Hi, there. I play my brother a lot who mains with Lucario, and our games are very close. I would like to know some techniques when fighting against Lucario, either general or character specific. I don't truly have a main yet, but I am exceptional with Meta Knight, Toon Link, and maybe Pokemon Trainer. I use every character, though to keep things fresh, so any techniques are appreciated.

learn how to chaingrab with DDD. you'll get him soon. ;)
Thanks. That actually does work when I use it on him, but he calls it a "***** move(he basically thinks that about infiniting and Chain Grabbing and Pikachu entirely)."

The Snake advice has been working pretty well; I need to master him a little more, but it is working, though he says Snake's Rockets(I forgot, he doesn't like any projectile except his) is also a "***** move."

If you play marth

You can essentially "tech chase" him out of grab release.

his only options out of getting grab released by marth are roll, shield, and sidestep.

everything else is too slow apparently.

theres also a nice little edgeguard trick you can use offstage that involves sideB and fair but I'm going to keep that to myself as I haven't found a way around it yet :<

Stop confusing him with advanced bs. Snake and DDD are easier.

My bro also plays as Lucario. My advice is to stay out of the air near him, his air game is exceptional. Superior to Pikachu's, so I have learned to deal with it.

If he starts spamming aura sphere, I like to just jump over them and just wait until he stops. Then HE has to approach YOU, which is good in your favor. Also if you have a projectile yourself, spam him back unless the aura sphere cancels it out, then just wait for him.

If you are on the ground and in a ground conflict, passing eachother attacks to trying to hit eachother, try short hopping to dodge him, get just above him and he will whiff most attacks, and you get a free aerial such as Toon Link's spike or MK's Dair or Fair. Or even a shuddle loop! Just don't full hop it, because he will come up and you will have an air fight-not good for you.

Also, check the Lucario boards for his good and bad matchups if you want a counter to him. Hope that helped!

Good luck man. =D

also, remember to force Lucario to approach if you can. waddle dees cancel out AS so camping until he comes to you is recommended. also, don't care if he doesnt like getting chaingrabbed. we all don't, but if it allows you to win, do it anyway.

DDD and snake are just beasts to lucario. remember also, to stay alive for as long as possible, and kill him early with uptilt (this applies to both chars). this makes sure his aura doesnt grow too powerful.

that marth techchase stuff is absolute BS

3 options... many characters wish they had that many. It requires prediction, and a 33% chance of continuing a tech chase, which does minimal damage (marths pummels are very weak) is nothing to be worried about, be grateful his throws are all very weak.
