I think Bandai Namco is sure to get a second, maybe even third, DLC Rep. if we get two I’m hoping for Lloyd Irving and KOS-MOS.

Now add the Mystic leak and the fact that Lloyd survived the Direct. There's a potential newcomer to whom the following applies:
Newcomer was very popular on the ballot, and received a Mii costume.
This newcomer received considerable support for both Brawl and Smash 4, and did so well on Nintendo's Smash Ballot that he received a Mii costume in the same wave as two other characters that have already been turned into full fighters.
Newcomer's series has an incredibly strong history with Nintendo. (Bestseller, Console bundle.)
This newcomer's original game was one of the best selling games on the Nintendo Gamecube and the Nintendo DS. He also has games on the Nintendo Wii, the Nintendo 3DS, and the SNES. This newcomer's game was so successful that it received its own Gamecube bundle with a console themed after his game.
Newcomer's series has two new mothership titles coming to the Nintendo Switch soon.
The series this newcomer stems from has one game scheduled for release and one game scheduled for reveal within one month of Smash Ultimate's release. Both are likely to be system sellers.
Sakurai has openly said that this newcomer is the undeniable, definitive representative for his series.
In an interview from 2016 - a full year after Smash Ultimate's project plan was finished - Sakurai stated that this newcomer is without a doubt the only real pick to represent his franchise. It also doesn't hurt that this newcomer's game is not only the most successful entry in the series, but also that it was the series' breakthrough entry in the west.
Newcomer's Developers are working with Sakurai, and are openly pushing for Newcomer.
This newcomer's game and series director is part of the Smash Ultimate development team, and is openly pushing Sakurai to include this newcomer and his series. A considerable portion of this newcomer's original development team is also working on Smash Ultimate.
Newcomer comes from a tremendously successful series.
Newcomer's series is one of the most commercially successful and culturally significant properties in its genre, with 25+ million in mothership title sales, and over 2 billion in total franchise sales. Several animes, mangas, movies, audio dramas, and escort titles. Sells tons of merchandise and auxiliary licenses. Series has an annual festival dedicated to it, hosted in soccer stadiums with over 20k annual attendees. Series was considered for a ride at Universal Studios Japan, alongside franchises like Sailor Moon, Final Fantasy, and Detective Conan.
Newcomer is a natural fit for Smash, moveset is already in the game.
The series this newcomer comes from utilizes a combat system that strongly resembles Smash Bros in a number of ways. There are four directional specials, four directional jabs, four directional smashes, taunts, a dodge, and an ultimate attack. This newcomer fits so well that 90% of his moveset is already in the game - the only attacks missing are his side-smash and his ultimate.
Unlike before, Newcomer's voice actor has deliberately and consistently avoided Smash-related questions.
This newcomer's voice actor used to responded to Smash-related questions on social media, both during Brawl and Smash 4's lead up. This has not been the case during the lead up to Smash Ultimate though, as his voice actor has ignored every Smash-related question posed.
Newcomer has several potential gimmicks that could make his gameplay incredibly unique.
There are three different mechanics in this newcomer's original game that could be used to make him incredibly unique - one would essentially give him Cloud's limit bar, but it would fill when hits are landed rather than by charging, one would give him a very unique combo system that amends his regular specials, and one would give him two different modes to fight in, altering his smashes.
For those who haven't guessed it, the newcomer in question is Lloyd Irving.Mii Costume: https://www.ssbwiki.com/Lloyd_Irving

