Since I want to go to 4th place atleast, I'm thinkin a 50/30/15/5 split, seems the most reasonable.

So in your scenario of $1 entry and 20 people 1st would get $10, 2nd $6, 3rd $3, and 4th gets their entry fee of $1 back. Of course these are all doubled if we do a $2 entry.

Because it really isn't a large sum of money(considering a low turnout like 20 or so) we can probably bypass the whole giftcards thing and just give you the money. I mean really getting giftcards that small is just ridiculous. I'll still have to talk with the other officers of TGL to get the ok on this, but I think they'll be cool with it.

I really just want some more people to consistantly show up, and other than offer the incentive of a prize from entry fees I can't do much. Like I said before, last time we tried this it deterred what few people we did have from coming, so I'm gonna start out super light with these. I know $10 or $20 isn't much, but its something. Remember the more people that show the bigger it gets.

Now if players were influenced to up the entry based on the new splits or something(which I highly doubt will ever happen) to let say $5 or so, then we would probably have to go back to gift cards.

Basically its all up to the players, and since only 4 or 5 of you are actually on smashboards I can't really say what'll happen. School starts in about 2 months, so I still have time to try and perfect some things. I think another complaint we were getting was no free play, and we really have no control over that since we can only bring what tvs and cubes we have with limited dependence on others bringing setups. But that's a different matter all together.

How is it that you advertise the tourneys again? Send an announcement out through tech or something?

Edit: Yes money would be great, I would rather get cash than a giftcard, maybe that will inspire more to come and to try and get first or at least top 4 anyway. Hopefully you'll be able to do that instead of a small gc.

If people want to get more $, could we add money matches? I think that might build some hype and maybe get people to return. That way people that don't want to lose money, won't. Maybe even add side bets for money matches? Let's try and hype this stuff up.

That would be so awesome if we could do something like that, but I bet we can't since its with the school right? *the following should be ignored by Matt* Maybe we could do some that the tgl officials don't know about, which would only be Crono and volt.:p

But seriously, how bad (or illegal) could having a few small money matches possibly be? It would certainly make it funner, more rewarding, possibly have a better turn out AND make people want to step up their game, which I am sure at least Crono, Sintenal and Andrew... and any other top player would be interested in. ; )

Ehh, we can dream...

Yeah.... doing a tournament for cash prizes is kinda pushing it enough.

Also Dan will be returning, though I think he graduates in December.

Why don't you like money matches? Does it take the fun out of it for you?

EDIT: Does Dan being there mean that halo is staying, and that the next time i fight you Matt, you will probably be tired this time too, since you will probably have been there all day? = ( Halo is a drag...

i have never played smash for money

infact, everyone's constant need for money matches kinda what made me quit going to tournaments

well that and the general dislike of 95% of the smash community ;x

I am always broke anyway, and I dislike 95% of everything.

But since i have never gone to any other tourneys besides TGL, crono is the biggest jerk that i have come across while playing smash. :)

Oh there are far worse than me.

Dan is getting fed up with Halo players and their attitudes or rather has been for a while, so unless Microsoft sponsors a tournament or somethign again I doubt we'll be doing Halo too often if at all.

And yes money matches are stupid, they're just excuses for lamos and stuck up smashers for not playing you.( i.e. ryan or many of the "pro" smashers)

I don't think i have ever turned down a fun match with anyone... but i am sure if someone i could probably beat offered a bet, i would take it.
Cause i love money, and i love STUFF, we can't all plan on becoming petroleum engineers... jk

But i believe it about the halo players being A-holes, even though the very thought of anyone being more of a jerk than you are makes me cringe, i know THEY probably are.:)

Good times at your apartment Bill, we need to play Metal Slug preferable not the Wii one just because I want to use my arcade stick so much that more forearms will be sore in the morning.

By the way, the only reason I purposed money matchs are so that people on the same level would get better and improve their game and maybe get more hype so more people could join. This way people may actually have something to look forward too in the tournments. I sure don't see it as a money making career or anyting.

But since their wil be a $1, I suppose money matches won't be needed right? Oh yeah, you should know mechanical engineers are way cooler then petroleum engineers too.

yeah yeah......to bad you make less money! Bwahahaha.

However that gives me an idea. What if, in between tournaments, I were to have training sessions. Of course Shawn wouldn't really need to come since he's doing fine on his own and lives kinda far away, or if he wants to he could, but I digress.

Basically it would be like a training session for advanced techniques and bad habit reform. First, I or someone else can go around and show people how to do "advanced" techs depending on what they do and don't already know. Then after training with those for a while, have them play experienced players. The experienced players can then point out the areas that need improvement, perhaps make suggestions or refer the newer player to some videos to watch.

Of course the best way to learn is to go to tournaments and play all kinds of people, so that's what the set tournaments would be for. If they were free there wouldn't really be any real consentive to win, but with an entry fee people may actually want to try and improve themselves so they can get some money.

