If you could vote to put one obscure Nintendo character into the next Smash Bros. game, who would you pick and why?

For the purposes of obscure, any Nintendo character that only came from a one-game series and hasn't been represented as a playable character or AT already. Retros can count for more than one game but try for the ones who aren't "popular" (mainly Diskun haha; Sheriff is part of DHD moveset).

I would probably go with Goku from that Japan-only "Journey To The West-esque" retto game whose name escapes me, because it's a massive troll on the part of people non-ironically hoping for DBZ Goku, plus he's a bo staff wielder, and especially with Namco's involvement he can turn out like Kilik and Xiba from SoulCalibur, and Kilik was my jam in SC2.

I think he has a trophy in Smash 4 but if I were to vote for a 1 game character it'd be Dimentio from Super Paper Mario.

Brian from Quest 64. Well, despite being 3rd party, it's a Nintendo-exclusive series. Likely for good reasons. :p

I was watching Artsy Omni's Smash Direct reaction and I noticed something relevant to my height analysis on Bayonetta.

In her default standing position, she's pretty much the same height as Shulk. Maybe a little taller. However she doesn't stand completely straight there.

Here's Rosalina besides Shulk in what I think is her straightest pose (she floats in her default standing pose so I didn't use that, her feet are on the ground in this one).

If she stands straight I can see Bayonetta being about as tall as Rosalina in this game, maybe slightly shorter.

Going with the obvious pick, Zael. Despite seeming like a typical swordsman at first glance, he does have potential to have a unique moveset.

Stanley the Bugman. Mostly for retro appeal.

I would vote muddy mole.

A mole is unique, different and unrepped currently. If it was someone already repped, I would choose either mach rider or excite bike.

Donbe & Hikari with a moveset that's a parody of Japanese Mythology, fairly similar to things you'd find in Okami.

So... you guys are probably wondering why the Inklings didn't make it into Smash 4. Well, I have an interesting theory about that. Sorry if it's a tad bit too long, but its fairly interesting (in my opinion) to say at least.

Within the base game's code, people dug up arrows for the CSS and SSS as well as text relating to the DLC Shop in the Nintendo 3DS Version of Smash 4. This suggests they added those into the UI at the last minute (even though the UI is one of the last things put into a game) so it would be easier to distribute things via a network. Even ShinyQuagsire23 has said a 2nd page is hardcoded into the menus.

What this is all means is all the DLC fighters were probably starting to get planned around that time (sans Bayonetta) with Mewtwo set to be the first one. Mewtwo and some of the other fighters (Lucas, Roy and Ryu) I assume probably started development around December after both versions were fully released. Through the planning phases, they probably kept a placeholder spot for at least one new Nintendo character who was relevant at the time.

It was at this time when Splatoon, was revealed at E3 2014 as a brand new IP with gameplay Nintendo has never done before. Basically a new and risky venture for them. Around the same time, the new Fire Emblem title was in development and was first shown off in the January Nintendo Direct back in early 2015. Sakurai then had a choice. Would he chose a character that had no familiarity to them and was really new, or a character from a franchise the people recognized?

I think Sakurai thought choosing Corrin was the safest bet, as they thought Fire Emblem Fates was going to sell extremely well due to the success of Fire Emblem: Awakening while they were playing it safe with Splatoon expecting it to have minimal sales at best.

That's when an ironic twist of fate (no pun intended) happens. Splatoon becomes a critical success and becomes widely well know among the entire gaming community while Fire Emblem Fates struggles in Japan and doesn't gain any recognition. It's like what Nintendo expects flips on its head.

Then when Corrin was revealed, everyone was expecting the Inklings and said WTF?

As we know as well, Bayonetta was leading the Ballot which meant the Inkling's chances of getting into the game were slim to none :p.

Hopefully, they'll be in the next Smash game though. They are now truly a Nintendo all-star with serious popularity backing them.

Speaking of Shulk and height, I still find this so amusing.

Maybe that's why Melia has a thing for him.

I mean it's pretty clear she has a fetish for smol things...

Not too shabby.

Though it is VGChartz and they're kinda weird... but it's all we got right now.
Sales are gonna go up this week as well cuz christmas. 400,000 in a week is good considering that it's a niche franchise on the Wii U.

Actually, believe it or not, Dimentio has never been repped ever in any smash games including sticker from ssbb.

Count bleck has appeared as a sticker in ssbb and as a trophy in ssb4 WiiU.

But tbh, it kinda make sense, Bleck is actually more present than Dimentio even though their role at the end differ significantly.

Btw, I was browsing the ssbb stickers to prove my point and I foudn that they put only 2 badges from TTYD as sticker, the power jump (very significant since it;s a jump that is buffed) and can you believe it? mega rush!

If you don;t get what I mean, as badges can be stacked, mega rush is becoming extremely OP has you can be in peril and have a lot of attack power. Speedruners even uses this strat and this strat has been known by a lot of TTYD / pm64 fans. It;s so weird they actually went there :)

Charizard is also 5'7" according to official sources. Mewtwo is 6'7". Despite this, Charizard is usually depicted as being larger.

The height in Nintendo games is completely whack, even outside of Smash.

Shulk is actually five foot seven according to the previous official Xenoblade page (which is now replaced by the Xenoblade 3D one.)

Sakurai however made his eyes turquoise and his height five foot six. Why? The world may never know.

Since Excitebike technically doesn't count, my vote goes to Mach Rider.

I mean, Sakurai redesigned him once...it would be cool to see a new take on him.

I like amusing myself so I did a little search.

I am disappointed but not surprised.
Insults and emotional language are bad.

However, Sakurai is in error with many of his game design philosophies.
As are most designers.

anybody look back at this
and chuckle to themselves.Like wow we really cant read sakurai
I actually look at this and go, "wow, I wish more people listened when so many people, including myself and the poll's CREATOR, acknowledged that we cannot in any way actually gauge popularity based on a lack of knowledge on how the poll works, multiple voting, and the small sample audience.

But the people who didn't listen then are the same ones who only saw this pie chart and saw a given...

The whole Mario line of hot wheels is very weird. That's a crossover I didn't think I'd see.

How would these characters play like (Or playstyles) in Smash if they are true to their Original series?:
Shrek
Twilight Sparkle
Cory
Goku (Even though it's obvious)
