Pretty much my thoughts.

I will say that 4 had an interesting villain in Rumplestilskin. But even with the interesting idea (Shrek making a deal with him), they turned it into It's a Wonderful Life. And a bad version of it too. It just removed character development from the main cast barring Shrek and even then, he's almost unlikable this time around. I know the stress of being a family man is getting to him and he's having a mid life crisis and all that, but geez, he really was acting like a monster.

Don't even get me started on the ogre tribe, they were just bizarre.

Piper was amazing in every way though. Best thing from the film.
I always thought it would have worked better as an hour long made-for-tv Christmas special of sorts.

Even if they already had a Christmas special. I mean it's basically a Shrek version of It's a Wonderful Life, like you said.

And yeah, the Piper was the best part of the movie. :p

Even then I kind of doubt it would work as a special.

It's a Wonderful Life worked because the alternate timeline isn't the focal point of the film. It's the climax meant to shock George out of contemplating suicide. The majority of the film is introduction, buildup and the actual problem. That way we get character development and tangible changes in the settings and characters. The alternative timeline is so scary and impactful because we don't see it very a lot. George is not given the time to adapt to the world being that bad which makes it that much more emotional. Shrek just gets in a wacky adventure that acts as more of a punishment than a reminder.

Is Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition on Wii U any good for someone who hasn't played those games before?

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are way better.
If you want to get into the Arkham games I recommend getting those two games and playing them in that order.
Is armored edition worse than the normal version or something?

Only thing about differences I got was this
'The only difference in the Wii U version, is the use of the gamepad (specifically with the maps, hacking device, and remote control batarang), armor suit, electric gauntlets, and minor differences with some of the other gadgets. Besides that, you are going to have the exact same experience with multiple consoles.'

Those sound like plusses.

Kenith Kenith is it like glitchier or something?

Or did you think I meant Origins or something?

EDIT: Oh nevermind.

I thought all the Batman games for the Nintendo systems were bad?

Or... At least that's what I was told.

Never played them myself, so can't say.

Here's a nice thought.

Obi-Wan said only Sith deal in absolutes.
Yoda said "Do or do not, there is no try."

Yoda's statement is an absolute. And for that matter, so is Obi-Wan's.

But hey, what do I know?

:^)
Prequels ware also terribly written so dont take anything said in them seriously.

Midichlorians shouldnt be canon while we're at it.

I agree with the sentiment overall but I dont agree with your last sentence. That depends completely on the person. Getting salty about not getting one's way or events not turnout how one expects in a video game is a sign of immaturity and an entitled mind set, plain and simple. Qu'ils mangent de la sel.
That's very true.

No 100% related but...I think the average age of Smashers was 19 years old, though of course that was the 2,000+ people I got to take a poll. I want to do another Ultimate Smash Poll, but I'm waiting for Smash DLC to be all released. I figured the one before the DLC and the one after it would make a nice set of data. Get to measure expectations and feelings based on what was released. I would need to wait 2-3 weeks after the DLC is all finished in order to poll in order to limit some of the novelty of whatever fighter is released though...

I will say Origins isn't a bad game but it's not up to the par of the first two.

Oh me gawd. The Vita's OLED screen is so beautiful. Like you really see how beautiful it is when playing sprite based games. The lack of ghosting and pure fluidity is beautiful. I hope Nintendo's next handheld has OLED.

Oh.

I thought there was like 4 or something. Lol
There's four total but only one is on Nintendo.

It's sad that the Vita is dead now, everyone who actually has on has nothing but good to say about it.
Except for that third-party support...you know the one.

It's honestly great hardware, it's just Sony executed it so poorly in terms of the market. If it had like, came with memory cards and the memory cards were much cheaper, and they actually got Monster Hunter on it instead of letting it go to 3DS and well in-general lowering the cost of the system when 3DS lowered their price, it might still be living.

Was hunting for Shovel Knight amiibo release info and found this on Best Buy's listing description:

"Fans of the Shovel Knight franchise love the action-packed adventures the games deliver. You love battling enemies, practicing the code of Shovelry, digging tirelessly and more. Yet, when a different game is turned on, you pine for your favorite characters, and wish you could play as them in your new adventures. Experience an epic adventure with this Shovel Knight amiibo, which allows you to connect and interact with your favorite Nintendo games in a whole new way.
Two things.

1. ...Games? Is this an oversight by the intern that wrote this or is Nintendo banking on Shovel Knight becoming a series?

2. What does this even mean? It's going to sound a lot like Smash Bros. to a lot of people reading this, and at this point, you'd think Yacht Club Games or Nintendo would remind retails not to imply he's going to be in Smash.

