The desire to Main MK

So, I recently have been playing a lot of brawl with my buddy East. He happens to be a pretty decent sheik player who I have trouble beating with my current main Zero Suit Samus.... Anyway, to avoid him winning like 80:20, we do random matches on random levels.

When I get MK, I tend to do extremely well and usually win. One day he wondered if I should pick up metaknight as a main character. To be honest, I never even considered him since he is the debated(depending on who you ask) "best character." After thinking about it, I guess it seems like a good idea.

I was wondering what the community here thinks, and yeah I know its ind of a stupid question.

I actually have to change the way i play against zero suit samus. It is annoying.

Even though people may complain that you use MetaKnight, I say if you like to win and you win with metaknight then main him. Or at least use him as a secondary to help with matchups you struggle with, like your friend's sheik. Based on your thread it also looks like you play with Gdub. Gdub has a 60-40 matchup over sheik so you could use him.

If you like the character, go ahead and use him! You have fun? That's what matters most. Yeah, some people will complain. But trust me, you've missed the worst of it! You won't hear Meta-hate too much more than a Melee Fox main nowadays.

Hehe my story is kinda like yours. I used to main ike, then my friend who mained Marth took me out good. I didn't know he even play smash bros. Anyways, I was looking for an anti-Marth type so I remembered that fox was a great player. Used him and got a 50-50 matchup with my friend. But that was not good enough for me. I wanted the "edge". I usually fought on the air with ike (even though he had poor recovery at times ) Fox was a decent character, but was a "ground" type. I also remembered watching some combo videos of certain characters and remembered that Meta Knight had great recovery. So I gave him a try, and BOOM I instantly loved him xD. Now I **** his marth, usually a 75-25 matchup since I know most of his movements :D

Anyways it took me about 2 days to get the feel with MK, so I doubt it would be a problem for you

Lol and for every "weakness" that you'll discover you'll discover 12 strengths probably. XD

Edit: But it is true. Maining MK is the best way to beat him. And not so much because you'll learn his weaknesses, but more because simply MK's best counter is another MK.

I find MK an extremely useful character to know how to play. Plus, he's fun! If you want to, why not?
