POKEMANSPIKA
Smash Master
Anyone here personally just want a Skip character in Smash, of course I prefer it be Chibi-Robo but Captain Rainbow would be fine as well.

I don't think they'll be going back to the other versions of Chibi Robo. I think they are doing the game the way it is to make the game more appealing while keeping the same characters. I think the other games weren't successful enough to warrant their continued production.I hope they have the normal Chibi Robo style of games for home consoles while testing different genres with portable systems, which they seem to be doing.
I hope this isn't what happens since I love the feeling of exploring a house (wow never thought I'd say that) as a small little robot helping out the residents. Plus Jenny(I think thats her name, if it isn't well Girl in Frog Hat thing) was just so weird.I don't think they'll be going back to the other versions of Chibi Robo. Unfortunately, I don't see anything else. Remember that even Fire Emblem might have ended if Awakening didn't do well enough. Chibi Robo has never done well sales wise, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was to prevent him from getting the axe as well. I suspect Nintendo wanted to keep using the character because he cute.I hope this isn't what happens since I love the feeling of exploring a house (wow never thought I'd say that) as a small little robot helping out the residents. Tbh I think they'll sell more Chibi amiibo than copies of the game....Unfortunately, I don't see anything else. Remember that even Fire Emblem might have ended if Awakening didn't do well enough. Also, this may be a "relaunching" of sorts with the amiibo. Nintendo wouldn't go though the trouble of manufacturing these if they didn't think they would sell.
I don't think they necessarily need to win the ballot in order to be added, it seems more like nominations. Like, we nominate these characters and sakurai chooses the ones he wants to addI don't think Chibi Robo is "popular" enough to win the ballot, but I've always been a fan of his. I'd love to see his inclusion.
Here's the thing: DLC has to sell. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think they're going to prioritize popular candidates.I don't think they necessarily need to win the ballot in order to be added, it seems more like nominations. But the thing is that the winner of the ballot is not a guarantee, just cause Shovel Knight or Banjo win the ballot doesn't mean they are gonna be added to the game. Not to mention the fact that it doesn't matter what the character is, it will sell and they know thatHere's the thing: DLC has to sell. Why are you bringing up Shovel Knight or Banjo, when there's tons of Nintendo characters who are ranking quite highly as well? Third-parties are extremely iffy, but first-parties have nothing in there way for getting in. Odds are, the top ranking first-parties would get in, while third-parties would be iffy depending on how much the license would cost and interacting with the dev's and everything, third-parties are a huge question, but first-parties?But the thing is that the winner of the ballot is not a guarantee, just cause Shovel Knight or Banjo win the ballot doesn't mean they are gonna be added to the game. Smash 4 still isn't out of the realm of possibility, but yeah, it seems they're making him more marketable. The old style didn't sell, so they required change. I'm hoping that they're using this to give Chibi Robo some exposure, and then they return to the original style.Okay, as sad as I am that the new Chibi Robo game is a sidescrolling platformer rather than the style that the Gamecube version was, I am almost totally assured that this is due to the fact that they want to make Chibi Robo playable in Smash 5. For whatever reason, this just screams that, to make him more mainstream, identifiable and give him new moves. Looks like he's Nintendo's Belmont, lol.
It's like how Sakurai helped make Punch Out Wii happen so that Little Mac would be more relevant and have a few extra moves for Smash 4. Same cat exactly
Yeah man, Mario has multiple game styles, so does Metroid and Pokemon. while Chibi Robo isn't big like those, I hope we can regain the old way at some pointSmash 4 still isn't out of the realm of possibility, but yeah, it seems they're making him more marketable. Perhaps if this game does well, we could see a home console game. Obviously that's very wishful thinking, but a great reception of Chibi Metroidvania Robo could do wonders for the series.Yeah man, Mario has multiple game styles, so does Metroid and Pokemon. while Chibi Robo isn't big like those, I hope we can regain the old way at some point
The ballot is just there to gauge public opinion, it isn't a contest that can be 'won'. Frankly I think pretty much any DLC character would sell almost equally well. I wish they had thought of tying in DLC with new game releases, so you could get the Inkling for smash bros by buying Splatoon, Chibi robo by getting this game, etc.I don't think Chibi Robo is "popular" enough to win the ballot, but I've always been a fan of his. Lucas is taking two months to make, which is really just taking him from Brawl, making a new model, and then tweaking him.The ballot is just there to gauge public opinion, it isn't a contest that can be 'won'. I wonder how much work it takes to make a new character?
I would imagine that there are several teams that characters get passed around. Design teams, modeling teams, programming teams, balance teams, etc.. So yes, multiple characters are probably being worked on at the same time so workers aren't left wasting time.Hmm; I wonder if that is the full team, or if they can work on more than one concurrently.
Those are just the biggest 'never gonna happen yet still popular' characters I could think of, third party or notWhy are you bringing up Shovel Knight or Banjo, when there's tons of Nintendo characters who are ranking quite highly as well? The biggest thing would probably be rendering everything out for each animation (and that's if they are using the same rigging and animations they used in Brawl) and doing all the physics stuff.Lucas is taking two months to make, which is really just taking him from Brawl, making a new model, and then tweaking him.
You have to factor in that they're working on other things besides Lucas. (potentially other characters too) So it's not like all of this time has been spent on Lucas.Lucas is taking two months to make, which is really just taking him from Brawl, making a new model, and then tweaking him.
OK, I'm seeing this too much and its not true. Nintendo is not making Zap lash to add Chibi Robo to Smash. Their business decisions do not revolve around Smash, despite what some here like to think. Its far more likely they are trying to reestablish the brand. This is why Nintendo did the Micro direct the way they did, and considered Chibi Robo their main announcement. Its to save the brand, not put it in Smash.Okay, as sad as I am that the new Chibi Robo game is a sidescrolling platformer rather than the style that the Gamecube version was, I am almost totally assured that this is due to the fact that they want to make Chibi Robo playable in Smash 5. exactly its just a coincidence that the plug would translate into smash so wellOK, I'm seeing this too much and its not true. Nintendo is not making Zap lash to add Chibi Robo to Smash. I totally disagree with this. I feel like that's exactly why it is a thing, same with Punch Out WiiOK, I'm seeing this too much and its not true.