Anyways, the Shovel Knight amiibo is out in Europe I think, isn't its compatibility with other games something that can be datamined? If so, someone do that and tell us if Smash is one.

I'm sure it isn't, but you never know.

Here's a controversial idea, what they were trying to go for with Samus in Other M... was Lucina. i.e. a tough and stoic warrior that gives away to an emotional side kept hidden with devotion to a father figure.

What Other M did wrong was A. not doing it in the same game as she was introduced (same goes to that Ridley thing too) B. Doing it in a game without much character interaction in the first place. C. Handling it poorly overall.

Just food for thought.

The reason it didn't work for Samus is that her previously established character was changed to a shriveling wimp. Read the canonical Metroid manga Sakamoto wrote, it's incredibly jarring looking at Other M afterwards. Had this been the first game in the series chronologically, it'd be a bit better, but barely. Your Lucina comparison somewhat doesn't work as Lucina isn't an absolute dolt who only listens to the person she has daddy issues for, but she's still capable of doing her actions and taking fate in her own hands, the only time her 'weak' sides show are when Chrom realizes he's the father and when
she attempts to kill Robin
When her disguise fails by an enemy sneak attack and people realize she's a woman, she keeps her calm and adapts to the situation

That's what I'm saying. Hence the "poorly".

--the spoiler--
Speaking of that, people may talk all the **** they want about Awakening's story but
If Lucina is either married with you or is your daughter, that scene has a ****load of emotional value and it made me feel emotionally unstable

Here's a fun topic:

Would you prefer the next Nintendo handheld to be Dual Screen like usual? Or would you prefer single screen?

I honestly like both, both really have things that are worth doing imo. For the dual screens, having that extra touch screen allows you to easily switch between menus in certain games like Zelda which is cool. However it does add to system bulk, but at the same time you are allowed to flip your system and protect the screens. Flipping also let's you easily go into sleep mode.

Single screen is nice because you get generally a bigger screen, the cost of the system focuses more on hardware than lowering the cost of 2 LCD screens in one device. There's also need to open the system up to play, you simply pick it up and go. However your screen is more likely to scratch, but screen protector will solve that. Another benefit to having a single screen the ability to have true analog sticks and on both sides without hurting the form factor.

Although I do like both, I think I slightly prefer single screen like game boy, wii u game pad, etc. I do want to see Nintendo do a single screen handheld again and what it's capable of. I'll be fine with a dual screen one regardless since it's also a great idea, too.

I honestly think Nintendo struck gold when they started the DS line and they should keep that going for as long as possible.

With that said, if they keep dual screens, do you want 3D to return again? Or would you prefer without 3D but better hardware design in response to the lack of 3D?

I don't get when people say Pokemon doesn't have cheatcodes
Deleting saved data is the best cheatcode! It's such a secret on how to do it
I wish I could take screenshots tho...
But for now, I challenge someone in this thread for a RIVAL NUZLOCKE!
Since probably no one in this thread has any idea of how this works, let me explain
Normal Nuzlocke rules apply as usual, but for a rival run, a point system is used and the one with more points at the end, well, wins
Points are won and lost as follow
+1 point for every catch
+3 point for every shiny you catch
+2 points for getting a gym badge
+5 points for defeating the league
-1 point for every death
-1 point for every shiny pokemon you kill
Each gym works as a checkpoint(though the whole Galactic shenanigans before the eighth might count as one too), so you have to wait your rival to reach that point in the game(so one doesn't end up getting ahead of the other)
Game: any of the Sinnoh ones
So, WHO ACCEPTS MY CHALLENGE?

It's not out in Europe yet.

If I had to understand, the game is programmed to recognize the character number/ variant number (which is shared among different variants) which is unique per character (Mario and Dr. Mario actually share the same character number, but Dr. Mario is the 01 variant of Mario), which is why you can use Dr. Mario instead of Mario in a lot of cases.

There is a series number, but SK would most likely have his own series number as the amiibo isn't part of the Smash line.

Therefore, AFAIK it would be impossible to data mine the SK amiibo to see if he works in Smash. I'm not 100% sure as I've only checked out amiibo information a couple times.

EDIT: I lied. It just came out in Europe.

That's weird, everywhere I went says it comes out on Nov 27-
Oh. Liar.

Thanks.
But ****.

I am dying for a confirmation of Shovel Knight in this game but even as a fan I'm not sure if it's because I want him in or because I just want the rumour to be officially over with and buried.

Anxious I am, so long as the possibility that they're hiding a FP in that thing exists.

FP as in figure player in Smash...?

That would be included in the update.

If anything this is a heads up for the next few days that if someone claims they data mined the amiibo to find out he was in Smash, it's most likely BS.