We could even make respective levels of training. Like have Andrew work with the real new people to get them to learn the basics, while me or Shawn or Austin could help the more skilled players, including Andrew, identify their bad habits or areas that need improvement.

I'd definitely need help if I did do this because I really do not know everything about every character, especially since I play samus most, if not all the time.

Yeah, just an idea. Tell me what you think.

Yeah, best be careful though. Next time we play, I might be better than you lol. What system do you have an arcade stick for? The Blockbuster I work at only has Metal Slug on the Wii unfortunately. Oh yeah, if you're coming over tomorrow, mind throwing in like $2-3 to cover some of the meat and coals and whatnot? Not really important but it wouldn't hurt lol.

For y'all's (only in Texas lol) tutorial plan, should make sure that they actually want the critique, some people get pissed if they don't actually want it lol.

I am very interested in this idea Matt, but i think the only way to get people to show up is to advertise well the money prizes through 4th, also you should be sure not to tell how much people TGL usually has, how much or little money there will be in the entry fee, or give them that LOW estimate for 1st. That way people may overestimate it and strive to become the next Roy or Austin.

Also as bwett1 said, we wouldn't want to offend anybody... So be sure to explain to the participants what is going on, and that they will be willing to take instruction from you guys.

BBBQ was great, the extra B was because of all the barbecue, yes I know I copied that from the Simpsons. I just got to play the demo of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Armored Core 4 on the PS3, and I have to say that Apple iPhone was a big waste of money. But since you don't like good games like Zone of the Enders 2, I guess it doesn't matter for you :psycho:.

Yeah, I'll talk to you guys about it more on AIM or something when school is about to start. That way we'll have some constant communication.

Plus gotta give time for Andrew to stop being jealous of people with iPhones, even though Sigma looks good its still not enough for me to want a PS3.

"BBBQ, the extra B is for BYOBB... that extra B was a typo." :chuckle:
Dang, you got it right on, that $hit is old school. Have you played Armored Core 4? It's really fun but hard, but it's also on Xbox 360.

By the way, anyone going to watch the Simpsons's movie when it comes out, I remember hearing about it coming out in 2004 when I was a senior in high school :psycho:.

What's up Serg, long time no see.

Had a fun time on Saturday along with the movie Bill. We should go to CiCi's again and just order cinnamon rolls because everything else is crap like that alfredo pizza that tasted like poison.

Will you still be in town when the Simpson movie is showing? You won't have to pay because it's free right?

Yes I like going to college, especially this year since I only have 12 hours which means only 4 classes which means basically having all the free time I want, and Serg I'll get you my friend code when I get home tonight, right now I'm at work.

Dallas = Humidity+Work all day + mowing the lawn + some time with friends + things to do

while

Lubbock = Dry + Class for only 2 or so hours a day + hanging with friends all the time + all the free time I could ever want + One Guy's + Nothing really to do except homework or play video games

I'm gonna go with Lubbock for now. Even though the not having anything to do sucks, I'd rather that than working all day, despite the money I make. Plus I mean come one, One Guy's is enough for me to want to come back to Lubbock. lol

One, you mean Serg?:urg:

1. You suck, and smell bad!!

2....I wouldn't say Serg is a friend really.

3. You can't "Ooooooooooh" your own insult. :psycho:

Oh, and isn't "one guy's" that pizza place, why do you not get tired of eating only CHEESE pizza?

The last here isn't for argument sake, i am just curious why you only like cheese pizza...

EDIT: Oh, and are you going to O.H.S.N.A.P. 3? Just wondering.

1,2, & 3. I know you love me but try to keep it on the down low. Also you should continue to atleast pretend to be "friends" with that Serg fellow so he'll come to the tournaments.......lol

I eat only cheese pizza because I'm picky, and I like cheese pizza. No, I don't get tired of it.

Yes now that O.H.S.N.A.P. 3 is on the 11th I will be going, as well as driving most of the Dallas smashers up there.

Last, of course, is the obligatory I hate Pmatt, and he's not aloud to use my awesome pizzaria nickname anymore, post.

AAAGGGGHHHH!!!! Cheese pizza only people drive me insane!!! If three people want to order pizza, we have to order cheese because of the one guy who won't eat anything else!!!! It's sooo boring, what's wrong with pealing stuff off your pizza??!!!

I'm Asian and I have to deal with pineapple on my pizza all the time, along with pretending to like weird stuff like squid, octopus, snails, pig feet, and chicken feet so my mom's friends will think that I like the stinky Chinese food that they made for me.

Hahaha! Yes the cheese guy is very annoying, i told him that he could just take the pepperonis (or whatever) off, but he said "Its not the same, its still KINDA got that pepperoni taste to it." I am sure eating chicken feet is a thousand times worse than tasting some pepperoni residue with your pizza.

Oh, sorry to hear about that BTW.
