I think this won't appeal to a good number Japanese gamers at this point. Seriously, I think it would have made more fans if they made an anime and visual novel out of it.

Given the amount of effort they've put into it, it's a little saddening that the game seems already doomed commercially.

That's what you get for not living up to the fan's expectations, especially after that first teaser trailer...

Truth be told, I don't know much about Pokemon so watching the common misconception videos by Truegreen7 have been highly informative. Jigglypuff in 64, Melee and Brawl was actually based on the shiny form instead of the normal form.

Also I don't think it was "corrected" about Jigglypuff, they just decided to use the Gen 3 design of Puff instead of the Gen 1-2 design and doing so there wasn't a real necessity to keep it shiny anymore. Also Puff was clearly based off the anime in ways for Smash.
And lmao someone thought Squirtle was based on a Squirrel...

Shiny Jigglypuff has saturated green eyes, whereas in Smash she has a green-ish blue middle ground as a result of color and lighting schemes.

She does have shiny colors in Brawl when selecting the straw hat costume.

Not to mention that Smash Bros. 64 predates Pokémon Gold/Silver, where shiny Pokémon were introduced.

You never mentioned the origin that it was from the anime. You said lighting and now you are saying Red/Blue had no color, when Sugimori has drawn artwork of Jigglypuff for Red and Green before this game came out where she has blue eyes.

She may not be shiny, but I'm merely clarifying what you did not.

He got that treatment ever since the Buu saga. Funnily enough, one of the names considered to be for Dragon Ball Zeta was like "Gohan's Adventure" or something along those lines. I'm guessing executive meddling happened during the Buu Saga.

It's kinda funny cause in that saga, he unlocks his "potential" which was his entire character progression in the Cell saga to become Super Saiyan 2, so he unlocked it again, and on his debut he stomped Buu, then the very next chapter he gets utterly decimated by Buu and doesn't make a single offense and gets killed when Buu destroys the planet. All that character progression even in the Buu saga, and by character progression I mean just power up at that point, just for one chapter him fighting, one chapter him being a joke. It's so silly. lol

Actually Toriyama only wrote the scenarios iirc. The guy who made the Dragon Ball Heroes manga is in charge of the Super manga I believe. Besides, the fact they had Vegeta of all people compliment Gohan's potential is a sign to me in the Universe 6 arc Gohan will catch up. It's basic foreshadowing.
