I was about to mention that.... I can see that second stick being used as the new c-stick. The touch screen I feel would really **** up one's flow of gameplay.
