I'm at loss for words. What a wild ride.
It's over, but wow.
Kinda sad for no Wolf or Snake, but goddamn, Bayonetta was truly unexpected and she does seem fun and very flashy. Liked the integration of the KIU cast given the context. Also, she is the ballot character, isn't she? No. 1 in Europe and no. 5 in North America, that is quite the feat and she does have the unique factor going for her. She is the choice of the players as a collective.
Corrin is cool, but it does seem there's a bit too much Fire Emblem, no? Oh well, he/she's still a very unique character with all that dragon stuff and chainsaw-like sword, so I'm looking forward to playing as him/her!
Along with Cloud, we have a trio of very innovative characters unlike anything seen in Smash. I can see why veterans would get passed over more unique characters.
All in all, this roster is quite solid.
I'll also admit I'm a little bit disheartened by the lack of XCX content, but beggars can't be choosers and we can't get everything we want.
What else can I say? Not much. Smash Bros. will always have its unpredictable side and I think that's part of the fun. Much like how we have a total of 58 characters in this game, there's a much bigger number of potential characters out there could also join the roster in future iterations, be them from past games or from games yet to come, but you can only have so much in one package. After all, everything is limited and that's part of life.
I'm choosing to focus on what exists rather than being stuck on an imaginary world where things are exactly to my image. Yes, I'd have liked to see Wolf and Snake back and I do acknowledge that the likes of Inklings, Dixie, Krystal, Ridley, and K. Rool would bring much to the game, but I'm not putting down what we got because, objectively speaking, there's no character that is more right or more wrong than another.
Each and every character has merits in a Smash Bros. for the fact this is a game is a crossover, which has the purpose of bringing different characters that otherwise wouldn't be seen together. For this very fact, to me, Cloud, Bayonetta and Corrin are just as exciting additions as any other potential character and any other character that has been added to Smash, be it this game or any of the past 3 titles.
I was excited during the presentation and Smash Bros. will become more fun with these characters included. However, it would be as much fun as if any other characters were added because I know they would be just as intriguing as those that were.
Well... That was longer than I expected. I do make long rambles on the things I'm passionate about, after all. Smash Bros. will continue to be among my favorite franchises and I will always look to the future of the series, no matter how much time passes, no matter how which turns my life takes.
It's why I am here, after all, on this very forum. I'll continue to be around but perhaps my activity may diminish a bit in favor of being more committed to SG. Speculation was the main reason I joined this forum in the first place and, although I'm not interested in competitive play, Smash always thrives on multiplayer so I hope to be playing with you all for the next times!
Lastly, I thank Sakurai-san and his team for making the game possible and creating a series that created this much impact in video game history.
