The skype group has serious discussions... occasionally...
The discord server actually has a dedicated channel for meta discussion. I you want in the discord group then just pm me; for skype you can just post your name here (unless you want that private or something, in which case, pm me). Hell, you can join both! JOIN EVERYTHING! STEAM! FACEBOOK! TUMBLR! ****ING MY SPACE!!!
Or just none, I don't really care
The best part about this is that we recently made a steam group lol

Toon link is by far my favourite smash character. I just enjoy how he moves, y'know? But I'm not especially good with him. And I'd like to find someone to play for fun with, or even teach me how to play Toon Link.

I'm having trouble throwing my bombs, and quickly catching them. How do you do this?

First of all, most people refer to those as BFOs (bomb fake outs), just in case you didn't know already.

Now, there are multiple ways to do this, I find that the easiest way to catch bombs with aerials is to short hop backwards, throw the bomb in that direction, then just keep moving towards the bomb and catch it with an aerial. I use this quite a lot in my gameplay to approach characters in shield, usually by running up, rar bomb toss towards them, nair.

I would definitely check the different methods in the AT list thread to see which one you want to practise with, but if you really can't get it down, feel free to pm me and I could try to help you out in a game with a demonstration of the timing.

I've mained Toon since Brawl, started playing him competitively in 4, working towards tournament level. Thought it might be cool to talk to some fellow players, since I don't know any personally, and now that I've been lurking for awhile, figured I'd jump in. My Skype account is mtjgerrard@gmail.com (it's tied to my Microsoft account :p).

So like... is this gonna become a thing? Like, every week or so, I just come back over here to try and revive this chat? Will this be a tradition?
C'mon guys, it's not like we have anything better to do than socialise with people we don't know on a forum about some game franchise please help, I'm so lonely.

I honestly don't know what has happened to these boards. There has been a lot less posting lately, and most of our discussion boards are pretty much dead.

We need to fix this.

So, this is a silly question, but is it common for Toon Link players to be color loyalists? Most of the ones I see in tournaments use one color exclusively. I myself do this with purple when I play Tink.

Also, hi. I've been lurking on these forums for a bit because I'm considering switching mains from Lucas to Tink.

Yeah, that's really common. I main the og link colour (5th colour).

Man. I haven't played Toon in a LONG time. Especially since school kept me away from Smash.
It's Spring Break now though! And playing Toon again (And watching some Smash 4 VODS... and Brawl VODS, just for fun), I just realized how OUTDATED my Toon is.
I'm still acting like Boomerangs and Bombs deal substantial damage from far away. i.e., I'm still playing Brawl Toon in Smash 4.

Which does not work out at all, since our projectiles do ~2/3 - 1/2 the damage they did in Brawl.
I'm losing against some really silly things on For Glory because my play isn't really optimal. Sigh.
Watching my replays again, I think I'm just having trouble online because when the opponent sneaks into my boomerang -> (___) or bomb -> (____) zone, I can't react quickly enough to confirm a hit. Lag is a problem, but hey, my opponent is experiencing the same lag, and I feel like TOON SHOULD BE THE ONE at an advantage with his projectiles and all.

I hope it's just me being temporarily scrubby after not playing Smash for so long.

sorry, rant ends here. Self-reflecting, I guess.

Edit: I just realized that the projectile comboing aspect of Smash 4 Toon is kind of the replacement for Brawl nair/bair/zair.
Wow, I'm slow.
But that blows my mind. I've never thought of it that way.

Also, is dsmash practically useless now with the fsmash buff? fsmash just feels so much better in almost every aspect now, and it's huge too.
