The overwhelming stupidity in large fanbases is basically why I end up having a "closet love" for most things in the end.

I want to discuss and gush about things but people are either too stupid or they're jerks and then I just stop trying and silently love the thing by myself.

I think it's totally fine to criticize some frustrating attitudes and behaviors of other Smash fans, but I'm not a big fan of elitism, especially when it comes to something like DLC speculation. So while I definitely agree that it'd be nice if people were informed about that stuff, people going out on a limb about speculation aren't really harming anybody as far as I can tell...


Despite what I just said, I tend to be a closet fan too, haha (I guess I'm sort of a hypocrite). While some of the more troubling fan behaviors I've seen contribute to it, I mostly avoid talking about being a fan of the games/TV shows I like because of how some people who don't know a ton about them perceive them and their fans. On one hand, I don't want to reward that kind of prejudice about innocuous things. On the other hand, I don't really want to be someone who goes around telling everybody about their favorite anime to blank stares.

On another note, holy poop Etrian Odessey Untold: The Millennium Girl is a third of it's normal price. I mean, I heard it was 10 bucks before but I didn't know it was normally thirty.

I agree. Though my reason of saying that I seperate my self from fandoms is usually just because of the unwelcomelyness in general, usually. Usually the fans use it as a domninant groundong, so to speak, rather than be a bit more welcoming. This doesn't go for everyone of course, and many aren't purposely so unwelcoming/rude.

Stupidity on the other hand, is something that honestly cheers me up in an odd way, so I don't mind it too much. As long as it doesn't become toxic misinformation.

Hey I got the first 2 right and wanted Roy and thought his chances were decent. After that it all went downhill and I have just stopped, I have hopes but not predictions. I'm just sitting here enjoy Mr. Sakurai's wild ride to the December broadcast.

I had really hoped that with Clouds announcement people would actually take a moment and learn about this kind of stuff. I don't even care if the use SG itself, I just hoped it would encourage a discussion.

I always had high hopes for MY BOY LUCAS

Partly cause of Xenoblade X hype, but mostly because I once went into a 2v2 For Glory and everyone else was the white alt Ike. I needed a long ranged fighter with a counter and Shulk fit the bill.

By the way, not expecting Roy or Lucas or getting some prediction incorrect makes you wrong, it doesn't make you dumb. Being wrong is not the same as being dumb. Not having an accurate predicted roster doesn't inherently make you an idiot.

So trying to equate that kind of stuff to vying for cartoon or movie characters and whatnot doesn't really hold water.

There's a big difference between saying 3 + 3 is 7 and 3 + 3 is purple.
(That's a bad example considering saying 3 plus 3 is 7 does make you dumb... you get the idea though lol)

If one of my friends wanted Shrek in Smash I'd just call them a fool and move on with my day, it's not like I'm going to sever that friendship. It's not a big deal in the big picture, but as far as that one area goes I'd rather not associate myself with a group recognized by a mentality that misrepresents me.

If people disagree with me... that's fine. Fair enough. But I stand by what I said. If this forum was populated primarily by people going "oh boy I want Shrek in Smash! I want Spongebob in Smash! I want Naruto in Smash!" I wouldn't come here. Would you?

Anyway, this is too much effort spent on something that matters very little. -_-;

My kinks? Yeah, they're not really that out there at all. Or at least not uncommon, I should say.(Because really, what's weird is subjective, like I don't even like boobs most of the time, for an example. Unless it's something absolutely insane that I'm not sure is satire or not.)

Back in Sector 4, my squadron and I are hard at work with the development of our latest weapon for Star Command. We developed a prototype but it was largely unsuccessful. After months of failure, we have reached a breakthrough. The laser blaster my squadron was trying to build is almost fully functional. It has a few kinks that need to be fixed but it can definitely be useful for galactic exploration.
