The Big House 5 Announced

I think as a Grassroots scene, the community would really like to know why there's no PM at Big House this year. Seriously, why's there no PM? Are we gonna see Nintendo's logo pop up as a sponsor in the future?

Ehhh. No PM is kind of a drag considering I don't like Smash 4 at all.. Wanted to get my toes wet in Melee and PM, but not sure if I'll go to this one. :/

Beyond excited for this. TBH4 was easily one of the greatest tournaments of all time, and if this is even near that amazing, it'll be something worth getting hype for.

That said, I'm very disappointed in the lack of PM. There are brief moments when I actually consider getting back into Smash 4, but I feel like I can't support Smash 4 without hurting my main game. Hopefully we won't have to sit through Smash 4 top 8 before Melee top 8 begins, although there's not many alternatives.

Well I understand TBH5 not being able to do Project M due fears of legal problems from Nintendo. Because it somewhat illegally modifies a game. And I'm glad to see we are all reacting maturely...

Having a legit reason to be upset is not acting mature.

It's how you vent that and how you show it is what shows character.

Except they didnt 'flex their muscles'. Nintendo has never shut down a single PM stream. Nintendo has only ever shut down one smash stream in history, and that was melee at Evo 2013.

Nintendo also denied MLG the right to stream Brawl back in like 2010.

and the tournaments like zenith and apex who actually decide to host us decide to only stream things like Pools round 1 and top 8. Then they DROP streaming us in general, and try to move us outside the venue into tents.

some people dont realize that 64 is an ACTUAL smash game with techs not in other games and competitive aspects, but TO's and streamers just decide that we are an outside community and that Smash 4 and Melee is BEST GAMES EVER NOBODY ELSE IS IMPORTANT

the same will happen with PM soon, just on a MUCH larger scale because of the massive community

I really respect PM dont get me wrong, but its wrong that people arent even considering a major event as relevant to them just because a mod isnt making it in. Now thats their choice, i just don't agree with it.

Reading these replies has reminded me why i dropped PM. You guys are way too vindictive, way too quick to start throwing accusations, way too emotional. It's like a democrat rally in here. Give it a rest already.

To be fair the smash community is like this in general. Melee and smash 4 fans would complain if their game was excluded and would get all emotional as well if it kept being dropped from each major. Also you dropped the game cause of how people react to it being left out? Tbh that sounds stupid af

Maybe, but its not the end of the world. And lets be honest, of all smash GAMES(PM isnt really a game, its a mod for a game and that borderlines on copyright, but i couldnt ssy for sure.) PM would be most likely cut. Now why it was cut we may not know today.

Imagine Smash 4 slowly getting cut from every major and even minor tournaments. Slowly, fading away, until they have to do underground tournaments so there could be Smash4 action in ANY tournament whatsoever.

For **** sakes this isnt about the ****ing fanboys. This is about OUR community and game being treated like the Black Sheep of Smash. Don't you ****ing see it? Look around! They took out PM in at least 5 majors they were in for years. Just like that, ignored from the places we were welcomed to, shoved into a corner, slowly being marked as a lost cause in the world of finances rather than sticking with the community.

Let me ask you all a question, how the **** would you feel if Melee or Smash 4 was getting this treatment, treated like it was toxic or the plague, and being pushed aside from any tournaments ever again? Come on, tell me.

How would YOU feel if you had the majors YOU went to all your life, the people who help make the Smash Community the way it is today, and the recognition of a strong example of what a community should always have been, sticking together through the rough and the harsh, being slowly exiled because of of couple of sponsors, and money?

So what if it's a mod? I can give you a list of games that also started off as mods. My point still stands if smash 4 was cut from all majors and forced to go underground in order to stay alive it would piss you off would it not?

I can too but i'd like to know any nintendo ones if there are any, considering that nintendo has such an iron grip on their products. And yeah, like i said, i'd be a bit peeved but again, there are other smash games. Me myself, i'd simply host my own sm4sh tournaments if it started getting swept under the rug. If you want your game to be represented again, the community is the only way it can do so, create its own tournaments and bring it back to life. One tournament not having it, with no reason given yet mind you, does not mean your going to die.

But its not just one tournament... Most of the Major and Minor tournies dropped them. and HELL even my LOCALS dropped PM, there is a problem.

I'm sad for the PM guys not having their event, but I'm not too broken up about the whole PM drying up thing because it's really not my scene. Personally, I prefer Melee and 4, and I'd love to see 64 get some credit, but hey, I wouldn't mind seeing the PM guys get some more stuff.

Melee slumped too, but now it's breaking attendance records left and right. Basically, I think as long as the locals maintain a passionate crowd of people who love their game, and want to see it played, I think PM will get over this slump

Different company.
Different copyrights.
Different systems/gaming platforms.
Different IPs.

It's not the same. Don't bring up PC modding either, not the same.