Even though Mystic was incorrect on Isaac and Shadow's status in the game, I think that he probably saw snippets of the two without their names on the bottom and mistakenly believed they were playable since Assist Trophies are acting more like playable characters this time. After all, his list contained Issac, Ken, Shadow, and Incineroar all of whom have a model in the game.I originally posted this on reddit, but here's why I believe that Lloyd has a really solid shot:
Now add the Mystic leak and the fact that Lloyd survived the Direct.
His costume was in We Ski on the Wii, could it not just have been an upres from there?Totally agree, and if you go back, his costume was super detailed, I'd be surprised honestly if they let him go to waste seeing how he wasn't showcased in one bit during that last direct. A Symphonia stage with symphonia music is unreal to think about too. Cmon nintendo, make my boy shine!
Can you find a image of that? I've never heard of his outfit in that game hahahHis costume was in We Ski on the Wii, could it not just have been an upres from there?
It's really funny - this news actually makes me faves MORE likely. Travis, Lloyd, and Phoenix all have games in their series or ports coming soon. Bandana Dee, Captain Toad, and Elma are part of big Nintendo series with popular modern games (and in Elma's case they're looking to make a sequel). Neku just had a remake of his game released. I'm actually hopeful for my chances. So with the latest news about DLC, there's turmoil yet again. Mianly that nintendo is picking the list of proposed fighters for DLC. Lloyd still has a chance.
-Nintendo promoted Symphonia in the West in the past.
-Tales of Vesperia is coming to Switch and all other current platforms in January
-There's still that yet to be announced Tales Switch game, it'll bode well if it's announced soon.
Namco would pick Heihachi but Nintendo probably wouldn't and, if past games are anything to go by, Sakurai would probably veto him anyway. The only thing standing in Lloyd's way is if they'd pick Heihachi instead. Go Lloyd!
If any Tales gets a Switch port, I want one that didn't previously have multiplayer. Like Legendia.I do hope Symphonia gets a Switch port. Hopefully an announcement in that Nintendo Direct Mini rumored to happen on Thursday.
Not gonna lie, I'm won over a bit here. Lloyd's moves are quite flashy and appealing. But I still like the idea of a summoner more than a mere double-swordsman.Hey guys, just wanted to take a moment from your day and showoff this video
I've been working on for the past couple of days. Lloyd is the character I'm pulling for the most when it comes to smash ultimate.
I thought it'd be fun to test myself and try to bring together all the information I had available to make the case on why he's a top contender for one of the 5 DLC spots.
I've never made a video before so I'm totally new to editing and voicing things so im defs open to any and all feedback you guys may have. Feel free to share it as much as you can!
Hope you enjoy the video if you find time to watch it! Thanks!
Glad you gave it a shot, Im rooting for my boy to make it in but in the end im sure ultimate is going to be quiet the game! Not gonna lie, I'm won over a bit here. Lloyd's moves are quite flashy and appealing. But I still like the idea of a summoner more than a mere double-swordsman.
Great video ! I shared it on a FB page, it's a really nice recap of Lloyd's chance and reasons to be in Smash. Nice quality too, especially for a first try.
Really appreciate it, if theres anything that'll be my request, is people sharing it as much as they can. Love getting the word out!Great video ! I shared it on a FB page, it's a really nice recap of Lloyd's chance and reasons to be in Smash. Nice quality too, especially for a first try.
Wow great list. I need to check what this Mystic leak is all about ( I've been kinda away, heh…). Definitely not giving up on Lloyd now. Geno and Lloyd have their mii costumes MIA so I think they have great potential for DLC (i don't mind geno personally, but i want his fans to be happy too lol, and apparently he isn't deconfirmed really).I originally posted this on reddit, but here's why I believe that Lloyd has a really solid shot:

Wait seriously? ok now I truly hope the anniversary has some great news coming with it… altho companies are known to miss such big chances to make great things happen, I hope this time is done. Just like I hope this 20th anniversary year for Banjo Kazooie means something good for the character in the future of DLC. I'm not gonna be able to avoid being hopeful for VGA now… let's hope we get a DLC character teased already by then, at least one of them. Lloyd would be amazing, ToS was my all time favorite game on the Gamecube after all.Tales's anniversary is December 15th, there's a potential possibility of Lloyd being announced at VGAs, but it's probably going to be nothing there or it's the SE character.
Just watched it, great video! Man I'm surely hopeful for Lloyd now after the big blow Isaac from GS got… I am more attached to Lloyd than Isaac after all since I only became a GS fan like 2 months ago, but ToS… I've been fan of since that game came out back in the gamecube!Hey guys, just wanted to take a moment from your day and showoff this video

AFAIK, Namdai have never missed a big anniversary. Can't say that that'll mean Smash content, though....I truly hope the anniversary has some great news coming with it… altho companies are known to miss such big chances to make great things happen, I hope this time is done. Good framedata but not a very good run speed. Kind of like Corrin.Hey guys in terms of speed, how fast do you think Lloyd would be? maybe comparing him with an existing fighter.
Not really. Any Tales character would be fine as it would help make the series more popular in the west like it did with Bayonetta.Quick question for you guys here since this is the only Tales fan thread for a character. Would you guys be angry if Yuri got in over Lloyd? I personally would love either.
I don't like Vesperia, so yeah.Quick question for you guys here since this is the only Tales fan thread for a character. Would you guys be angry if Yuri got in over Lloyd? I personally would love either.
I never did believe anything that Hitagi said. After getting fooled by the Grinch leak, it truly tells me that anyone can say or do literally anything. What's interesting to me is that Sakurai said that because we'll be paying without knowing who the fighters are, he's hoping that we will understand the value of those characters... Or something along those lines. Call me crazy, but I personally do not think that a character from Gran Blue and Steve are "valuable" enough. We'll just have to wait and see.Well it looks like Hitagi bactracked on Katalina. I'm definitely less confident in Hitagi right now.
I wouldn't be angry. What would make me happy is that there'll be some form of Tales rep as a character. That being said, Sakurai has said in the past that Lloyd would be the one to make it into Smash, so I would think that them choosing Yuri would indeed be a drop of the ball.Quick question for you guys here since this is the only Tales fan thread for a character. Would you guys be angry if Yuri got in over Lloyd? I personally would love either.
Two days after the VGA, and one day after Ultimate's release. Last year, the broadcast was the 16th. I do hope we'll finally know that Switch title now.https://mynintendonews.com/2018/11/15/tales-of-series-23rd-anniversary-broadcast-8th-december-2018/
Tales of 23rd Anniversary broadcast (also known as TalesRoom) will be happening on the 8th of December. Lloyd's Japanese VA will be featured.
I don't think there will be anything Smash related but still worth mentioning it.
